I would give TEN STARS if I could!! This refurbished laptop is in pristine condition both operationally and cosmetically. No nicks or scratches. It runs FAST and has an incredible battery life. It was delivered timely and well packaged with signature required (which I appreciate because nobody wants to have anything that valuable left outside their front door). PLUS……. after I transferred everything from my old MacBook to this one, I had a small issue with the charging cable staying connected. I messaged the seller and the customer service I received was INCREDIBLE. They went above and beyond to make sure my “new” laptop was fully functioning. TEN STARS for the actual product AND for the customer service. I am a customer for life!!

1. Device was supposed to be an “Excellent condition renewed” but the laptop was not fully functional and the listing is misleading. The first thing I noted was that automatic brightness and True Tone options were not working or even showing up on display settings; the display colors looked too cold and uncomfortable to look at. Ran Apple Diagnostics Tool and got Error ALS001 “There may be an issue with Ambient Light Sensor” and terminal reported “ALS not found”. Did a deep research and found out the display on this MacBook Pro was likely replaced with a cheap OEM display that might not even have the Ambient Light Sensor (OEM parts that includes the sensor are more expensive) and, on top of everything, it was probably replaced by a third party shop and not APPLE itself. 2. The battery had almost 230 cycles at 88% capacity. Considering other buyers got batteries at 99% - 100% this one was very worn out. This is something I was willing to accept, as for the renewed lottery some battery wear is expected, but this a completely different scenario to get a laptop with crippled cheap replaced OEM parts. 3. The charger is not Apple Mag Safe as stated in the listing , they sent a cheap USB-C generic 118 w charger that will risk damaging your device. 4. The MacBook Pro otherwise was in good condition, without major or severe scratches or dents. *Had to clean it, came very dirty. I decided to return the laptop because it’s unacceptable to spend +$1000 on a supposedly “excellent condition” renewed Apple device that must be fully functional and end up getting a device with a replaced OEM display, that lacks the most important sensor on which other functions like True Tone, automatic keyboard brightness and automatic display brightness rely on. This is cheating on the customer.

I was hesistate to buy the renewed product at first but the price for a new one is just ridiculously high. After reading a few reviews, I decided to go with it. Just to clarify onething that it seems to be missing from other review, the one I bought was shipped and sold by amazon, and thus the experience may vary. The laptop arrived and I am very pleased with it; it's virtually brand new and no sight of abused. The laptop has 97% battery health. Keyboard has no sight of broken key. Screen, the most expensive part, has no scratch. Machine runs and the heat seems to be at a normal level. One thing to note, the product did not come with original packaging but it is not a big deal for me. On the other hand, the laptop did not come with mag-safe 3 cable and the power adapter is just a generic one. You may get the correct adapter but for me, they sent me a different charger. The listing said it comes with 140W charger but I only got the smaller one. I contacted support and they are very quickly to resolve the issue.

I work as a web developer and designer, and I also record a podcast. I've had a 2017 MacBook Pro for use in all my work, including intense graphic design with Photoshop, Illustrator, and other programs. I'm a web developer, so I will be running task manager software during development, and at the same time, I'll be using graphics programs while having far too many tabs open in my browser (thank you to the developers who added tab groups to the browser!). That old MacBook is nice, but starting it up alone tends to result in the fan kicking in. That's not ideal when I'm recording into my podcast mic. While the first and main reason I was looking to get the M1 was for podcasting purposes, I will say that the M1 exceeds my expectations for my other needs. I can design and develop multiple projects at the same time, and the M1 handles it all with ease. Even while editing video in Premeire Pro, I've not had performance issues. I can do all my tasks with the computer plugged in or on the go, and battery life has been outstanding. I think most people purchasing a refurbished unit have concerns about the possibility of compromised components, but with this product, I've not been able to identify any issues. When I learned that the M2 was going to be released, I decided to make the purchase of this refurbished M1. Based on my understanding of what the M2 was going to offer, I was quite certain this M1 was of incredible value by comparison, with upgrades not being substantial enough to warrant the price. In addition, if you are able to purchase a quality refurbished product, hopefully that results in less unnecessary production down the line. I cannot recommend this M1 enough at this time.
