Appears well made and worked well to make a single espresso from a nespresso capsule. I have not yet tried with ground coffee. There was a reasonable amount of crema. It did come with 2 extra O-rings for the pump shaft (but this was not mentioned in the instructions.

So this is an interesting purchase. I loved the fact that it comes with two options: 1 for a k Cup and the other would be a refillable style. I tested this out with room temperature water and it was really easy to use. The flavor came out decent for using this as a camping accessory. Recommended for sure!

I tried it three times and it doesn't work well. I made sure I had the correct parts to use my own coffee grounds, I confirmed that I put it together correctly, and I made sure to follow instructions for how slowly to press the plunger. All three times the coffee came out lighter than if I had used tea leaves. The first time it didn't leak but the second and third times the leaking became progressively worse. It might work with the Nespresso pods, but I bought this to work with regular coffee since I don't want to buy special pods. I'll give it one more try after a bit but I'm afraid I'll just throw it in the trash if I try it again and it still doesn't work. UPDATE: I have given it an additional star now that I have figured it out a bit better. I didn't do anything differently but on the 4th and 5th tries it did make the espresso the proper strength instead of it looking like tea. Maybe by using it repeatedly everything inside fit together better from the pressure? I still don't like the sound it makes when pressing the plunger, but at least it makes espresso now! UPDATE 2: I like it better after using it several more times. It makes decent espresso with proper crema now but I still don't like the sound it makes when pressing the plunger. It's good for traveling or when you can't use an actual espresso machine, but I wouldn't use it on a daily basis.

ZZUOM Protable Espresso Machine is easy to set up and fairly easy to use. The espresso was pleasant for both the powder and the capsule. The instructions aren't the greatest but it's not really difficult to use with a few exceptions. First, the box says it works as a milk frother but there are no instructions on how to do that. I assume you'd put the milk where the water goes and push it through but nothing except the description mentions this The bigger issue is calling the coffee "ground" coffee. this is misleading. Like all espresso machines it requires a very fine espresso blend. If regular ground coffee is used it's too coarse and the results will be brown water. The finely ground espresso is needed for the correct extraction. Nowhere did I find this mentioned in the instructions, they simply state "ground" coffee which could cause confusion and bad results.

I love coffee and I love espresso. It's what I'm into now that I no longer make beer and drink beer. I only buy freshly roasted coffee beans. I grind them myself with a conical steel burr grinder. I've actually HAVE an opinion on which is better: conical steel vs. conical ceramic. That's where I am in life! I also love a variety of brewing methods: French press, stovetop percolator, stovetop espresso maker, and aero press are all fantastic to use. So I had to try this Portable Espresso Maker. Taking it apart and cleaning it for the first time I was highly impressed with the level of engineering that clearly went into this beautiful machine. Someone or a team of someones spent a lot of time and energy designing and engineering this unique brewing method. All I can say is a high level of craftsmanship went into this machine. So I had high expectations for it. I set my grinder to its finest setting. Upped the water temp in my kettle to 205 degrees and got ready to brew. The result, unfortunately, was less than appetizing. I've had stronger tea. Not good. Some reviewers have suggested that repeated trials will yield better results, so I will continue to try. However, for the price point on this item and the amount of work that went into producing it, I feel it should be more fool proof. I do not appreciate wasting perfectly good coffee experimenting with an expensive device that should work the first time, but I will persevere and report back if results improve. At this time, I cannot recommend it.

I used very finely ground coffee for this manual espresso machine. I was very disappointed that it came out not even stronger than the simple pouring hot water over method, let alone the thick aromatic dark liquid I was hoping for. Before I used actual coffee beans/powder, I ran water through this espresso maker. I noticed that, when pressing the water through, there were very small bubbles produced through the pressing. So that's how the espresso "foam" come from. However, with real coffee fine grounds and hot water, I didn't even get any foam from this espresso maker (as shown in the first and second pictures). I didn't want to misjudge this machine because the coffee beans I used was medium roast. So I used the same amount of hot water pouring over the same amount of coffee ground (measured with the little cup that was given), I actually got slightly thicker/darker coffee. Now I know, hand cranked pressure is no where close to hot steam produced by machines that usually cost several hundred dollars. It pains me to give bad rating to a fine looking product. But it fails to deliver and we do not want to pay $50+ to get something that could have been produced with simple filter paper.

As someone with limited space in the kitchen, I appreciate the option for something that takes such little room on the counter/cupboard. I also like that it is so travel friendly given the small size. I haven't used the pod option yet, but I've used it with ground coffee a few times. I have not been disappointed. It's super easy to clean too. You hand pump it, but it's very easy to see when you've completed the espresso since you can see in the clear portion when the drips stop.
