If you need to replace a plug that will be rarely unplugged these will work fine. However, these have no strain relief. There is no provision to clamp the main cord after the screw connections at the bare wire. . The proper way to unplug is of course to pull on the plug. If you tend to pull on the cord, it may come disconnected where it is attached at the screws. ... show more

This is a good, economical replacement plug, but it should be considered for use only on “light duty” and controlled use applications. The main reason I say that is because the cord is held ONLY by the three connections to the blades, with very small screws… small enough that it is tough even to get good grip on a stranded 16 ga wire. If someone “unplugs” the plug by pulling on the cord, I can see how it could easily pull the wires loose. I’m using them and companion receptacles, to make smaller extension cords from a long, damaged 16 ga cord previously used for lawn equipment. I’ve been able to salvage multiple cords (that I’m able to customize length for specific uses) from a cord that otherwise would have had to be discarded. I recommend the product, but qualified by my comments above. ... show more

I use these to make extension cords from old appliance cords. And they are fine! I admit I was skeptical after reading reviews for these from other vendors. So many complaints. So let's address them. "Screws too small. May not hold when pulled out by cord". Dude, You are NOT supposed yank them out by the cord! "They don't look "heavy duty enough"". They aren't! They're rated for 15 amps. I have no doubt they'll handle that just fine! "The screws are not COLOR CODED".. True, they are not. But if you can't tell common from hot without colored screws.... you shouldn't be installing these in the first place! Bottom line, if you want heavy duty, be prepaired to spend 5 to 7 bucks each. These are $7.00 for THREE. They are a great deal. I will definitely buy them again! ... show more
