  • Packs some power
Color: Black
Much to my amazement This little inexpensive heating element packs some power, it heats up my 5 gal bucket of water to 120° in18 mins . In my case till plumbing issues get solved. I Drop in my compact pump and instantly have a hot shower or wash dishes 😁 comes with a handy temp gage .

  • worked for me
Color: Black
A longer cord on the heater would be nice but overall it is a good product and works as described.

  • Powerful little heater
Color: Blue
As a test, I was able to raise the temp of 2.5 gallons of water from 68° to 112° in 10 minutes with this which I found pretty impressive. In the past while camping I would sometimes heat water up for dishes (have 5 kids, so we sometimes end up with a lot of dishes after meals) in order to clean them a little better or when it is too cold to otherwise wash dishes without freezing your fingers off. This would be done on the cooking stove (I have a 40k BTU two burner one that can really crank out the heat) but that costs fuel and since I'm usually already paying for a camping site with power, I might as well get my money's worth by using something like this. But, quite honestly, I was struggling to see what other applications this would be good for. After all, this does require power and I had a hard time seeing scenarios where I would have power and not have hot water otherwise available. Camping seemed the only viable one for the lay person, but I could see more applications on a farm. I did find a pretty neat use of one of these combined with a large cooler (to hold the water) and a water-to-air heat converter with a fan on it and a pump to circulate water. That contraption was able to output air temps up to 130°+ which could be super useful as a tent heater in colder camping environments. I recall a time camping early season in Yellowstone with air temps around 32° where that would have been super valuable... All in all, very compact and powerful bucket heater that I will be adding to my camping kit. ... show more

  • Great for warmer baths
Color: Blue
I have spent the last couple years not using my bath tub, because the water heater is too small to fill it entirely (even with it turned up to 150 degrees), and boiling pots of water on the stove to supplement it is too much of a hassle. I didn't even know you could buy an immersion heater, and when I saw this I knew I had to have it! I was nervous about using this, because appliances that heat rapidly and/or draw large amounts of power have risks. There are instructions included that spell it out for you exactly how this should be used (under supervision, fully immersed before plugging in, etc). The translations are a bit off, but I think they are easy enough to understand. I used a heavy duty extension cord (12/3 SJTW) with a grounded outlet with no other appliances plugged into the same circuit, and monitored the cord and ends for heat. Everything worked fine, and it didn't trip the breaker. I noticed small bubbles on the heater and I assume this works similarly to an electric kettle. I kept a close eye on everything the entire time I ran it, and checked the temperature frequently with the included thermometer. The downside of the thermometer is there is no on/off switch, so you have to pull the batteries to turn it off. I didn't subtract any stars, because I wasn't buying this for the thermometer, and I can get a better one later or use one I have for cooking. It took 15 minutes to raise the temperature from just over 100 degrees to 104-107 (depending on what part of the tub I measured), at which point I unplugged the heater, removed it from the water, and set it in the sink. It was great having a hot bath, and waiting 15 minutes for it was not a big deal. It's also safer because I don't have to carry pots of boiling water through the house. When I needed to heat the bath up more, the hot water heater had had time to heat some water, so I didn't need to use the immersion heater again. I wouldn't recommend using it after you've added bath products, because it would probably gum things up. It also comes with a handy storage bag, which is a plus for me. I can keep the scrubber it comes with and the thermometer in the same bag as the heater. I'm thrilled to finally be able to take hot baths, and have the heater nicely tucked away in its storage pouch in my bathroom drawer. ... show more

  • Works great - just wish the thermometer was built in
Color: Black
This water heater works well but I wish the thermometer was built in or had the ability to turn off once the desired heat was reached. I got this to help with cleaning out our fish aquarium but also plan to use it for the kids kittie pool and water table in the fall because they still like to swim and play with the water but get cold at times if using the hose. This is one of the more affordable immersion heaters on the market so it definitely wins in that category. Overall a pretty great product, just hope i don't loose the thermometer part. in the mix one day. ... show more

  • USE A GFCI outlet
Color: Blue
This is a nice solution for heating wading pools or buckets of water for other uses. DO NOT put your hand in the water while this is plugged in. There is no switch on the heater so unplugging it is the only way to make sure there is no electricity going into the heater. The cord is thick and feels substantial. The heater seems substantial and able to heat up a pool or bucket of water easily. Included with the heater is a digital thermometer so you don't have a reason to 'test' the water by putting fingers/hand/feet into it while the heater is plugged in. This is an IMMERSION heater. Do not use it if it is not totally immersed in water. The heat generated by the heater will 'burn out' the heater quickly if it is not totally immersed. There are plastic caps on the top and bottom of the heater to help it keep from melting the pool/bucket. This is not a toy. Pay attention to it when you are using it. Monitor the digital thermometer. When the desired heat is reached, UNPLUG the heater before removing it from the water or putting your hand/foot/fingers into the water. The reason this is not getting 5 stars is that there is no 'short circuit' protection in this device. That is why I recommended using a GFCI outlet when using the heater. At least then the outlet will protect you in the event that the heater 'shorts'. Again, this is not a toy. ... show more
