I am very pleased with this kitchen knife set. The quality is quite nice, they have substance but are not unduly heavy, the ergonomics are excellent, and they are razor sharp. Be careful with these. They are so sharp they will cut you if you stare at them too long. Well, almost. I also love the roll bag, because I do not like storing knives in a wooden block on the counter. With this set, I can lay the bag in the open position inside a kitchen drawer. I also love the hard polymer sheath that each knife comes in. They protect the cutting edges well in addition to your fingers. I recommend these knives be washed and dried by hand, individually, not in a dishwasher. I say individually because you don't want to be fishing around at the bottom of your sink for them and have your finger come into contact with the cutting edge. They will cut you before you know what happened. I also suggest wiping down the handles occasionally with food-grade mineral oil. This will protect them and keep them looking great. I define value as the sum of an item's practicality, quality and price. Using this formula, I can say in all honestly that they represent an extremely good value for your money. This knife set is gorgeous—razor sharp, sleek pakkawood handles, and the roll bag makes me feel like a traveling culinary ninja. The problem? I am not a culinary ninja. Day one, I barely brushed my pinky against the blade and—boom—instant regret. My finger went numb, and I’m still waiting for it to forgive me. These knives don’t play games; they will cut through onions, tomatoes, and your ego all in one swipe. On the bright side, my chopping skills have never looked cooler (when I’m brave enough to use them). Just be careful—these knives are sharper than my mother-in-law’s comebacks. I bought these knives for my son as a Christmas gift because he loves to cook, and they were a huge hit. They have a beautiful artisan look to them and feel much more special than a basic knife set. The blades are very sharp and work well for everyday cooking tasks like chopping vegetables, slicing meat, and general prep, so definitely be careful when using or cleaning them. They also have a nice weight to them without feeling awkward or too heavy. I especially liked that they came in a cloth roll-up case, which makes them easy to store or transport. The roll-up case is great for storage, but since my son uses them regularly, I ended up getting a magnetic knife block so they’d be easier to access every day. Not a complaint about the knives at all, just something to keep in mind depending on how you plan to store them. We hand wash and dry them right after use before placing them back on the block, and I keep them away from the stove and sink to help prevent moisture damage. Overall, they look beautiful, feel practical, and made a really nice gift. My son loves them! He lets me use them and I love them too! ... show more
