Update - 10 months later. The tablet is still working great, but the included case, not so much. A plastic band along the side broke and now swings out away from the rest of the tablet. The case is no longer securely held to the tablet. TJD does sell a replacement case here on Amazon, but at $21, far too much for what it is. I'm not sure what I'll do, maybe try some tape, or perhaps look for a generic replacement that is stronger, or maybe quit using the case altogether. I'm dropping my rating one star because the included case turned out to be so flimsy. My 8-year-old 10-inch tablet was showing signs that the battery might be on its way out, and some of the updates of the old apps aren't available for Android 4.4 KitKat, so I bought this one as a replacement. This is an entry-level tablet, which is just what I was looking for. I don't do much with my tablets - I read ebooks, play the occasional puzzle game, bring up a weather radar screen when I'm in a hurry. I suppose I could do all that with my Android phone, but I don't like the tiny (by comparison) screen for those purposes. Anything heavier, and I use my Linux laptop. What sold me on this particular tablet over others that are similar was the included case and stand. The back being made of metal and the pre-installed screen protector didn't hurt, either. Neither did the fact that it was on a pre-Christmas sale. I've had it a little over three months now, and it's been doing its job like a champ. I don't recall any problems with the original setup, or with connecting to my home wifi. Youtube "just worked," and looked very nice, though that's one of the things I prefer on a larger 15-inch laptop screen. I don't know how long it would last on a charge, as I avoid letting the battery run down before putting it on the charger. But I can say that the battery lasts longer that the 8-year-old one in the older tablet. It was necessary to remove the tablet from the case to insert the micro-SD card, and that was a bit tricky, but fortunately I don't have to do that very much. My biggest complaint has to do with changing various settings from their defaults. It was easy with the KitKat tablet, because most of the settings were in one, central location. With this tablet, you have to look in several different places to find them. It's possible to turn the screen lock off, though the OS warns it's less secure. It's also possible to change the timer that shuts off the screen after a period of inactivity, or turn that off altogether - but doing so may discharge the battery more quickly. I was able to use the USB cable to connect to my laptop and transfer files, but again it took a few tries to find where to set the tablet for it. Once I transferred my ebook files and some photos to the installed SD card, I was able to replace the default wallpaper with one of my own photos, a beautiful shot from my first hot air balloon flight. Oh, yes - one more complaint, though it's not really with the tablet. One of my favorite games on the old KitKat tablet, Planes Drop, isn't available for newer Androids. Apparently, the author got tired of updating it, or maybe he graduated from junior high school and now has a job. Whatever the reason, I had to replace it with something different - one where you drop number tiles so they merge together. Addictive.

The charger that came with the tablet hardly works. We left it on charger all night and was showing it was charging but it was completely dead when we took it off the next morning. At first I thought the tablet malfunctioned, even put it back on said charger again showed initially as if it was charging, almost the whole day, took it back off and still nothing. I was about to have it refunded, my daughter was very upset. I decided to try & plug it into a different charger and luckily it wasn't the tablet but the charger that came with it but it wasn't until later on that day my daughter was finally able to use it. Also she's only downloaded a few games but had to turn around and delete a couple before she could play her favorite game. It says it has more space/memory but that doesn't seem to be the case so she was also upset that now she has a glitchy, slow starting/running tablet where she can only have a a couple games installed at a time. I am not happy about that because this is like the 3rd tablet that just wasn't up to par. All I wanted was for her to be able to play some games & enjoy herself but we've both been more frustrated with it than anything. I really can't afford an ipad but I may just have to figure out a way to get her one because I don't want to see that disappointed look on her face again over a tablet when it's all she's wanted. She has had some trauma happen in her little life so that look tears my heart right out of me. I am not satisfied but it's something until I can get her something that works efficiently so I'll still keep it but I really hope you can fix these issues for the next customer. Normally I wouldn't complain like this but as mediocre as you may think this is, it was a special gift for her to just so I can see her smile, so she would be happy & get something she deserved to have and I don't feel like she got that here, even though she was ecstatic when she unwrapped it for Christmas so I got to see her smile but it was followed with frustration & disappointment from the issues we've had since. Please do better with this tablet. I know sometimes these things just happen but that's when a company is really put to the test if they really care about the quality of their products & their customers or just care about their own wallets & bank accounts pushing out a quantity of not so good product. There's some people that, in reality, this is more than just an electronic, a tablet, a system, a distraction for kids, or something to check emails on but it's something that brings light to someone who really needs it so I do expect that this company work harder for better quality products for all their customers. For a cheap tablet, this does what I need. I bought it solely for the purpose of Vudu and Netflix. The screen quality is good. The volume does not get lound enough for me, but a little bluetooth speaker came to the rescue. The processing speed is SLOW. Just opening Vudu, selecting a movie and hitting play takes a bit. I wouldn't buy this if you are intending to use it for work or a bunch of kids apps. I downloaded 2 apps. It does what I need and I can't complain.

All are good for my music lyrics and chords--display is very nice. Within the first month, I thought one would not turn on, instead just giving a low battery symbol (with yellow exclamation point) even though plugged into a charger overnight. Now I think the charger wasn't getting house current. If you turn the tablet on, only get a no-charge icon, then try to charge it, don't jump to a conclusion until its been on a good charger with good cable for a half hour. I tried different chargers and cables, but just didn't wait long enough. I contacted Amazon chat, who put me in touch with the manufacturer. TJD emailed within a day, suggesting l wait 30 minutes. That worked and I boosted this review to 4 stars. If the three tablets last a reasonable amount of time on a charge and are still performing well in 6 months, the review goes to 5 stars.
