  • Poorly Constructed and not Heavy Duty
Thought I found a bargain replacement for my 3yo Home Depot heavy duty tarp. Same specs as the HD tarp- 10mil, rope reinforced hems, reinforced corners, metal grommets, etc. I used the HD tarp for ~ 3 years on most summer weekends as a shade cover, and it finally started to tear at (1) of the seams. I used this new tarp for (1) weekend, and several grommets started to tear out. I can also see daylight through (1) of the seams, that indicates to me that the seam won't last long. Several other grommets were mis-aligned with the fatory-punched holes in the tarp material, so that you can see open partial holes next to the grommets. This tarp is also lighter weight than the HD tarp, which makes me believe that it's not really 10mil. This is not a heavy duty tarp, maybe medium duty at best, and it is not well made. ... show more

  • Not worth it
I purchased this to place over a structure to prevent rain-this did not work at all. After a few hours of drizzle and some steady rain the tarp allowed water to comes through. This was the only reason that I purchased it, and it did not do it's job. I would not recommend.

  • So far, it hasn’t failed, water proof.
Came with one deformed grommet. Edge started to pull apart when stressed but did not fail. Began to show wearing thin within days of using especially at contact points. Not so sure about “heavy duty”, more like medium duty, yet it has not yet (one week) failed. Just doesn’t appear this will stand up very well. ... show more

  • Feels a little light and not as smooth as others I've used, but generally seems fine
This is a large silver tarp with grommets. I’ve got a bunch of tarps that I use for all sorts of purposes such as weed control or protecting things from the elements. I got this one, though, to possibly use in conjunction with a projector screen in my bedroom. I have a screen that’s a bit over 10 feet wide and about 7 feet tall. This room has two windows, one of which is directly behind where I wanted to hang this screen. While I do have the window covered, I wanted to have an additional barrier behind the screen, and I wanted to have the tarp provide a little bit of extra structure. Plus, my intention is to roll the screen up when not in use (I am using a 12 foot pole for pools to hang the screen – the pole is attached to opposite walls and the ceiling), and I figured that a tarp behind the screen could protect the screen from dust. In order to use this tarp, though, I would have to fold it in half. While this would just barely fit the width of my room, I don’t have 16 foot ceilings, so I would have to fold this in half. I ended up finding a different tarp, a white one, that was 10 feet by 8 feet. The 10 feet isn’t quite wide enough, but it’s close enough, and the 8 feet ends up being a good length, so I am able to use the grommets from all four sides without having to fold things in a weird way. Thus, I no longer am going to use this tarp for its originally intended use and will just add this to my collection of tarps that I can use for whatever. There’s nothing wrong with this tarp, but it does have a more fabric-y texture than other tarps I’ve used – it’s not as smooth, and I can feel all of the threads. It might be a little thinner than most that I have as well, a thought that’s reinforced by how light the whole things feels. I’m sure it’s fine, but if you need a really heavy duty tarp, I’m not sure if this is it. ... show more

  • Got It To Cover Furniture Temporarily, Good For That
We are in need of doing some work in the house so we have to put furniture outdoors temporarily while we work on the room. Some of this needs protection. This tarp is good for that. GROMMETS Because of the grommets we can use this with bungee cords since we get a lot of wind in our area. THICKNESS This is thick enough to protect and bend around the furniture yet not crack or rip. OPAQUE I also like that it is not see through to protect the furniture from the sun when it is out too. OTHER USES Lean to Under tents Protect from wet ground garage sales THE BOTTOM LINE This tarp is helpful to protect our furniture this summer while we try to replace the floor in a room. MY RATING FIVE STARS so far. We will probably also use this for other things like putting under tents or other items that need protection. You can also make a quick lean to by attaching the grommets to trees at an angle and staking the bottom two grommets to the ground. ... show more

  • Great tarp for handling the Colorado weather and sun, but not heavy duty
This is a medium duty tarp that is perfect for use in Sunny areas like Monument Colorado. The other tarps I have used here only last one summer because the sun destroys them. This tarp is very reflective and should postpone its demise due to the intense summer sun out here. The grommets are placed nicely. However, this is not heavy duty. Here are the general rules: standard duty (5 mil), medium duty (10 mil, this one) and heavy duty (15-18 mil). But over time the use of the term heavy duty has been so abused sellers will apply it to anything to bring in customers. This medium duty tarp is adequate for many uses, but if you really need heavy duty, look elsehwhere. My partial enthusiasm for this tarp is due to its reflective and medium duty combination. ... show more

  • Read description closely - Only 10 mils thick
This is a good tarp for covering trailer loads of debris. It is a decent tarp and a nice size, but I would go for overall use I would choose a thicker one. In all fairness to the product, this seems to be properly advertised, with the exception of "heavy duty", which is what I relied on. I think it must mean "heavy duty" strength. We have several heavy duty and super duty tarps and this one I could immediately feel the difference. When I looked on Sam's to see what I normally buy they were 12+ thick for the heavy duty and go up from there for the super duty. I even have some "light duty" from the dollar store that are 4 mils thick. It is probably a great tarp for medium use, but not for covering boats or hauling things in the yard, especially at this price. ... show more
