Due to the limitations of NOT being able to ship a one piece strut without a crate to protect it, and a SEMI TRUCK to Deliver it, this solves those issues. A strut is also known as a u-bar or a brace. It will run the length of your 16’ door. As your garage door opener opens it pulls on the middle of the door. Thus creating stress to the door with the risk of creasing the section and the collapse of the section. This strut brace will help reinforce your garage door. Different model garage doors have different outside center stiles. The pre-existing outside center stile holes in the strut may or may not line up with your door’s stiles. Not to worry this is common and not a problem. The included self tappers will drill holes in the strut to attach it to your stiles no matter their placement. Included is 2 - 8 Foot Door Strut Support Braces, 1 Strut Support Brace Coupler, Assembly Hardware, and Mounting Hardware.

The product did correct the sag in my door. As others have mentioned shipping wasn't the best. The tube they sent it in didn't even have the seal on one end and the brace was bent where the end had been crushed. It came with no directions of any kind, they may have fallen out if they shipped any since the tube was missing one end. There is no way to put it together for the holes to line up so you just have to guess the best way to do it. ... show more

So my double car garage door is 20 years old and it began flopping/sagging in the middle when fully opened. Appearance wise it was fine, but the door opener was beginning to strain in closing due to the sagging at full open. I priced some replacement doors and with installation we were looking at north of $2K to replace it. Ouch. No one carries these "struts" in the big box stores, so I took the risk of ordering this item. SO GLAD I DID. The item was shipped via UPS and arrived quickly. It came inside a rigid 8ft tube that protected the metal parts from damage during shipping. Easy to assemble and it INCLUDED all bolts and lag screws to fasten to existing door. Door sag is fixed now- no bowing/sagging all full open. Door opener runs much smoother. Saved $2K easily with this purchase. Highly Recommend this product. My old top strut was failing after almost 20yrs on an otherwise perfect 16x8 garage door. New strut arrived in excellent condition and fast via UPS in an undamaged box marked “Fragile”. Took all of 5 minutes to bolt the 3 pieces together and about 20 minutes to install on my door. It’s very sturdy and it noticeably made a difference in support as opposed to the old one. Once it was in place I only had to pre-drill a couple holes easily, because a couple of the mounting slots didn’t line up with my Clopay door. The strut came with plenty of extra self-taping screws. I would recommend this strut for anyone looking to replace their existing top strut. ... show more

    • Bent bit works.
I bought this to replace a bent top strut. Arrived in cardboard tube but the corners were bent, and it bowed. Also the pre drilled holes don't line up well.

This product completed solved the sag in my 16 foot garage door, and in terms of that issue, I would normally give 5 stars. But whoever manufactures this should make ALL of the holes oblong. Some are round and didn't perfectly line up with the holes on my door. If the holes had been oblong shaped the holes would have lined up. I had to drill and expand 3 holes so that I could put the lag bolts in. While not a major issue, it was inconvenient. ... show more
