  • Ground needs to be a little soft

  • Good alternative to conventional digging & cement for the right applications...
Number of Items: 1
It's currently winter here in southeastern Michigan but I'm planning to erect a short, temporary enclosure to use as a dog run and didn't want to have to dig to set posts. That's where these "no dig" fence post anchor ground spikes come in handy. I will be using these with some used 4X4's and 2X4's for the frame and then I'll staple some chicken wire to the wood structure. I like that these are one piece assemblies which adds strength and durability. The welds are OK but a few appear to be rushed and not so good. The powder coated finish could be thicker as I suspect rust will set in where the finish appears thin. Being my structure is temporary I'm not concerned but be advised. Overall. I'm happy with these supports and give them my recommendation but am deducting 1 star from my rating due to the items noted above. ... show more

  • Know that physics plays a role.
Number of Items: 1
Thinking of putting up a tall fence with just some spikes? Don't. With a spike depth of only about a foot, there's just going to be way too much leverage for this to hold. Understand that there are limitations, including the strength of the soil, and this can be fine. Something like a short picket fence, mailbox post, or temporary barrier, I can see working. Construction wise, it's welded 1.7mm thick steel (about 16 gauge) with the post box at 91.4mm square (about 3.6"). This fits a nominal 4" x 4" post. The 8 holes are 6.9mm in diameter, so a 6mm or ¼" lag will clear. Two side drainage holes and one in the bottom center are present, though I would still suggest sealing the end of the wood post. When hammering this into the ground, use a piece of scrap blocking as a spacer as the edges aren’t designed for hammering on. So long as one understands that there are limitations to how and where this can be used, it's fine – 5 stars for that. Just don't challenge physics as it may not end well. ... show more

  • Good Fence Post Anchor Ground Spike
Number of Items: 1
Very easy to install and made the job easy. We don't need to dig the hole for the post and it work very fast. Very strong and sturdy. I used to drill 4*4 and put the rebars and stick it to the ground for garden fence but now very easy to work with. We are very happy with this and need to get more.

  • Sturdy Anchor
Number of Items: 1
This post anchor works great and is very heavy duty and sturdy. I tested it in very stiff clay soils and while it dud provide some stability, getting the anchor into the clay was extremely difficult and since the hole ended up wider than the anchor it wasn't as sturdy as it could have been. That being said, placed in concrete this would work very well. Particularly to repair a broken post that has difficult access or to reoair in place without removing the post and resetting it. ... show more

  • Easy to use, just follow the instructions
Number of Items: 1
This fence post anchor was very easy to use to set my post for a railing for my garden. I liked that this anchor was well made of heavy duty steel that has been wielded nicely with all slag and sharp edges removed. The whole assembly is thoroughly coated with a black powder finish that should help prevent rusting. The installation instructions are included and explains how to install this anchor. Following the instructions, the installation went smoothly and easily. Minor knit is that the post holder is slightly larger than necessary for my 4x4's but then I guess it's better bigger than too small. I can add some small shim to take up the looseness. Included screws worked well and I appreciated the drain holes throughout the post holder box assembly. Nicely done. ... show more

  • Spear Style – Light Duty
Number of Items: 1
I wouldn’t use this spear type post holder for an end post of tall/privacy type fencing. There is just not enough support from the short, tapered fins on the 12 ½” in-ground portion of the fitting. This post holder seems more suited for short post applications, such as garden edge decorative fences. I do like the finished above ground appearance. I will use this post anchor for a 42” post tucked into the flower beds. It will serve to support hummingbird feeders. Using this anchor means that I can move it, if need be, until I find the spot the picky little guys like. ... show more

  • Much better than concrete. Welded, 1-piece (not 2-piece)
Number of Items: 1
Please be aware that some of these post anchors arrive in 2 pieces, and you're supposed to bolt them together. They're probably fine, especially for smaller projects, but welded 1-piece anchors are always going to be sturdier. This is welded and 1-piece. Weld spots are a bit sloppy and could have been done more thoroughly, but not a huge complaint, it should work. This doesn't seem to represent any savings over getting the name brand. Also, keep in mind 16 inch is for very small projects. I personally think it's too short for a mail box. They also show a pergola with a swing attached, and that is ABSOLUTELY not possible with this tiny 16 inch anchor LOL. But it's fine for a short picket fence. It's also fine as a support under the deck, or as a makeshift footing. For installation, I suggest pre-drilling using a piece of 3/8 rebar (in a normal drill is fine if you don't have a hammer drill). That will help you check for rocks or other obstructions, and will also help guide it in straight. Use a level, plumb line, or both. ... show more
