Wow! I would say this hoist was great at any price, but for the price I paid, just wow. I don't think I could have bought the steel (which seems first rate, by the way) locally for this price. Hydraulic jack worked right away, no bleeding or dicking around needed. Admittedly, my 1098cc engine wasn't much of a load test, but everything went off without a hitch. Load leveler got the job done, but was definitely the weak sister in this package. Very poorly crafted, even though the steel was sufficiently rugged. Lead screw may have been turned with beaver teeth? It'll get the job done. ... show more

Very sturdy piece of equipment. The usual Chinese instructions were sorely lacking but assembly was easy. I wish that two stress areas were using grade 8 bolts along with spacers to keep the hydraulic cylinder arms centered in their anchors. Other than this, everything appears to be well built. I really liked that a leveler was included. I'll be using the crane today to lift out an 865 lb straight six Chevy engine. So, we'll see how it does under pressure. ... show more

Looks and feels sturdy. However, the crane base tips over when pulling the engine. It also has a short reach. I'm working on a 70s car. The ram jack hits the bumper before the boom gets over the engine. If you extend the boom, to 1/2ton, the engine weight will tip over/forward. It's a just a small block Ford. ... show more

This hoist worked for what I needed it to do. Pulled a Toyota tundra engine without an issue. The leveling sling is not high quality and drastically limits the lifting height clearance below the engine. Hoist can be useful for lifting other heavy items on your own. The quality of the hoist itself is to be expected for the price listed. I have used way worse lifting equipment in a professional setting and this one does well. Maybe the paint job and quality isn't top of the line. The structure itself isn't too robust, square tubing wall thickness is probably a minimum required to meet the weight lifting rating.     • Pump failed on day 2, lifting 300 pound transmission

The item came boxed in an organized manner. Unfortunately, instructions on assembly were very brief, and I struggled understanding one of the early steps, so my assembly took hours, when it should have been about 30 minutes or so. I bled air from the pump as the manual instructed before first use. I lifted a Prius engine (approx 350 lbs). That went fine. I then on the next day lifted it the transmission (300+ lbs). During this lift, hydraulic oil began seeping out of the seal closest to the plunger on the pump. Each time I pump, more oil seeped out. I have since stopped use of the device and have failed to reach customer support. I’m not sure where I put the manual, but after multiple calls to Amazon Support in search of a way to contact EliteEdge, I have been left frustrated. I’m have had to pay for a REAL jack/pump called Big Red for $60. So , if you waste your money on this device, I advise considering the possibility on needing to replace the jack portion very soon after use. One star lost for Amazon failure to provide correct number, or offer further assurance, one star lost for device failure early, and one star lost for the only place customer service number is provided is in the manual. ... show more

Well, I haven't used it to pull a car motor yet, but I have used it to assemble a 4 post lift (mostly be myself), install a heavy duty after market bumper on my pick up and love a motorcycle motor. The pump lifts quickly and holds pressure pretty well. I was able to move it around pretty easily while lifting heavy items and it's pretty stable. The only draw back is the paint comes off very easily, but I really do't care about that. ... show more

the package is 175lbs all together, that alone says enough. best deal out for a engine hoist i coukd find for a quality product to lift my hemi engine. plus it came with the lever to adjust the engine so you can balance it evenly.
