This Espresso brewer is outstanding and rivals the more expensive models by other companies. It offers so many espresso recipes at the touch of an icon. It is easy to clean and brews excellent coffee delights. The loud sounding solenoids gave me some misgivings in the beginning but now I am comfortable with this entire unit. I believe the quality of construction to be very good, however, time will tell. I did purchase an extended warranty. It is manufactured by a minority owned company which I believe to be a good thing. If you love various coffee drinks custom made to your taste this is an espresso machine for you. UPDATED ONE MONTH LATER. I have owned the Espresso brewer now for about a month and have used it extensively. It is an outstanding brewer that I highly recommend if you love coffee. My advice is to clean the milk frothing unit every time you make one of the coffee drinks otherwise the tube or the actual frother has a tenacity to clog up. It is exceptionally easy to clean which is another plus. THIS IS A TWO MONTH UPDATE: I have been successfully using this espresso machine for exactly 2 months and still delighted with it. However, in these 2 month the coffee dustpan has collected about 3 ounces of ground coffee that seems to be discarded into the pan after every use. This is somewhat of a waste so I collect it and seal it in an airtight container to use later. Granted it won't be as fresh as I would like but it also won't be wasted. I still highly recommend this unit. CUSTOMER SERVICE UPDATE:: Don't rely on the Magia customer service. The plastic plug that covers the ground coffee chute broke quite easily and this company will not even answer my request for a new one. I finally went to Ace Hardware and purchased a metal cap that works better than the original.

First impressions are awesome. The thing is beautiful on my new countertop. Touch screen is cool and works well. I haven't yet dived into special programming, so I'll hold comment on any special operations. As sent, it makes a decent cup. I do have some down side comments, though the coolness of the machine makes them tolerable. All down side concerns are in machine design. The water tank is way too small. It needs to be refilled quite often. This may say more about my somewhat unhealthy consumption of coffee and less about the tank. I'm currently designing a float valve so I can hook up a water line and never have to refill myself. The bean hopper is also small, though easily accessible to add more without a problem. The main issue in the hopper is that it lays pretty flat and does not feed the beans into the grinder very efficiently. I find myself having to own the top and push the beans around in order to make it feed. My final concern, and probably most concerning, is the way it wastes dry grounds inside the side door. I'm not sure if it's malfunctioning or is really bad design. When I empty the spent puck container (which is a really cool feature, by the way) I find several shots worth of dry, unused ground coffee in the compartment. Enough that it requires brushing out before the puck container can be replaced in its slot. Not only is it messy, it's sure its spending a lot on coffee to be simply be swept away. All in all, so far, I like this machine a lot. It's functional and pretty. I've been using a high end single group brewer and am enjoying the simplicity of a super auto. I call it an infant because it asks for so much on a regular basis (water, beans, empty waste), but it's quiet and makes a good cup. Editing to say that I've had a problem with a water leak from the machine. I contacted Zulay about it. At first I'd say obtaining service was first rate.... well slightly less than, perhaps. I was instructed to return the machine on my dime and they'd fix it. Communication was decent during the repair process. It seemed like a quick repair, just a few days and they said it'll ship back to me. This was a couple months ago. They still have not returned the machine and have ghosted me on email. I'm not sure if I'll get my machine back without traveling to Florida and knocking on their door myself. So I'll not be doing any future business with this company and wish I hadn't in the first place. There are other ways to make coffee. They've stolen my $1000 machine. I advise finding a different really nice machine for yourself.

We are impressed with our new Machine. It takes a little time to get your choices right, but I like it better than my old Jura Z9 machine because I can choose any coffee, and during the process I can add or reduce my choice. The coffee is very strong but adjustable and I like the milk and foam .Yes the turning on goes a little slow but I did not check in my book if that can be changed. I like that the machine cleans after every use. We definitely drink more coffee than before because it tastes so good. I also clean out the coffee maker every night so that everything is ready for the morning, also make sure enough beans are in the container and water is filled. So a little bit work but fun. And when I walk into my house I can smell the coffee which I missed, the other machine did not have that capacity.

Update: I prefer dark, oily roasts and I feel that this machine's copious self cleaning just doesn't do a good enough job in the brewer assembly. For my experience, the fatal flaw is the pressure valve at the top of the Calet brew head where the brewed liquid leaves the assembly to go to the cup. Even following regular cleaning and descaling procedures, once that valve has accumulated enough oil and particle buildup, the machine errors saying "tube plugged" then eventually "brewer missing". The valve cannot be disassembled nor will Zulay provide a replacement for it or the brewer assembly. I spent $200 to ship it to Zulay and $150 for them to service it. The valve was not replaced and I feel that i did not receive any value for the money or turn-around. This was my first super automatic and I was very happy with it initially. But now the brew head is now jammed, the machine is not working and just not worth another $350 service or the over $1000 cost to own. So it will be my last super automatic. Initial review: Fantastic machine. Excellent and responsive support. Easy to use, customize and and clean. Makes great coffee and drinks. I roast my own coffee and the Magia grinds it and makes a perfect long espresso for me every morning at a touch on the screen. Excellent, responsive and customer focused support. I accidentally broke the 'don't stick your finger in the grinder' hood and they promptly shipped a replacement. I am no pro, but I am a coffee snob, and I am very happy with this machine.

