I was really hoping this would work for my side door on my house because the rain goes right off the roof to the steps, which is not only loud, but you cannot even open the door without getting wet. The install is not perfect, as I was only able to utility two of the bolt holes, but it feels very sturdy and I am happy with it overall. I also like how the unit comes with covers fot the bolts that match the rest of the support beams. I had to seal off a small opening with silicone between the awning and roof where water could still drip through, but after that, it looks and functions great. ... show more

The support struts are light plastic BUT amazingly strong. I had trouble keeping the translucent panels inserted in the struts until mounted, but once in place, the design works. In the first month we had a storm with freezing rain and 40 mph winds, then a week later an even stronger wind storm. This awning seemed unaffected. Not even wiggle or rattle. I have over my patio door and BBQ where there is no other wind protection. I tried a canvas BBQ cover but it was destroyed by wind that was much less strong. ... show more

Directions don’t mention sealing, but recommend added silicone to edges,, after heavy rain water got inside the panels and froze as ice

Not as easy to assemble as they show in their video and video is more complete than their written instructions. Parts are hard to fit together, and in spots where they say there are holes for screws, there aren’t any.

This awning rails and "glass" are plastic. I worry if it will stand up to a tropical storm. I mounted over a window air conditioner in my workshop to keep leaves a rain water from directly flowing into it. It has worked so fare. Installation is straight forward. First, the product is a very attractive awning, but it is so flimsy I didn't believe it would last very long. The contractor I hired had no problem putting it together, but advised me that he didn't believe it would stand up to high winds, rain very long. A large plus is that I had no problem returning it, just the cost of hiring someone to do work putting it together.
