Recommended. Works quite nicely. I tried to make one of these for myself with large pipe and pipe caps - do NOT recommend doing that. The pipe cap simply broke and my homemade gadget was probably dangerous. Instead, I strongly recommend buying one of these. It is tough and a lot safer. Can drive in posts that are tall or short with it.

Beats the heck out of a sledgehammer putting in 4x4s at the dock. Loaned out to some neighbors also. One recommendation to manufacturer: Make the handle tubing wider top and bottom so you can grab those spots easily like handlebars in an overhand or underhand grip.

I just received this from UPS, had to risk getting muddy after the rain just to see how this did driving 2x4s for my pig fence. All the boards so far have been set using an auger, but using the auger has given me problems out here, thus making me buy this. I set the board it is sitting on in the ground as far as I could with the auger, but used this driver to get it further in the ground, and it works well! I will be using just the driver now probably, it seems to work well and is quite well made. However, it is heavy too, but that is good so you don’t have to exert yourself as much when driving posts, just pick it up and let its weight do the work for you.
