  • Powerful and Quiet Dehumidifier
Size: 80Pints
It works efficiently and was very easy to set up. It came ready to use, so all I had to do was plug it in and turn it on. I used to have a small portable dehumidifier in my laundry room, but during rainy days, the room would still develop a musty smell even with that running all day. This new dehumidifier is much more powerful and works great for a larger space. The dry clothes mode is especially useful for the laundry room and helps clothes dry faster. I also really appreciate the child lock feature. The sleep mode is impressively quiet, and I’m even thinking about buying another one for the bedroom. ... show more

  • Efficient and easy to use Efficient and easy to use
Size: 80Pints
This dehumidifier is a real lifesaver, especially for large spaces. It’s powerful yet quiet, and it quickly removes moisture from the air. I especially like its built-in humidity control, because it keeps the humidity stable without needing frequent adjustments. The drain hose design is super convenient, too—no more constantly emptying the water. I haven’t tried the drain hose yet though. Overall, it feels efficient and easy to use, and it’s perfect for keeping the room comfortable. ... show more

  • A serious upgrade from my previous dehumidifier A serious upgrade from my previous dehumidifier
Like many Americans, I have a basement in my house, and that basement gets damp. Not wet enough to make a sump pump necessary, but enough that mold can grow if we don't stay on top of the moisture. I had two dehumidifiers down there at one point, which did an excellent job, but one died and this unit will be replacing it. It's larger and has more features than either of the ones I had before. This dehumidifier must have gotten knocked around a bit in transit, because it arrived with some plastic shards. Some came out when I extracted the power cord to plug it in, and another one is in the main part of the unit and rattles around when the fan first starts up. I haven't been able to figure out what broke inside to create the shrapnel, but it doesn't seem to affect the function of the unit. Instructions for setting this up included letting it stand upright for 24 hours before plugging in (standard for appliances with refrigeration/compressors) and then running it on "clothes drying" mode for another 24 hours. I did that first 24 hour run in the main areas of the house (just to make sure it was working and safe) and then put it down in the basement. It's been running there for a week now; this being winter, there's not a ton of humidity in the air for it to remove, but it's doing its level best and the tank is slowly filling up. The fan gives off a low hum when it's working; you can tell it's there, but the sound is not disruptive. The last thing I wanted to test on this dehumidifier is whether it would auto-shutoff when the tank was full. This took a while, because the tank is honestly huge. (With my previous dehumidifier, I'd have to empty the tank at least once a day in summer, sometimes twice.) Finally, the tank filled, and it did indeed shut off until I emptied and replaced it. To avoid this chore, two lengths of tubing are included that can be run to a drain, although they are not very long; I'd suggest hitting up your local hardware store and buying a single, longer piece if you want to do that. My house is wide, so the basement is pretty large, and I've missed having two dehumidifiers down there dealing with the dampness. This one is certainly up to the task, and I'm happy to add it to my appliance collection. I do think the price is fair for the quality of this unit. ... show more

  • Very effective, lacks some features for the price. Very effective, lacks some features for the price.
I was pleasantly surprised by the effectiveness of this dehumidifier. It reduced the humidity levels in a walk-in closet above the garage from about 58% to less than 40% in a few hours' time. Letting it run over night it reduced it down to 35%. It's not feature packed, but it does have three different settings (normal, dry, fan). The humidity levels (30-80%), fan speeds (low and high), and some other settings can be adjusted. It does have a timer and automatic off settings, but they are time or humidity level based. If you set a low humidity level (30-35%), the unit will not automatically shut off if the water tank fills. It will no longer extract moisture from the air, so there is not much risk in the tank overflowing, but an automatic shut-off function when the tank is full should be a standard feature for a unit in this price range. Once the tank is full (it holds 1-3/4 gallons), the unit begins to make an annoying high pitch rattle. Besides the "full" icon on the control panel, which is not highly visible, the noise is the only indication that the tank is full. My other issue with this unit is that the control panel does not illuminate. There is an indicator panel that illuminates to tell you what features are on/off and what the current humidity level is, but you have to stand directly over the unit to see the control panel to make adjustments. Again, that should be a standard feature for a unit at this price range. Normally, this would be a 3-star rating because of the average features and controls for this price range. But the effectiveness of this unit in reducing the humidity levels boosts it to 4-stars. ... show more

