I recently purchased the much more expensive, (2x as much) buffer/polisher from the big brand. I had to send it back, it failed in several categories for me. Read that review. This on the other hand, I cannot find a fault. It has a trigger which allows much more precision control. The speed dial clicks on each number, removeable cord, cord is not 50' long (slight exaggeration), comes with 2" backing plate (alot more options for sandpaper etc in 2" flavors), RPM sensing actually works, I installed a screw in handle on the left side (allows much more stable flatform), they include 2 extra motor brushes, many many more features but last and not least...LIFETIME warranty! That's a whole lot of win win for $150. If you're in the market for a smaller buffer/polisher/sander/DA, give this a shot before delving into the deep end spending 2x as much and missing out all this tool has to offer. ps: My other buffer is a Makita PO5000CX2 (bought here), I know a great tool when I use one. 5-Stars-Highly recommended!

I have a cheap 5-inch polisher that works OK. This polisher made me realize how cheap the other one is. This thing was great to do a 2-step compound and polish on my car. You could get away with using it on the whole car because you can get the different shapes, small stuff, and still do a hood pretty easily. I used it with the 3-inch backing plate for most of the car. Then I switched to the 2-inch plate for my wheels, the A/B/C pillars, etc. It has plenty of power, isn't too loud, and the swing (movement of the pad in all directions) makes polishing quick and easy. The cord is long, and the detachable feature is nice for storage. I'm a DIY guy and take good care of my vehicles. I don't use tools like this on a daily or monthly basis, so I'm unable to comment on that type of usage.

Listen, when I first started learning polishing this was the first machine I owned. Now that I do it professionally it is the still the best option. This machine is very forgiving and it also packs a punch on the defects on your paint. The G9 is also perfect as well, whether you’re a beginner or an expert. This is the ONLY product of Griot’s Garage I own and the only one I will own. This is the PERFECT tool for anybody to put their toes in the water of the paint protection world.

I bought this after returning a mini cordless polisher from a low cost brand. This has way more power then that one did, is much quieter and smoother and the build quality is excellent. You still have to be careful not to stall it like any DA, but one you learn how to finesse it against body lines, it works great.

It worked well. This was my first time owning/using a DA polisher. It seems to have plenty of power. I tried the Griots and Rupes pads. The Rupes pad design is better for contoured surfaces. I used the Sonax EX 04-06 polish which is user friendly for a beginner.
