  • Worked Great for Me (some tips on maybe why)
I ordered 2 sets of these clamps to use in reattaching a glass convertible rear window that fell completely off the canvas top. The top was otherwise in good shape. I took the car to one of the few shops in the area that deals with convertible tops and they said it had to be replaced at a price of $2,500 (!). I called another shop and they gave me a price of $2,300. That price tag led me to researching replacing the top on my own. In the course of that internet search I came across several you tube videos showing people reattaching rear windows rather than replacing the top. I saw a number of different approaches using various materials. The one that appealed to me the most used suction cup clamps like these and 3M Window-Weld as the adhesive. Watching several videos was very helpful before taking on the project. I'd link to the ones I liked the most but Amazon doesn't like links off their site in reviews. However, it shouldn't be hard to find some on your own. Re these clamps: I liked the price compared to competing products. Most of the review were positive, which encouraged me. I read some of the negative reviews. They were mainly about the suction cups not holding. Given that the majority of the reviews were positive, I decided to go ahead and order these. They worked great. I actually had the suction cups on the glass for 2 days before I could get a friend to come over and tighten the clamps while I held the window in place. All the clamps held beautifully. I wonder if the problem some people had was related to their method. Here's what I did that may have made the difference. I washed the suction cups in very soapy water and degreaser to remove any oily residue that may have been left from the manufacturing process. Then I washed the window with a couple of passes of window cleaner, rinsed it well, then wiped it down with isopropyl alcohol to further clean it. I applied the suction cups to the window without the lever arms attached, using a bit of water under the cup and pressing down on the cup itself rather than the threaded bolt arising from its center. I don't know if that approach is what made the difference for me or if I just got lucky with my 12 clamps. In any case, if you get these clamps it won't hurt to take this approach. I hope it helps. Bottom line: my top is now repaired and working well for less that $100 in materials vs $2500 ... show more

  • Okay for the price!
They did the job and the price wasn’t bad but suction wasn’t the best and the suction cups ended up melting with the heat inside the car and sticking to the window while we waited for the glue to dry.

  • I’m They work . Priced right for the amount of times I will have to use.
The suction cups worked great. Easy to use, quality was fine and the process was done in no time.I’m giving four stars because one did keep losing suction. I will return the set and the company is sending me a new set. Hey stuff happens. For the price they are well worth it.

  • Works great
These six suction cup things worked Great. They did exactly what they said they would do. They held my back glass window tight to the cloth convertable top allowing the urethane glue to seal tightly between them. My whole window was coming loose so I wished I had purchased two sets of six to have made the job done in full in two days, as you must let urithane to dry completely before moving on to the next section to be glue down. ... show more

  • Don’t try to glue a loose rear window in a convertible top without these!
They worked as designed. I have a loose rear window on the convertible top on my Mustang. I used them to clamp the top against the glass while the glue dried. They stuck well and applied plenty of clamping power. I also used them to move the glass in position before I clamped them down. I left them on for two days and they all held fast. Definitely buy these if you need to glue rear window glass. They will save a lot of headaches. ... show more