Zulay Magia Super Automatic Coffee Espresso Machine **Update 9/20/2023** I've been using the machine now for about 2 months and wanted to provide an update. First, you can edit your custom drink after you set it, so I wanted to correct that. The constant auto cleaning is still annoying. There is a lot of coffee waste. In 2 months, I was able to fill up a standard size ziplock of unused coffee grinds. This is caused by several reason. 1. Coffee grinds get in and all over the brewing unit inside. Guessing when it's grinding, there isn't a good seal between grinder and brewing unit. So make sure you pull it out about once a week to shake it out. 2. There is a small tray below brewing unit that catches grounds from some part of the process. This doesn't do a good job at catching the grounds as it builds up behind the tray. 3. The unit will randomly stop making coffee right after it grinds the beans and presses the coffee. No errors, no reason, you hear it go through it's process of pressing the coffee, then it just stops and dumps the grounds in to the coffee ground box. This has happened several times in the last two months. **Original review** It works great and is simple to use. The espresso taste just as good when I manually make it on a standard espresso machine. It's menu has multiple coffee types which are all one press and it's all handled for you. From grinding the beans, pressing the coffee, and adding the milk/foam all in one unit. There is also another menu to make more premium drinks like White Chocolate mocha. It will list the ingredients you need and the amounts and after you add the extra ingredients it will start making the drink. There are multiple profiles you can choose to setup up different custom coffee setups per user. You can't rename the profiles, they are just user1, user2, etc... You also can't customize a coffee type more than once. So if you wanted to created different sizes of a drink, you have to use different user profiles. You also cannot edit your custom drink after you set it. You have to delete and recreate it. Cleaning the machine is pretty simple and straight forward. It does an automatic flush of the funnel and frother unit on startup and shutdown. However, I feel that's too much and just waste the limited water in your bin. I get running the cleaning on shutdown, but I don't see the need for it to also run on startup. While there is a cleaning setting, there is no setting that lets you turn off automatic cleaning. It also alerts you when to clean the internal components, like empty the coffee grind bin. Everything about the unit is easy to clean and maintain. The water tank is placed on the back of the unit. This will cause problems for those with counters that are not deep. The unit itself already will take up most of the counter depth because its so big. So you may have to keep pulling your unit out just to get the water tank off and out to fill up. This will be frequent unless you only drink the 2oz /4oz espresso drinks only. But even then, with all the cleaning it does, you'll still find yourself filling the tank frequently. Personally, I think they should have just made it wider than deeper. A side water tank would have held more volume and would have been more convenient to refill. The quality of the build of the machine is nothing to be excited about. It's made of all plastic and kind of makes it look cheap. Internal components are mostly plastic as well. However, it's all pretty sturdy. For roughly $800 out the door, it's just lacking. It's like they've done just enough but didn't polish it out. I would peg this more in the $500 line just due to its automation as I'm sure there is complexity there. But outside of that, it's disappointing for having paid this much.

To start out, I was exited to receive it. Item was packaged well. It was easy to unpack and a few steps was to setup the machine. This coffee machine is absolutely unique, there isn't anything else out there. I did my research. When you turn it on, put water in, it does a self cleaning. Then you have the selections for many different type of coffees. Latte, cappuccino, regular, espresso, and on. You can have different users and have different types of coffee on each user. Each coffee is adjustable in the setting, such as temperature of the water, milk, how much coffee do you want in volume, how strong you want to coffee to be and so on. It's fantastic. It grinds up the coffee beans, sucks up the milk from a cup you place next to it to make the latte, it steams the coffee. It makes the layers like the real cappuccino as it shows in the pictures. Fully automated. It will tell you when you have to empty the ground coffee trash bin. When you turn it off, it does an automatic cleaning. You'll put some clean water in a cup for the milk straw, which it will be sucked up and cleaned inside out. You won't ever have to clean the inside. It does it automatically. Not to mention, this machine looks high tech, elegant and it will definitely bring the attention to your guests and everyone in the house. This coffee maker is smart and had a lot of attention to every detail put in. I hardly ever leave a review, but this, I highly recommend this product even it is high priced.

