This is my first time using a saddle for one of our hens, so I don't have the most credible experience differentiating this product from others... its definitely awkward to put on the hen, I couldn't tell if I did it correctly since it looked a little uncomfortable around her wings. But it's been on for several weeks now and her feathers have actually started to grow back well! I can't say if it's effective against roosters or not, we just had a problem with hens pecking.

She’s not to bothered by it any more at first she was but has not anymore. It does the job and it’s stayed on great. Stiff fabric at first but now seems to mold to her body more.

I have a few adult RiR layers that needed a break from our roo so I thought I would try these. While they are definitely well made, they would not fit around the wings and snap, even on the longest setting.

Protects back, not wings. The other day the whole apron got flipped upward and the poor chicken was walking around strangely, uncomfortably… The aprons have been partially helpful.

I got this saddle to replace a broken one that one of my hens had. She is a favorite of the roo's and poor thing has been practically defeathered by their amorous intent. Unfortunately, while it covers the top, it doesn't have much side coverage, so without her feathers on the side to protect her, one of my roosters gave her a pretty sizeable gash on her side. She was pitiful when I checked in on them this morning. She's moved to the infirmary again and I'll be keeping her there and taking care of her wound until she's better. I'm considering giving her to a friend of mine who only has hens. That will be after she's feeling better and has some feathers on her again though. I think the material itself is fairly durable. I just wish it went down further on the sides of the back. I personally won't be using it again for her.
