It's not a big come along and I didn't expect it to be. It is well built for medium duty tasks. I used to to slowly straighten a tree and have used it for hoisting some deck beams into place. As long as you're operating well inside it's weight rating it's fantastic.

Bought two 1/2 ton chain come-a-longs at the same time to see if the price of the name brand was justified… it’s not. This cheap one works just as well lifting and lowering, and is even better when you put it in neutral. Chain adjusts easily, with minimal headache, while in neutral, unlike the name brand that turns into a game of tug-o-war every time you want to let chain out with no load on it… The name brand sits in the toolbox collecting dust while this cheap one is out doing the work…

I purchased this little chain hoist to use in my blacksmith shop. I have a 200 pound swage block mounted on a stand and is difficult to change sides and ends by hand. I built an arm over the swage block and use this little chain hoist to pick up the block and rotate it where I need it. When I say small, that's what it is but it works for me. Easy to operate, just follow the instructions. I can't tell you how much more weight it will lift because I am only using it for the purpose stated. I gave it all 4s because I have only had it for a week. Maybe a year from now it would be a 5 or less. Just don't know yet. So far, it works great. TT

I had to replace the AC roof unit on my RV I live in and needed a hoist to lift up the new one and lower the old one down. Being a disable Vet on limited income I had to be careful of the cost. This hoist fit the bill. Not too expensive to break the bank but more then able to handle the load. Between this hoist hung from a strong tree branch next to the RV, and some long lift straps run though a pallet, I was able to easily swap out the AC's roof units and quickly restore my RV to comfortable living conditions.
