My wife bought me this hoist for Christmas. Good quality, works smoothly. One word of cautioned when getting it out. The manufacturer used some type of shipping / preservation oil on the black chain and it is very messy. To be prepared to get really greasy when un boxing and hanging it.

Wish I had bought one of these years ago. Even though I have tractors and loaders this is much more precise and safe for one-man use. The one ton unit is faster than the two part heavier lift unit. Perfect for the shop lifting stuff up to one-ton which covers most things. I had been using a come along and this is infinitely safer and more controllable plus has a much shorter lifting height. Only problem is the chain was off the track and I had to take the cover off to put it back right. Just one of those things.

I needed a hoist for my new shop but I did not want to break the bank on a super fancy one as I will use it probably 15-20 times a year. I found this hoist and was surprised at how affordable it was do I decided to give it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the hoist, and how easily I hung it up, oiled it, and started using it. It’s very sturdy and built well. I would certainly recommend this hoist to anyone who needs one for a shop.

I wish I could give zero stars, completely useless. The chain you pull to operate the hoist jams about every 12 inches, no matter how slowly and carefully I tried to use it, it, it just kept jamming. I finally gave up after only lifting a 50 pound object about 6 inches.

Immediately hung and used to lift a large jointer from shipping crate onto portable stand. Only issue out of the box was the chain was wedged between the pulley and cover. I had to remove cover to put put the pull chain back in the guide channel (let's be real, this was a 2 minute fix... no big deal considering the price point of the hoist). The jointer was only 350-400 lbs, well within the capacity of the equipment and it handled it effortlessly.

I used this to pull/install a small 1500cc motor in my MG. It worked fine, although I did have to shorten the pull chain, since it was overly long for my use case. Pulling the chain felt pretty bad though. The action was rough and would hang up every once-in-a-while. Overall it worked for my use case, but I wouldn't trust it with something much heavier.
