  • These are the best crickets, they almost never die!
These are the best crickets I have ever bought, they are very healthy and barely die. When I buy crickets from the pet store they always die super fast. I have bought these same crickets a few times and never have any issues I keep them in a 40 Gal tank and always get 1,000 at a time they last about 2/3 weeks for my bearded dragons and again they stay alive it is rare that 1 or 2 may die. These crickets are much different then the regular ones and I also read up on them they have a softer shell so better for digestion! I will never buy any other kind!! ... show more

  • Very disappointed
These were not medium ½" crickets. At best, they were small - extra small ⅛-¼" in size. Disappointed. This ended up being 1 snack instead of many. There were no air holes/screens in the box for their week-long trip across the country during a heatwave, they were so small that they would have escaped. Which is exactly what they did the minute I started to remove the packing tape and stopped. Next thing I realized there were mini crickets all through my room. I hadn't even finished removing the packing tape from 1 side of the box yet. I I hadn't even gotten to the flap yet, it was just the side of the box. I have ordered crickets for years for my reptiles and birds and never dealt with this. Occasional escape if I checked them and closed the flap before transferring them, sure. Very disappointed in packaging, lack of proper live animal labeling, quality and description. No liquid gel cube for survival, nothing. I have no idea if I had even close to 1000, they were too small to group and count, their poop piles were almost as big as they were. ... show more

  • Bassett's is great. I've ordered from them directly before
Bassett's is great. I've ordered from them directly before. They are just as good thru Amazon. They are in California and close to me in Nevada. I got my crickets in 2 days all alive. They are the banded crickets which are not as susceptible to cricket virus as are the regular domestic crickets other cricket farms sell. Keep them in a tank with egg crates, keep the tank and egg crates dry but provide plenty of water crystals and they should do fine. A wet or moist environment will lead to them dying. Water crystals will keep them hydrated just enough to be happy. A piece of orange also helps. Dry cricket chow also recommended. If you see hairy worms of black beetles, these are dermestid beetles and their larva. They will eat the dead crickets and left over food. Some places charge for these beetles. I keep them in my cricket and roach colonies to help clean up the dead. Only bad thing I can say is I did get one huge brownish spider. Not poisonous but freaked me out. Thought it was a cricket at first. ... show more

  • Where do I start? Where do I start?
I read a review that someone found a couple spiders in with their crickets. They said they thought they were brown recluse spiders but the picture wasn't very clear. Well I myself found a spider in with mine so tried to take more clear pictures. I don't know what a brown recluse looks like but this is what my spider looked like before I killed it. I also found a few other bugs in with the crickets. A lot of the crickets are much bigger than the size that I ordered and my geckos won't be able to eat them...I guess I'll try to start breading my own...maybe. In my video I said I thought I ordered 1/4 inch, I was wrong and I ordered 1/2 inch, but still many of the crickets are much much larger than 1/2 inch crickets. My box came with two pieces of egg crate but they were not opposite direction of each other they were the same so as they shifted and moved they sort of fell into each other and I had some smashed half dead crickets. So I guess order at your own risk. ... show more

  • The crickets are alive and healthy. I’ll continue to order from them!
Let me start by saying that I’ve ordered twice from this seller. My stars are based on the second purchase and the video is from the first purchase. I was a little shocked at the number of large spiders in the box with the crickets! Unlike the crickets, the spiders could scale the side of the plastic tote I keep my crickets in. Once dumped into the tote it was a race against the clock to snag each spider before it escaped into my house! (Was 25 plus spiders) Fortunately I’m not afraid of spiders so I snatched them up with my feeding tongs, dusted them in calcium powder, and then dropped them into my monitor tank! Crickets, spiders, made no difference to them. They consumed them within 48 hours! The second box of crickets didn’t contain any spiders, lol. I was prepared though! As for the crickets, more arrived alive in the second box as opposed to the first box, lol. ... show more

  • Very very poor packaging and ZERO customer service Very very poor packaging and ZERO customer service
Very very poor packaging and zero customer service. Ordered 1000 crickets from Bassett cricket ranch. The packaging is sub par at best compared to other vendors. Of the 1000 crickets ordered and paid for, maybe a dozen arrived as the screen had come undone, thus allowing almost 1000 crickets loose while being shipped. Contacted this vendor twice along with Amazon and received ZERO response. How do they even stay in business with business practices like this? Zero stars if was possible but a one star summarizes my experience. Photos and videos provided. ... show more

  • Great crickets poor packaging. Over half the order escaped.
OK, I'm very sad to write this review because Bassett cricket Ranch has very good crickets But they sealed the boxes with a tape that did not adhere properly to the boxes I had crickets all over my front doorstep, even though I got the box within 15 minutes of delivery The tape was very loose, it was the shiny packing tape, not in industrial grade. Another 50 or so crickets jumped out in my entryway Even though I quickly emptied both boxes I only had 400 to 450 crickets left in each box. I did try contacting the seller who never replied. This is unfortunate because this company does sell very high-quality cricket, but I wound up paying full price and received less than half of my order due to their faulty packing tape ... show more
