    • Great tenor uke for low G tuning
You wouldn't guess on sight and sound that this tenor ukulele is sold so cheaply. Mine arrived from overseas in mint condition despite a weathered box. The zebrawood is really beautiful in person. The intonation of the fretboard is accurate and the tuning knobs are smooth and reliable. The sound is delightful with a proud volume. I've replaced the high G string with a metal-wound low G (Oasis brand, warm), which adds a hearty midrange and gives it a linear tuning that works well for picking out a melody. I was nervous that chords might not sound right with this tuning, but now that I've tried it I'm actually quite pleased. But whether or not you choose to drop down your G, I think the stock strings do sound good and I haven't found the need to replace the rest. As someone who's already spent some time on guitar and has male hands, I found the tenor size to be the right fit. Chords feel less squished than they would on a soprano or concert uke, and yet I also find no difficulty stretching down the fretboard. Compared to any acoustic or even electric guitar, the strings are much easier on the fingers and would be great for a beginner to string instruments. ... show more

I didn't expect much from the low price, but they extolled this instrument's high quality. By comparison, the frets will make most knives feel dull. Not just a random fret but the entire fretboard has sharp frets. The tuners and strings leave much to be desired. Prepare to be disappointed if you purchase this Ukulele. ... show more

For the money, this is a very good quality uke. Sized well for a beginner kid or adult and has a surprising decent tone. Holds pitch well and beautiful exterior.

I am not suficiently knowledgeable to analyze whether the ukulele is well made. I am suspicious there may be a problem, because it is very difficult to tune to C on the third string. I may phone Amazon support to discuss. I know that there is a breaking-in period for the strings. Under these circumstances it is premature to give a rating. If the ukulele is defective, then no stars are warranted. Otherwise, for the money, it may rate 5 stars across the board. Apparently, Amazon expects me to rate with stars regardless. ... show more

Great price for this well built, tenor ukulele. Nice looking, sounds good too. Several of their tenors are priced well. Remember that ukulele strings will need to be re-tuned many times at first; that’s normal.

Intonation is great and tone is really sweet. I added a low G string and I can't stop playing it. It's crazy that you can get a ukulele that sounds this good for the price. I have bought several of this brand for students and they have consistently had good intonation.
