  • What's Old is New.
Format: Hardcover
Grant Morrison brings a new take on the man of steel. A new universe where only the bare basics of the character are needed to understand allows him to craft his story of a punk kid evolving into the man of Tommorow.

  • One of Superman’s best runs ever
One of the best ongoing Superman runs written by one of the best Superman writers is finally collected in one omnibus. This run features every bit of Superman and his lore, from Krypton, to the Phantom Zone, to Smallville, to Metropolis. We get to a Superman who incorporates and embodies every publication “era” of the character. We see Superman start out tackling crime bosses, corrupt politicians, the military, and the first super villains like his Golden Age social crusader incarnation. We see the Silver Age super genius and cosmic explorer who defends Earth from alien threats. We see the introspective Bronze Age mediator who ponders his place in the world and worries about the impact he’s having on humanity. We see the dedicated journalist and relatable everyman of the Post Crisis era. In short we see a Superman who embodies every “version” of Superman that’s been published. But we also get to see Superman having fun! This Superman is constantly on the move, constantly using his powers in cool new ways, and inspiring the people of Metropolis. This run delivers plenty of action and excitement, and who better to pose as the ultimate challenge for the ultimate hero than Morrison’s take on the Devil? From ghostly space mad scientist mummies, to artificial intelligences from outer space, to an army of Superman’s most dangerous foes, to the most insidious evil Superman of all, this run has threats in spades. And the art is fantastic! Morales’ faces may be a little weird at times but he can sell the sheer physicality of Clark’s powers like no one else. When he rips his torture chair from the concrete floor and flings it you will FEEL that. Kubert and Gene Ha deliver one of the most gorgeous renditions of Krypton imaginable, ambitious science fiction baked in. There’s a ton of all time great art on display here from Brad Walker, Cully Hamner, and a host of others. When it first debuted there was complaining that this was not the SuperJesus people had been expecting. That take is correct, this is not Space Jesus, this is Superman, every bit as powerful and inspirational and human as Superman should be. If you’ve ever wanted to dive into his world, ever wondered if he could be interesting or relatable or relevant, this is the run for you. Read it! ... show more

  • The New 52 Superman in Omnibus Format (2 versions!)
With there being two versions of this Omnibus being available; I decided not to worry about the misprint version I received. And as others' whom gotten the same (you can go online and read the missing dialog or have the original [Superman - Action Comics, Vol. 1 Superman and the Men of Steel] book to read what's missing). What's enjoyable about this complete Omnibus is getting the [Post-Flashpoint] Prime-Earth's early years from Krypton to the Legion of Super-Heroes all here; sadly all this has been forgotten - later retconned into what's commonly occurring at DC (now referred as Earth-52 in the wake of Doomsday Clock). If any one really wants to buy this oversized book, there is the availability of both versions out there; just deciding too chance it, and hope for the best. The biggest thing as a collector in learning; is that these books quickly go out of stock, and out of print. Enjoy and decide for yourself.... ... show more

  • Buy only if its cheap.
Format: Hardcover
This omni, as a collection of stories, is exactly as the rating would suggest. Really mediocre, except for the art.
