When the 10Gtek arrived in the usual new "green" shipping package, I felt the "box" it wasn't the usual and I had to get this thing open and see what it is. The container it comes in is genius. It took the great deal I got and hope that it works to "Holy Crap this is So Cool!" and no doubts about it's operation. Upon opening the little metal box by sliding the top, there was the dongle. I had a bit of a problem taking it out of the plastic holder. But once out if it weren't for the way the device was presented I wouldn't have been as impressed. There's nothing initially special about any of these things, so it's not the only one that's "non-descript". Although it's a great value it doesn't seem cheap. I started to look for any specific instructions that if there were any special directions that needed to be considered. I took out the plastic holder insert the dongle came in and no little folded piece of paper with type so small you need a microscope to read it. But then noticed the instructions were painted on the under side of the lid which are simple, very readable and easy to understand. It fits like a glove when I plugged it in and is completely compatible with my UniFi UDM Pro and works without needing anything special. Pop it in and that's it. The system is showing it as if it were OEM. Make sure you use a minimum of a Cat6a cable, it does matter. The Heat Level, I haven't noticed anything more than warm. But I had the opportunity to add a fan, so I did. Speed wise, right now I only have a 1Gbps connection but I'm getting over the spec'd 940 Download/940 Upload speeds. This coming Saturday I'm having 10Gbps installed and I trust that I'll get darn near their spec'd maximum speeds. Can't wait.

So far, so good working with my 5gig connection, they do get extremely hot to the touch, but I havenโt had any issues in the few months theyโve been in use about 8-10hrs a day.

Bought the two pack, but they won't stay connected to each other. I bought these to connect my unity cloud gateway fiber to a unity enterprise switch. initially they connect fine and transmit happily for a few minutes, but within a few minutes the connection begins to flap and i get an STP event in the logs. Moving either end back to a regular ethernet port stabilizes the connection, although at 2.5G. So each module works fine individually, but it seems they cannot be used to connect to each other.

Arrived on time and was basically plug and play. I installed it in a UniFi UDM, and it was recognized immediately with no negotiation issues, no link flapping, and no manual tweaking required. It joined my 10GbE backbone cleanly and has been stable since day one. For a copper SFP+ transceiver, thatโs really what matters: clean link establishment, compatibility, and reliable throughput without adding complexity to the network.

I have an AT&T fiber Internet connection at 2Gbps connected as follows: AT&T modem 5Gbe -> CAT 6A -> 10Gtek module -> UDM SE SFP+ 10Gb port The AT&T modem shows negotiation at 5Gb, the UDM shows 10Gb. This 10Gtek SFP+ transceiver is appropriately negotiating it to 10Gb on the UDM side and 5Gb on the AT&T side. When I run a speed test from my UDM, the download is correct at near 2Gbps, but the upload is throttled to around 480Mbps through the 10Gtek. When I switch the AT&T modem to directly connect to a 2.5Gbe on the UDM, the upload speed jumped to over 2.2Gbps. So, for some reason this module is throttling down the upload speed. A quick Internet search will show that this is a known problem with the 10Gtek SFP+ modules. Edit: Seller replaced with the correct module that works at the lower speeds. This one only works at 10Gb on both sides of the link. Seller was very easy to work with and help me resolve the issue...so since this was not really a product problem, I'm changing my rating.
