Dial in your grind size ( good, burr grinder, any bean really ) Buy a REAL heavy tamper (to replace the included plastic spoon one ) to get a nice tight puck with NO voids ( you can't really OVER compress your puck so give'er'hell ). This machine will do the rest, its job is simple and it handles it well at a great price. For troubleshooting / dialing in you'll want a scale to confirm beans in and water out ratio. I also recommend upgrading to a bottomless portafilter ( 51mm with the three tapered lobes ) . I wasn't tamping hard enough and the bottomless portafilter showed me that water was traveling through voids and spraying out. ... show more

I like the looks of this model—it’s hawt & sleek and has a small footprint. Doesn't have many features, so it's good for beginners like me. Seems it makes small shots. I’m wrong though; a double shot equals a little over ¼ of a cup, just like it should be. There’s a plug under the reservoir tank—be sure to take it out before you fill it up, or it’ll spill water everywhere like it did for me (the instructions do tell you to remove it). It's a nice size as well. Heats up quick. I thought the pressure gauge was just for fun, but it does actually work. It doesn’t build up much pressure, but I am using just standard coffee grounds. Haven't had any leaks from the basket yet. Turn the power off when done because it keeps the system and the cup warmer on top hot. I’m not reading anything about an automatic off, and I left it on for over half an hour, it seems like. I does give off a faint burnt plastic smell, hopefully that will go away after awhile. ... show more

Decent little machine to get you into the hobby of espresso at home. Build quality is okay at best, very plastic all around. Uses a pressurized double basket portafilter - 51mm 3-ear version. The included tamper is not great and should be replaced. Grind very very fine. Crema is more of a foamy faux head, but decent. Overall for the price it's okay, but I think you could spend a bit more and get better results. ... show more

I’ve had a great time with the espresso machine. I had to try a bit to get the pressure to stay around 20 bars I wish the pressure gauge had numbers on it to have a better idea than just a suitable zone for pressure. I did have an issue once where I frothed milk and then wanted to brew an espresso but it wouldn’t let me and I think I spent 10 minutes trying to figure out what was wrong until I realized the knob on the side was still in position for steaming. The basket was great I know sometimes you’ll get baskets with manufacturing defects in them but both of mine had no holes blocked or any other issues I’ve seen others have. The bobber on the drip tray is a nice addition but I’ve never seen it pop up and wonder how much water would have to be in there without you cleaning it out to pop it up. The steam wand works great too I was able to get good micro foam using it and was happy for the pull tab on the steam wand if it does get too hot to touch. The size of the machine is also small and was happy I could put it on the same table as my other coffee machines. If you want to get into espresso machines this is a great choice. ... show more
