These are really nice. Right from first picking them up I was impressed. If you have been thinking about getting binos this size and power, these should be at the front of the line. So, here's why. Rubberized coating feels great. Comfortable. Smooth, easy, sharp focusing. Adjustable eye cups. Nice weight (1# 3 oz,). Lens caps included. Adjustable for individual eye focus. Decent case. Binos fit easily, not crammed like some cases. And last: The great price point. In this instance, you get more than you pay for. Highly recommended.

These are very good binoculars. They come nicely packaged and include a carrying case with strap, strap for the binoculars, and lens covers for the eyepieces and the objective lenses of the binoculars. The shell of the binoculars is a softish (not quite rubberized) plastic coating over the I assume aluminum shell. They feel pretty durable and look very nice. The objective lens covers are attached to the barrels of the lenses and the lens covers for the eyepieces are designed to be attached to the binocular strap. You do have to attach the strap to the binoculars and when doing so thread the eyepiece lens cover on as well. The right eyepiece has a diopter adjustment for those who require it (I do, due to miopia) and it works well. Both eyepieces can be twisted to expend the eyepieces for use without glasses. I can use them with my eyeglasses on, but found it easier for me to just remove my glasses and use them without. This is true for me with any binoculars though. The optics on these are great for their price-point. The focused nicely for me and I was able to read mailbox numbers and license plates from neighbors cars from over 100 yards away. The optics were clear and the objective lens size lets in a lot of light so everything looks very good. I didn't notice any haziness around the edges of the view and as already pointed out, for the price-point I was impressed. The 10x42 power is a pretty standard size binoculars and as it turns out I have a pair of Simmons 10x42 ProSport series binoculars that I purchased over 7 years ago. I compared these KTTrey binoculars to them and I have to say they are very similar, both in features and performance. They both have the twist to extend eyepieces, both have the same type of lens covers, both with a rubbery like coating (although the Simmons is slightly better here, it is more durable feeling rubber), both come with a carrying case with strap and a strap for the binoculars (here the Simmons was better as well because the strap is much nicer). The Simmons I have are still available on Amazon but sell for quite a bit more than these, 90 bucks, however there are some other Simmons 10x42 that are closer to the KTTrey's 40 dollar range. The Simmons also felt a bit more durable than these, and since I've had them they have held up well. What really surprised me though is that I preferred the view through the binoculars on the KTTrey ones over the Simmons. Simmons aren't particularly known as high quality optics, but they are a known brand in optics so I didn't expect these budget ones to be as good. They aren't as good, they were better. I was impressed. Overall, these are excellent binoculars for 40 bucks. I would buy them again if I needed another pair.

Mrs Aloha Friday and I are avid backyard bird watchers, and have been sharing a tiny pair of binoculars between us for years. I finally had it in my head to get a pair for myself around Christmas, but put it off for months. Or more. ;o) Finally, the opportunity presented itself, and I found myself with this fine pair at last. Mrs AF is jealous now. Tough! They're MINE. One of our photos shows the size comparison, by the way. TAKEAWAYS: - They work exactly as they should, as an average, entry-level pair for adults or teens. You don't need anything fancy really, you just need something you'll USE! - They're better than Mrs AF's pair because they have a larger viewing area at 42mm. Hers are 25mm. Both of them are 10 times magnification. Mine makes the images in focus appear brighter and sharper, just as advertised. It allows more light into it and the images really are more clear compared to the 25mm. - They're heavier than Mrs AF's pair, but not too heavy that my hands shake when I hold them. I have a very large pair we travel with when we go bird watching or look at stars, and that needs a tripod to steady or my arms start to shake. Mrs AF can hold these without any issues, but she prefers her little one because it fits her eyes better. - It comes with all the standard accessories, like lens caps, one set of which are attached, lens cloth, strap and bag. - If you follow the instructions for focusing, you should have an easy time using them. Read carefully, and follow the instructions for each eye. - I don't wear my eyeglasses when using binoculars, so I'm not sure how that works out, but I don't see the cups built into them for wearing glasses. A LITTLE LOVE AND ALOHA: Get out there and look at things! Birds are difficult to spot in flight, stars can be tricky if you're looking straight up because even lightweight binoculars will move if you can't keep your arms steady in weird positions. But birds eating on the ground or sitting in trees are a great way to start. Squirrels are a nice large target to stay on as well, though they can be fast moving at times. There are so many cool things to see with binoculars that can get kids excited about exploring the outdoors. Enjoy, and aloha!
