Bought this 20 gauge wire to make earrings with true .925 sterling silver wire as advertised. BUYER BEWARE!! This is not as advertised. This is NOT .925 sterling silver. If you are a seasoned silversmith or metalsmith you will know the difference. The end of true sterling silver wire balls up on the end when the end of the wire is heated with a torch. As it turns red from the heat, the wire end becomes a melted ball. I’ve been a bench jeweler for 23 years and I’ve never used true .925 sterling silver wire that acted like this (no balling up) while using traditional silversmithing techniques. Maybe there is a coating or something on it, but I sanded it with a sanding sponge and that didn’t make any difference. As you can see in the photos, the first pic has 3 pieces of wire with the balled up end. Those are true .925 sterling silver. The horseshoe looking wire, with wilted looking ends, is from this 5ft coil I bought in this listing. Such a disservice and disappointment. I want my money back. Can’t use this SCAM WIRE. I would give no stars if it was an option. ... show more

Very pleased with this 5ft, 26 gauge, dead soft sterling silver wire! As implied by the “dead soft” moniker, this wire is supremely malleable, and shapes easily by hand. The thinner 26 gauge is perfect for the pieces i design, which often feature very small and delicate tear drop crystals. For my purposes, 5’ is actually a decent amount since I’m only using about 5” at a time for wire wrapping, so this will allow me to create a number of necklaces. I also appreciate that the manufacturer provides a gauge chart—a useful tool for jewelry makers, especially to ensure the drill holes in beads will fit the diameter of the wire. The only thing I didn’t *love* was how the wire arrives. (See pic) It’s not enough to deduct a star, but it would be nice for storage purposes, to have this on some sort of spool as it is very bendy! All in all, I would absolutely recommend this wonderful, genuine 925 sterling silver wire! Used for making jewelry and it would snap very easily. Used a smaller length before, same grade with no issues. Idk if it was just a bad length. Need more but afraid to purchase again with the same outcome.
