My life began in a display case, all polished chrome and potential. For a while, things were good. But my owner fed me a diet of cheap, generic fuel from the gas station counter. I tried not to complain, but that stuff was like muddy water for a race car. I’d sputter and cough, my flame a sickly, flickering yellow. My jet, the very heart of me, started to feel clogged and weak. I thought my best days were over, that I was destined for a dusty drawer. Then, this little black can arrived. It said "Zippo" on it-a name I recognized as family. My owner purged my tank of the old, gritty fuel, and then came the hiss of the new stuff. It felt different. Cleaner. When he sparked my flint, it wasn't a cough; it was a roar. A clean, sharp, and perfectly blue jet of flame erupted from me, steady and confident.
