Let’s be clear: this is not an air conditioner. It’s what we in Texas used to call a swamp cooler: air blows over something cool and you feel cooler with it than without. I don’t recommend this product at all. At first, it seemingly worked great, but unfortunately it significantly leaks water. I don’t know if mine is defective or what, but it destroyed a small area rug and damaged our floors. We now can only the use the fan mode, which sucks. Works exactly as intended, just make sure you keep water in it. Nowhere near as cold as a window unit, but if you load it down with ice it can get fairly cool.

The ice packs only lasted about 20 minutes before losing effectiveness, so I resorted to using regular ice cubes, which did provide a slight cooling effect.
