Was skeptical about this small welder beforehand but after using it to weld my boat trailer back together it amazed me. Works really well for such a small machine. Can’t beat it for the price!

I'm a total newbie when it comes to welding so I included a friend of mine who is an experienced welder for the review. Everything you need ( except welding helmet and protective jacket ) are in the box. It is very compact and not too heavy. I had to learn how to find the right setting for a correct weld. Very easy with this machine. Overall my " teacher " considered this a great way to learn about welding and it would be good for small to medium applications. I learned the hard way that you need at minimum a 20a, best a dedicated breaker or you will visit your breaker box frequently. Can't wait to start some projects to get some practice.

Growing up, I had access to my father’s arc welder, a big heavy red Lincoln on wheels and with a giant crank on front for adjusting arc and a heavy 220 volt cord on back. It towered and buzzed in the corner of the shop but worked its magic with power, with authority. As an adult I’ve often missed having that potential but never really had a serious need nor adequate space to justify the expense of owning my own welder. But then I happened to see this little welder listed on Vine, and it’s listed at such a low price, and I immediately ordered one. I could not be happier. This little unit is just simply fantastic. While it cannot fully compete with bigger units, within its realm it does all that is needed. After many decades I can again strike an arc and hold a steady bead to watch two pieces be joined. A list of projects and repairs can be tackled with ease. This is no toy. Along with the creative potential, there is serious power and danger if not respected. You will need to purchase eye/face protection making sure the helmet glass is rated for arc welding. Gas welding goggles would allow serious eye damage. A 220 volt electric plugin is not needed. Normal 110 house current with a 20 amp breaker is all that is required for power. Gloves, substantial cables a few welding rods, are included. A minimal instruction brochure is supplied but if no previous experience I would advise some serious time on youtube before starting out. If you have ever thought about getting started welding, this is a great place to start.

Unboxing this machine was a real surprise for me. The outer box itself is quite small, so I'm thinking "Just how small IS this thing?" It's really small! In fact, the total weight of this machine is 4.85lbs! It's smaller than a small loaf of bread. Everything except a welding hood is included in the package; Lined cotton gloves (wrist length) a simple wire brush/slag tapper, the ground clamp and of course the electrode/rod holder... The manufacturer realizes how friendly and portable this small form factor is - they supply a shoulder strap that connects thru two slots on the top of the machine. Yes, I can actually put this machine, on it's strap, over my shoulder and use it as a wearable item. Tying an decent (10~12 awg) extension cord thru my belt loops easily facilitates this type of use. Can this machine produce a good weld? The answer is yes! I did a few test beads on some 1/4" steel and had slan easy time of it (see photo) I'm not saying that I'm a great Welder, but this machine does a good job of providing a very hot arc. Appearance of the welds are dependent on the skill of the user. To be honest - this machine has plenty of heat. I could easily burn thru 1/4" plate if I set the amperage to maximum...but for the basic structural welding and jig welding that I do, this machine delivers everything I need. It's very satisfying to have such a lightweight, portable machine that allows me to work so freely. Climbing up a ladder with the strap around my head and this machine beneath my shoulder is nothing at all. My tool belt weighs more than this machine does. This tiny Welder is easy to pack around, for sure! For the price point, this is a very good deal. When considering all the positives of light weight, size and ability to weld steel on structures, I feel like this is a perfect tool for me. This compact welder punches well above its weight. It produces a stable arc and handles common rods like 6013 and 7018 smoothly, making it suitable for home repairs, DIY projects, and light fabrication work. It's deceptively lightweight and easy to carry. I was expecting it to be much bigger and heavier, but the small form factor belies its capability. The digital display is bright and easy to read, which makes dialing in the correct amperage quick and convenient.
