  • I solved my moisture problem after hurricane Ian I solved my moisture problem after hurricane Ian
After Hurricane Ian, I was faced with the challenge of controlling the humidity in my entire home, as the bathroom had been soaked and the drywall inside had sustained water damage. I already had a 70-pint dehumidifier, but it was not sufficient for the task. I needed something with at least double the dehumidifying capabilities, which is why I chose a 170-pint dehumidifier. The unit came in a large box and I was initially worried that it would be too large to navigate in my home. However, upon opening the box, I found that the Styrofoam packaging took up a lot of space inside the box to protect the dehumidifier. I read the manual and found out that I had to leave it unplugged and in an upright position for at least 24 hours before use, so that the oil in the compressor could settle from the move. Not doing so could affect its lifespan and function. I also took out a clear 16-ft flexible drain hose. Even though it is larger than my 70-pint dehumidifier, it does not look bulky. On the contrary, the combination of black and white make it look like a regular household unit. Even though it can remove 2.5 times more humidity from the air, it only takes up slightly more space than a 70-pint dehumidifier. Another step I had to do before turning it on was to connect the drain hose to the drain outlet. The hose was long enough, so I could place the other end in my bathroom sink. The LCD display is large and lights up with large blue numbers when I turn on the dehumidifier. It is very intuitive to use. I can monitor the humidity levels and adjust the target humidity level by pressing the up and down buttons. If I do not press any button, it displays the current humidity level. I first put it to use in my bathroom, where I had removed the wet drywall due to water damage. The room was damp and musty, and I hoped the new dehumidifier would dry it up quickly so I could install new drywall. I turned it on and immediately noticed a difference. The relative humidity was over 75% at that time, but after a few hours, the room was hot and dry, with a humidity level of just below 40%. I appreciated the variety of safety features the unit is equipped with, including automatic shut off when the temperature exceeds 113 degrees Fahrenheit, automatic drainage with the built-in pump, and automatic restart with previous settings in case of a power outage. It also has an auto-defrost function for the evaporator coils and will shut down automatically if the temperature drops below 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Although I live in South Florida and may never need the latter safety features, it is reassuring to know that the dehumidifier is more than enough protected and I can leave it running for days without interruption. After five days of continuous operation, the bathroom was bone dry with a relative humidity of 26% and the musty odor was completely gone. The air was hot, but I expected that. I then proceeded to use the dehumidifier in other rooms of my home, but before doing so, I cleaned the filter located behind the air inlet grill. There was a thick layer of drywall dust on top of the filter, but I was able to rinse it clean with my garden hose and let it air dry. I also pressed the Purge button to drain the water that had accumulated at the bottom of the pump. To my surprise, I did not see a significant increase in energy usage when I logged into the website of my power company, Florida Power & Light. I was able to use the Energy Dashboard to monitor my energy consumption on a monthly, daily, and even hourly basis. During the days I was using the dehumidifier continuously, my daily energy usage fluctuated between 20 kWh at its lowest and peaked at 41 kWh, which was at the beginning. I roughly used 25 kWh without the dehumidifier running 24/7, and with it on, energy use increased to approximately 32 kWh a day. So, even though its rated power is 1200 watts according to the manual, it uses far less. The listed input power of 650 watts must be accurate. Thus, it is not as power-hungry as I feared according to the specifications in the manual, and it is cleverly programmed to save energy. I researched the exact meaning of rated and input power and I know now better why my energy use was lower than expected. Rated power is the maximum power consumption that a device is capable of using under normal operating conditions. Input power, on the other hand, is the actual amount of power that a device is using at a given moment. The input power can be less than the rated power, as many devices, like my new dehumidifier, have power-saving features that allow them to use less energy when not in heavy use. After that, I went on to dehumidify all the rooms in my home. It took me over three weeks. I doubted I could do it as fast as with my regular 70-pint dehumidifier, but ultimately, I was able to solve the moisture problem in my house once and for all. ... show more

  • Fantastic Dehumidifier, Outstanding Customer Service
Size: 240 Pints 8500 Sq Ft
This is a fantastic dehumidifier! I have a chronically damp basement and crawlspace that I've tried to cure with a selection of dehumidifiers over the years. None of them were up to the task until I purchased the Moiswell 240. Wow, what a difference! I immediately noticed a dramatic difference. It easily removed over 10 Gallons of water a day until it brought the humidity under control. It was so effective that I decided to purchase a second unit for use in the basement area. At first I had a problem with the new unit but their excellent customer service team solved that in short order! Both units a performing perfectly and I couldn't be more pleased with them and the entire Moiswell team. The fact that it has an automatic purge pump means that it never needs emptying and eliminating the need for a gravity drain allows you to place it wherever it's needed. If you need a dehumidifier capable of handling a large area and high humidity, buy this unit. You will not be disappointed. ... show more