  • Quiet enough to forget it's on
This dehumidifier has been easy to use from the start. The controls are simple to figure out, and switching between the different modes doesn't take much effort. The noise level stays really low. At times, I've had to look at the display to tell if it was actually running because it stays that quiet. It's nice not hearing a constant loud hum in the background, especially at night. It's been pulling a surprising amount of water from the air. After running it for a while, I was honestly surprised by how much it had collected in the tank. Dumping the water out was simple and didn't make a mess, which I appreciated. I also haven't had any leaking issues. The overall look blends in easily without standing out too much, and so far, it's been doing what I needed it to do without any problems. ... show more

  • Quite for a compressor based air dehumidifyer Quite for a compressor based air dehumidifyer
I've had multiple dehumidifiers over the years. I usually add them to my basement spaces in cities I've lived in where they average higher year round humidity. Lowering the humidity in the basement helps the whole house breath better and stay cooler in the summer. Most people don't realize their air conditioner has to bring down humidity before it can start to effectively cool. So, fighting musty smells and mildew in basements isn't simply about the basement. It's about keeping the whole house healthy. This style of dehumidifier is able to work on its own and handle a fairly large space because it uses a compressor. The amount of moisture it takes out of the air will come down to the relative humidity and temperature, but I like setting these units to target 45% which is considered much lower than you're supposed to go. The recommendation most often you'll see in manufacturing specs is 55% but EPA usually says 30%-50% should be comfortable and healthy. As you can see where this unit is running for my tests it's currently below 40% humidity in my house. That's considered dry for most folks, but I grew up in a desert climate so I prefer the dry air most of the time. During the winter, it dropped below 20% in my house - today the outside air is 60%. This unit is quiet for a compressor. The highest sound measure I got from right on the machine was 60db which is a normal conversation volume. Moving away from the machine that measurement will drop significantly. There is still a sleep mode on the machine that goes quieter still. ... show more

  • Okay quality, large capacity dehumidifier Okay quality, large capacity dehumidifier
This is a good, not great, dehumidifier. The instruction booklet is laid out nicely and easy to understand. The white finish is smooth with a nice appearance. The foot print is small, but the unit does require 7-3/4” inches distance from anything beside or behind it for air flow. The touch buttons and indicators on top are easy to identify and select. The unit has two speeds, which on the low setting, is quiet and should not disturb tv watching too much. On high speed, you'll likely want it in another room. For the test period, I placed it in my living room and it's been kicking on/off without too much distraction. It does weigh a little bit and seems a little top heavy. The unit has four, 360 degree casters that allow the unit to easily move on smooth floors. On carpet, it may be easier to just pick it up. Getting the air filter off/on for cleaning is easy. The plastic water collection tank comes in/out easily. The tank has a ½” wide clear gauge on the rear corner for keeping an eye on the water level. The unit comes with two each, 3’ sections of ½” hose for connecting a dedicated drain line. Three star rating negatives: - The collection tank is not very well made. The plastic is thin and the tank can easily break or crack if dropped or bumped in to something hard. The handle and support brackets are flimsy and could easily break off, especially when carrying a full tank of water. - The drain hose connection is not too difficult to access, but I question how well the hose will stay connected when slid over the male fitting. (This could be why they include two hoses. The mfg knows the hose opening widens out and does not stay in place.) If the unit is moved or bumped, the hose could come off without the user knowing about it. The one solution would be securing the hose in place with a screw hose clamp. I like that the unit includes two each, drain hoses, but there is no fitting for connecting the two hoses together to have the full six feet of length. - The flip-out brackets to hold the electric cord are also poorly made will likely break off within the first month of use/storage. Overall, I don’t know if this is a good unit and value due multiple issues. If the manufacturer went "inexpensive" on the tank assembly, what internally/mechanically have they gone “inexpensive” on? - Unless you’re in a pinch, I recommend looking for a different dehumidifier. ... show more

  • Compact and easy to use dehumidifier!
For how compact this dehumidifier is, it is such a good price and easy to use! The water removal process is quite easy and simple. It is very effective, I can tell a noticeable difference in the humidity in my room and the whole house when I move this machine around. It does not disturb my sleep with the noise, meaning it is quiet enough to use at night and does not require a large space as it is not that big in size. ... show more
