I live in public housing. Top floor. 11th. Heat rises. My heat/air unit went out. I did not think the replacement would happen quickly. However the unit cooled a room at a time in my 700 square foot apt. I used an large cooler blocks from the freezer along with cold water storaged in the fridge. It does take a bit to cool a room. I know I'll use the unit again in the south when we have the humid 90s as a supplement to the air conditioner .

I really hoped this unit would work for my small studio. I purchased it based on positive reviews, expecting it to provide some relief from the heat. Unfortunately, it didn’t perform as expected. The ice packs only lasted about 20 minutes before losing effectiveness, so I resorted to using regular ice cubes, which did provide a slight cooling effect. Thought it would be cool like close to an ac unit from the reviews and try it out and it was just a waste of money especially with the hot weather i started to use it more and now its too late to get a refund so if you want to save your money get something else than this. Better than any fan but not even close to even an ac unit.

Let’s be clear: this is not an air conditioner. It’s what we in Texas used to call a swamp cooler: air blows over something cool and you feel cooler with it than without. We definitely freeze the ice packs in our freezer and put 2 in at a time. We wondered if we would keep the unit, given that we live in a fairly humid place. The answer was that we managed to get to sleep on an uncomfortable night. We’re keeping it.

This windowless A/C unit was our saving grace when our HVAC had toxic mold and we could not use it. It kept our main living and dining room cool enough not to sweat. We did need to replace the ice packs (and thankfully had plenty of our own to throw in there and alternate) pretty frequently (about every 2 hours or less), in order to keep the air that came out cool enough. This does not cover a large room well, just a smaller space. It would be fabulous in a normal to small size bedroom. It was okay with capturing a portion of our living room and dining room, enough to keep us comfortable - 2 of them would have been better. But, overall it served it's purpose well!
