  • Grew quickly
Some bulbs were sprouting in package. Planted and most, if not all, came up. However, my jerk of a cat kept eating the leaves so I had to move it. I’m hoping they will fill out, but I am pleased with the ease of planting and the amount of bulbs that sprouted. I do feel they have more of a burgundy color rather than purple, but the color is still intriguing and attractive. ... show more

  • Not viable?
I was so excited to get these that I even bought them a couple of pots. Mine did not have any roots like the pictures people have posted, they were just the corns. Not that i think about it, I think they were rotten. Well, almost a month since planting and nothing! I dug a couple out to look at them today, and nothing, absolutely no signs of life! I am an experienced gardener, they have been treated right. I used the same soil/ perlite mix I always use, planted them an inch down pointy side up, have kept the soil pretty dry (corms will rot with too much moisture), and they are all under my starter plant light. I am so disappointed! On the positive side, I have empty pots for new plants. ... show more

  • Perfect!
The bag was sealed but it seems the corn were in there a little too long. When I opened the bag, the plants were already growing and stretching for light and moisture was too high and I could smell it No fret, because as soon as I planted them, they started to do well. I initially thought I was only going to save 5 because moisture was too much and most looked dead because of it. However, I planted them in moist soil, and after a while 5 became 10, then 18. So if you received your package like mine, just plant them in moist soul, then water after a week but do not saturate the soil. Give them a bright window. In my humble opinion, the germination rate is perfect! ... show more

  • They grew!
I am new to purple shamrock, but I divided my corms into three batches, and the majority bloomed within 9 days. I am happy with my purchase and would buy from this seller again. So excited!

  • Beautiful and Fun to Watch
I got these corms in a healthy condition. None looked like it was rotting. I wasn't too sure if they were all going to grow because some had roots already and some didn't. I put them in 5 inch nursery pots within the 6 in ceramic pot. I split the corms into 5 pots. I wanted to grow these and give them to my coworkers since they look like butterflies. At first I was nervous when I didn't see any sprouts popping out, but after 2 weeks or more I started seeing one, then another. What is interesting about this plant is the way it folds its leaves in when the sunsets, it folds like an umbrella. I am happy with my purchase and I will buy again. Since I will be giving them away, except one, I will see if it fills out. ... show more

  • All duds
Unfortunately, not one of the 20 bulbs sprouted. I planted them all as they looked quite dry and sad upon arrival, so I did several large pots and planted them in moist soil about an inch down. 2 months later and not a hint of growth. Disappointing as this is a lovely plant. I'll try again in the summer. ... show more

  • Only 3 out of 20 germinated
The rhizomes came in a foil lined ziploc bag. Most of them were moldy black. Only a few looked viable. I planted the better ones in one pot and moldy black ones in another pot. After 2-3 weeks 3 of the better ones sprouted. No sprouts from moldy rhizomes. Instead tiny bugs that feed on decomposed organic stuff showed up in that pot. I had to dispose it. One of my leaf has a butterfly pattern. I am not sure if rest will be bright purple like product pic or butterfly pattern. Either way they would look nice. I wish they had a better germination rate. ... show more

  • Fresh
First package of bulbs did not arrive and items were replaced. Second package came and there were more than the listed amount of bulbs and some were even starting to bud. I will definitely order these again.
