It’s keeping the fence up for now! One of them hit a huge rock, probably will happen if you live in New England, so it’s up from the ground about 3 inches but it’s still holding just looks a little silly. This is a great fix that doesn’t require you to replace anything if your post are still good, but it’s not going to look nice. Very obvious bug place things holding it up. Someone mentions doing one on each side and I might have to do that, we’ll see how the first wind storm goes but this is 100% better than the cinder blocks I was currently using.

I have seen this kind of post repair kit in two variations. First is the single piece variation and the second like this one consists of two pieces that are held together with nuts and bolts to make one piece. This ground spike anchor has recently shown up in the market and now seems to all over the place but really is an excellent idea to repair a post here or there which tend to rot at the point the come out of the dirt or sometimes, the dirt around that area gets soft and the post just falls to one side. This anchor will work for posts that are inserted into the dirt without concrete support or concrete at about 3 inches around the circumference/permeter as this needs to be hammered into the dirt and if there is concrete, one would have to break into the concrete, which can be done but is a lot of hard work. As far as being heavy duty is concerned, these sure are heavy and seem to be well built. Take care not to damage/scrape the paint during installation as that would keep these from rusting and hence should last a long time. They are large enough to provide support once installed. As another user pointed out, ample nuts and bolts included although the screws that go into the post are thin and small...which is not very useful for a post that is old/water damaged on the surface and aged. You might need to get heavier and longer screws to insert into the post as that is the weakest link on this item as provided by the manufacturer. The fact that the hardware is not rust proof is ok as cosmetically, that will not really be visible.

These do exactly what they're supposed to do which justifies the cost. They have made my rickety stair posts sturdy again. I expect the steel will last a long time. However, the bolts are standard chrome so they will probably rust in no time which is a minor nuisance. They include plenty of hardware, and in fact I think I got an extra pack of screws and bolts. I would have been happier if they included lock washers - there shouldn't be much vibration so they may not be needed but I like to be extra sure. The included flat wrench is pretty useless. It's a tad wider than the bolt heads so when you torque with any strength the bolt slips and gouges the cheap wrench. Fortunately they include a drill attachment that works much better. It's also a bit of a problem that the hex key has a screwdriver on long end and the hex head on the shorter end. This makes it really hard to set the bolt in the deep C channel with the hex head because you only have maybe 15° of rotation. I used a different hex key I already had.

I had several 4x4 fence posts that were leaning badly after a storm. These heavy-duty steel ground spikes worked perfectly. I drove them into the ground next to the posts (no digging required) and they straightened everything right up. The spikes are thick, well-made steel with a sharp point that goes into the soil easily but holds incredibly tight. I used the included U-brackets and long screws to secure the posts to the spikes, and now my fence is rock solid again. I did 4 posts with this 2-pack and still had pieces left. These are a permanent solution — no more wobbly posts. This is one of the best fence repair products I’ve ever used. Highly recommend for anyone with leaning or damaged posts!

This Fence Post Repair Kit contains the components to assemble 2 post “spikes”. The package contained 2 bags of assembly hardware, each with enough for 2 posts, so there was double the hardware needed. Each hardware bag had nuts, bolts, washers and screws. Another bag had all the tools needed to assemble the spikes, a flat wrench, drill bit, allen wrench with philips end, and a hex socket. Including the assembly tools was a pleasant surprise. There were no assembly instructions in the package, but assembly was intuitive based on pics on the Amazon listing. The spikes are made of rugged metal and are nicely finished. I used one of the spikes on a wobbly mailbox post with the expectation it would address the wobbliness. The spike was rather easy to install but it tended to go in cooked as it was driven into the ground. After a couple attempts, I managed to get it to go in straight. The spike did somewhat stiffen up the post but not as much as expected, thus the 4 star rating.