  • Excellent product and support
Purchased this product almost a year ago and had been working very well in our basement, however going into spring I noticed it was no longer pulling moisture out of the air. I contacted customer support and after asking me to complete several reasonable troubleshooting steps I was referred to their tech support. Here again I was asked to complete another couple reasonable troubleshooting steps. After completing these, Aya (the tech support rep) recommended either a refund or a replacement. I chose the replacement which arrived after only a few days and it is working well. While the initial product did encounter an issue, I was very pleased with Moiswell and their commitment to stand behind their product and provide exceptional support. ... show more

  • Great unit for the basement
Size: 240 Pints 8500 Sq Ft
I recently purchased the Moiswell 240 Pints Commercial Dehumidifier for my basement, and while my initial experience was a bit rocky, I am now very happy with the purchase. The first unit I received unfortunately didn’t work, but I reached out to the seller and they were incredibly responsive. They quickly sent me a replacement, which was a huge relief and really showed their commitment to customer satisfaction. Once I got the replacement up and running, the dehumidifier has been doing a great job of keeping my basement dry during the humid summer months. It’s been able to handle the space (around 1700 sq ft) without any issues, and the pump and drain hose have been very convenient for continuous drainage. The only downside I’ve noticed is that it is a bit louder than I expected, but I believe that’s typical for larger commercial-grade units like this. It’s not overwhelming, though, and it’s definitely a tradeoff for the power and capacity it offers. Overall, I’m very pleased with this purchase. The dehumidifier is doing exactly what I needed, and the customer service was top-notch. Highly recommend it for anyone needing a high-capacity unit for large spaces! ... show more

  • Dry basement again
Size: 240 Pints 8500 Sq Ft
We ordered this for our basement as our other one was unable to draw enough moisture out due to all the rain we have been getting. The product is great. First time in a while it gets the moisture down and unit turns off. Has a built in pump and comes with a tube drain line that we drain into the sump pump. Customer service is great as we had some issues. The first one stopped working and they replaced. Also helped provide support for the new unit as internal drain hose to pump came undone during shipping. Recommend this unit for the efficiency. ... show more

  • Excellent Product & Customer Service!
Size: 240 Pints 8500 Sq Ft
I purchased this dehumidifier in June of 2024. It comes with a 5 year manufacturer's warranty. The first two years for the entire unit, and then last 3 years for parts. Set-up and use was simple. It's quiet. I have this unit in a basement of a decent size building and it is able to keep up and performs as it should. I did run in to an issue with the unit and needed to contact customer service. Their customer service was excellent and easy to work with, and responded in a very timely manner. After a few emails back and forth for trouble shooting, they determined the best option was to send me a new unit since it was covered under the warranty. I would highly recommend this company and their products. ... show more

  • Have a damp smelling cellar -- this might be the answer!
Size: 240 Pints 8500 Sq Ft
My old cellar humidifier bit the dust and I needed another unit to keep the area livable. We had black mold on the drywall several years ago, so I am very sensitive to keeping the humidity low. What makes matters even worse is that my son has his fish tanks (he sells fish through eBay) in an adjacent room. He has 48 fish tanks all of them producing humidity. I needed a commercial-grade dehumidifier - not just some dinky unit from a box store. This proved to be a good investment. It is a big unit, weighs about 100 pounds, but is on wheels and easily maneuverable. It has a modern digital display which importantly has the room humidity showing all the time. It has a long hose that can be placed from the unit to a sink or to a drainage pipe and a purge system to mobilize all its water if that is what you want to do. It is not cheap but if it keeps the humidity out of your room - even with 48 open fish tanks in the next room - it is worth it to me. Black mold is a terrible health hazard associated with excessive humidity that I do not want to see again! By the way, it got the humidity in my large basement from 60 - 70% to under 40% in a day and that is where it stays. ... show more

  • Great Customer Service
Size: 240 Pints 8500 Sq Ft
This is my first commercial-size dehumidifier. I did a lot of research and kept coming back to this Moiswell brand. Decided on this 240 pint unit for my 30 x 24 workshop (that is not yet insulated) and it works very well to lower RH levels in short order. The only problem was in my first use there was a small rubber tube missing inside of the unit that connects the pump outlet to the side drain hose nipple. The symptom that led me to this discovery was water everywhere inside and outside the unit and needless to say this was very disappointing. I contacted customer service at the start of the weekend and did not expect to hear back until the following week. They replied to my email that same weekend night and resolved my issue as well as offered me small compensation for the inconvenience. I hope the unit proves to be reliable into the future, but I do find re-assurance in customer support provided by Moiswell. Highly recommend. ... show more