Since I struggled with individual customization for a while (till I figured it out) - I thought I should do a step by step on how to customize coffee for each user in the family. You can follow it through with pictures added to review. 1) On the main screen - touch the "User" icon on the top left (Picture 1) 2) You will see a 10 user screen (BTW - You can edit names of each user by selecting that user and touching the name "user1" on the top center) - Here you touch "+" sign at the bottom left to pick the coffee style you want to customize for this user (Picture 2) 3) Select the coffee you want to customize - using "Latte" as an example here (Picture 3) 4) On return - you will see "Latte" added to "user1" (Picture 4) 5) Now is when it gets strange - when you touch "Latte" icon - it will start making "Latte" with default recipe (have a cup under drip ready before touching "Latte" icon!!) 6) WHILE it is brewing Latte for you - it will display the "Brewing" screen - bottom left of that screen you see three bars (Picture 5) - touch on it and the customization screen pops up (Picture 6) 7) Adjust your recipe to what you desire and touch "return". Now your recipe is stored in your user profile for FUTURE brews when brewed from your user profile. The strange/weird thing is that it starts brewing coffee before you can customize - so you are technically customizing FUTURE brews... Now some pros/cons: Pros: 1) The machine looks beautiful 2) A large number of recipes 3) Automatic functionality is super impressive 4) Customization ability is amazing - one can adjust coffee, temperature, time (assume that translates to volume) of hot milk, time for foam, and liquid volume for coffee. 5) User profile storing is even more impressive for a machine in this price-range (it was frustrating while I was trying to figure it out though!) 6) Quality of coffee produced is excellent (See picture 7) - foam quality is good, temperature is good (and can be adjusted). 7) Support is VERY responsive to email contact. Couple of my questions were answered in matter of hours. (Edit: sorry - pictures seem to be in some random order on posting) Cons: 1) Screen stays on as long as machine is plugged into the wall (it does go into a "screensaver" display) - no switch to turn it off. I worry about screen burn-in and also light pollution at night. Power usage is less than 10 watts while machine is off but screen is on. (I put it on a smart plug and I turn it off after making coffee via Alexa/Google). 2) Water container is in the back and needs to be lifted "up" - which means this unit can NOT be under a cabinet. You would need approximately the height of the machine clear above it to take out and refill container. 3) The dispensed coffee puck container is on the side - so again - you need to keep the right side of the machine clear. Only drip tray can be removed from the front. My DeLonghi machine prior to this had everything removable from the front. 4) Everything is through the screen - that could end up being a single point of failure - not quite like mostly mechanical coffee maker I had before. 5) In my case - dispensed pucks are non-existent (it looks like a slushy liquid) - See picture 8 - I am going to reach out to them to find out if this is something that will be fixed over time or if I need to change some settings (will update review when resolved). Taking 1 point away for above items. For now - I am happy with it (24 hours so far). Only unknown is how robust it is and how long it would last. I will come back and update review periodically. Warranty is for 1 year - I am thinking I will get extended warranty from Asurion on Amazon (can buy it within 30 days after purchase).

The plus side is that the machine looks really nice and works well for a while. The downside is that it is pricey, requires a lot of maintenance, and wastes a lot of coffee beans. I can deal with the price and the maintenance, but the waste of coffee beans really is bothersome. The grinder settings need to be adjusted manually by using a little hand dial, and if you don’t set it to the correct grinding settings, it grinds the beans and dumps the grounds inside the machine. I repeatedly find myself needing to open the machine and cleaning out the wasted coffee grounds on a weekly basis, sometimes even on a daily basis. When opening the side door, the wasted grounds pour out onto the table top and floor, requiring the whole counter to be wiped down and floor vacuumed. It is not just a little bit of coffee wasted, it is a significant amount. I am going through coffee fast and it does not seem cost effective. Additionally, the machine will not function if there are too many wasted grounds stuck inside. This clean up wastes my time and the coffee. Getting a single cup of coffee then turns into a big task and a big mess, and makes me not want to use the machine. The entire machine is fully digital, except the grinder settings. The manufacturer should change the machine to have pre-programmed and fully automatic grinder settings that the machine self-adjusts. I contacted support for this product and they sent me a video on adjusting the settings. I watched the video, adjusted the settings, and it was fixed for a few weeks, then the problem started all over again. The grind settings are not intuitive, and you need to figure out the settings through trial and error, which wastes coffee and wastes time. You also have the regular maintenance, such as dumping the tray after the self-cleaning, dumping the properly used coffee pucks, and cleaning the tube for the milk frother. When this happens, you find yourself needing 15 minutes or more to prep and clean up, just for a single cup of coffee. Dealing with these issues first thing in the morning, and before my morning cup, are annoying to say the least.
