  • Quick to charge, quick pairing. Better features and apps than most MP3 players
Style: 144G
I was surprised when I plugged the player in after unpacking that it was charged at 100%. That began a very positive experience with this player. I own several of these including 3 IPODs. This 144GB MP3 Player ranks near the top in comparing with other inexpensive MP3 players and even the more expensive IPODs. The setup was very easy and saved a lot of time because after logging into my Goggle account it picked up passwords and other information from my other devices (Samsung tablets and phone). The player contains many useful apps and a few not needed. The not needed apps were quickly deleted to create a little more storage in the device. Bluetooth function worked quickly with Bluetooth speakers. I hooked up the 144GB MP3 Player to my laptop and quickly added hours of music and only taking a dent out of the included memory card. This is the first player that included an app that accessed the music folders I had created on the card and played them as I had created them in folders on my computer. Transferring files was very fast. This 144GB MP3 Player gives you access to the play store which opens up the ability to install other useful apps. I installed Sirius XM and played music from an XM station all night the first night I had the player. By morning the battery was still at 80% - excellent battery life. At the current price point this 144GB MP3 Player is an excellent choice. Last - the sound via Bluetooth is better quality and with more bass than my other inexpensive MP3 players. ... show more

  • Dac for better audio quality
Style: 144G
The KeenPlus is pretty unique as a player under $100 with a dac. It is one of very few (3 or 4) that I have seen, and the others all have some quirks, something missing. While this player is still not up to the specs of my FIIO(s) they now cost several times as much, which means it is not a reasonable comparison. If the Keenplus compromised anywhere it is in having an older prodcessor. The processor is not specified in 'about tablet" other than it is 8 core. Most of the 8 core players I have seen use a 20 year old mediatek processor. Whatever it is, Android has only been updated to 9. That is good enough to run most audio services. The player comes preloaded with most of thje popular services and the chrome browser. It also has interet radio, a more useful app than most. It has a large, bright touchscreen, and sensible, easy to use, software. To be accurate, it is a 16 g player iwith a 128g card. That is ample storage, but less room for programs than "144g" would lead you to believe. Still, it is a very capable player with a very good build quality and attention to detail. I would venture to guess that this is the best sub $100 player avaiiable at this time. It is about 20-30% larger (and thicker) than the average player but still easily pocketable. It comes with a clear protective case, ready to use ot of the box. Lest I forget there is a headphone jack, which many newer players are missing. I have tried dozens of players and this is one of the best built, and as significantly, best sounding players under $100. ... show more

  • An always-plugged-in cost effective streamer for a home stereo?
Style: 144G
Think about this thing as being a 10-year-old Android phone with no camera and no ability to make phone calls. Yes, it's an MP3 player, but I think it functions more as a music streamer (no Apple Music) than anything. This could be really helpful for a home stereo, music for working out if you don't want to carry your phone, or maybe a young person who wants to listen to music, but you don't want to give them a phone. But here's where I'm baffled... Why not just use your phone or tablet? I'm sure there are use cases, and for the price, it's really compelling to use for certain things that you don't want to use your phone for. The build quality and design are really good, and it even comes with its own rubber case. The sound quality was good to me; it sounded just like it does from my iPhone. The interface was a little slow to me. Going from an iPhone 15 Pro Max to this really feels like a step back, but it works, and it doesn't need to be super snappy. For my use case, though, it's not really working out. I wanted a music player to put my audio files on to listen to without my phone. Being a Mac user, you will NOT be able to transfer files directly onto the device without a third-party app. There are paid apps out there, but I just wanted something free to transfer some tunes to this device. I used something called openMTP. I can't seem to figure out how to get everything to go on the included microSD card, or I'd just use that. Also, the microSD can only be removed with a SIM ejector tool, which is a bad choice to me. Why make it so difficult to remove? The battery died really quickly for me, and charging it was difficult. It wouldn't charge with any USB-C cable. I tried several cables, and they wouldn't work. I used the included cable and plugged it in to my computer, and it wouldn't charge. The only way I could charge it was by plugging it into my couch (which has a USB-A port), and even then it took more than a day. It went from dead to 3% and then 16% and then back to 3% and then finally 100%. I don't know why it was doing this; I turned off wifi and Bluetooth to make charging faster as well. I'll also note that from boot-up to being on, it takes over a minute. This became annoying every time I wanted to use it. I can leave it on, and it will go into a sleep state, but at some point it seems to want to shut off anyway. As a Mac user, I just find the Android OS to be wonky. That's a personal preference, though. I don't need to be able to download apps, check email, or anything else from my music player, and I don't trust the security on a device like this to start entering my user information. But, like I said, if you wanted an always-plugged-in inexpensive streamer for a home stereo or something like that, this is a compelling option. ... show more
