Description

Sleek, sharp and professional, our Gates Leather Executive Desk is an easy winner. It starts with a supple, padded genuine leather seat and armrests with a high quality leatherette match on the back of the chair. It is finished off with a polished aluminum base with 360 degree swivel and 5 easy rolling castor wheels. The seat itself is adjustable in a variety of ways including a standard gas lift seat height adjustment lever. The reclining function transitions from fully upright at 90 degrees and tilting all the way back to 120 degrees. You can also lock the reclining position so that it will only go back to a certain point and you dont have to worry about reclining farther back than is desired. There is also a tension knob that adjusts the resistance when reclining that you can make looser or tighter depending on how easily you want to be able to engage the tilting. The synchro mechanism reclines both the seat and backrest but at a 1:2 ratio that minimizes the recline of the seat in comparison to the backrest. This prevents the rocking chair effect and helps keep your feet on the ground while still increasing blood circulation and better spinal alignment. In addition, the waterfall seat edge design eliminates leg fatigue. The chair arrived in two shipments on two different days, which I believe was communicated by Zuri Furniture via email. The contents of each box were well packaged and protected. One of the boxes had external damage, but the contents were not damaged. I found the assembly to be very straight forward and the directions to be fairly clear and easy to follow. The bolts are pretty much idiot proof to prevent using them in the wrong locations. All of the components seemed to be of high quality and very well made. I personally think the chair is very attractive and it reminds me of sitting in a high quality leather car seat. I also found the chair to be very comfortable, especially when sitting in it for long periods. The chair has all of the adjustments needed to satisfy my requirements and I especially like the fact that I can lock the chair tilt in virtually any position. I'm extremely happy with my purchase and found the price to be in line with the quality of the product that I received. I could not rate support, as I didn't need any. Initially, I was very pleased with the chair's appearance and comfort. However, within a year, the recline mechanism started failing. I contacted Zuri's customer service and they replaced it. Now, another year later, the seams on the seat are tearing open. This isn't what one would expect from a leather chair. The description claims that the seat is "genuine leather" with a "leatherette" back. However the sides of the seat that take the constant flexing of the users weigh are not genuine leather. I once again contacted customer service who insist the chair was made as advertised. If you are looking for a chair that will last for many years, THIS IS NOT it. Look at the images from users who've had their chairs for a while, don't simply rely on initial reviews. A $150 faux leather chair will usually de-laminate. This material is so poor it simply tears open with only minimal use and an abundance of care. Absolute garbage! ... show more

Great feel to this chair. The back height is perfect for those looking to rest their head against it. That is something very hard to find. The leather and lumbar are perfect. It's not a super cushy, recliner-like chair. it closely matches a nice bucket seat in a car. The lowest height is too high to roll the arms under my desk. The wheels do not roll well and will need to be replaced with some rollerblade-type chair wheels. I'm also waiting on customer service to respond as the back of the chair and the seat is not square with each other as you can see from the picture. ... show more

I was looking for a classic style office chair, something warm and comfortable. I first bought a Serta from Tru innovations. It was completely damaged. Next a Lazy Boy Hyland, which seemed cheap, fake leather, wood dents, miss-aligned and lumbar support in middle of back, also Tru innovation (yuk). I did not go for some of the ergo chairs as I did not want the plastic mesh office look....I did not go for this one initially as some of the reviews made me nervous....Feet don't touch ground, not worth money and too firm of feel. I am 5'11 and feet hit the ground fine. The chair is firm, but like others have mentioned, more like a car seat feel, comfortable, but you are not sinking into inches of padding. Very happy with purchase, chair definitely worth money when comparing to other non-leather options ... show more

    • The chair I was looking for!

I have been through several of the $200-300 type chairs. They look great online, but when you get them you realize they have been made with poor quality materials. They start squeaking and degrading in just a month. I work from home and was frustrated with these chairs, so I decided to "go big" and look for an expensive chair. I found this one and am very happy with it. I have had it for about 2 months and so far it is holding up well. The assembly was just like what you would experience from other cheaper chairs. I could tell right away that the leather was legitimate and much higher quality. I would compare it to the quality of leather you would find in the seat of a car - thick and firm, but conforming. The ergonomics are great as well. I am 6'1" and 170lbs. It fits me pretty well. The arm rests are a little wide for me, but I'm a little on the small frame side so a bigger framed person would be perfect. I think even someone with a some extra weight would find this to be wide enough for them as well. The main issue I've had with other chairs is the padding on the arm rests flattens out too quickly. This chair must used closed cell foam as they seem to be holding up really well after a couple of months. I am hopeful this chair lasts a long time. ... show more
