  • A must-have bedroom essential!
Color: Black Size: Full Style: Tool-free Assembly
This is the first time I got this 14" full sized bed platform for my new full sized mattress because I wanted one without needing to purchase a box spring. I can say that after a couple days I am very pleased and satisfied with what I got. This bed platform was very easy to set up. I did it all by myself with no help. No wasting time trying to put the legs and slats together because this comes in practically two pieces. All I had to do was to follow the instructions and put the screws in for the legs and join the two metal platforms together. It is very stable on my carpet floor and is very sturdy now that I have my mattress and comforter on top. I'm only 5'0" and about 120 lbs so I don't see this platform possibly bending or collapsing from my regular use. Even if I use the bed with a heavier person on there I think it is still very stable. I have not heard any squeaking as I was rolling around and moving on my bed. I also like that they included some nonslip adhesive strips as it helped keep my bed skirt in place while I placed my new mattress on top. I didn't get a headboard so I'm not sure how easy it is to install any headboard outside of the brand. I am currently renting a room in a house and storage space has been pretty limited to me. I was able to fit a lot of things underneath the smartbase, including my shoes, styrofoam cooler, some clothes, bags, and clean containers and food jars. Pretty much any storage container under 13" in height can fit underneath the base. The diagonal bars that hold the legs in place and legs in the middle of the base are in the way, so if you have any wide and tall storage containers then you have to be a little careful. If you need to fit standard storage containers, I would recommend getting the taller smartbase such as the 16" or 18". For someone of my height with a 14" base plus 8” mattress and a 2" mattress topper, I did not have trouble getting on and off of my bed. My feet dangle about 2-3" off the ground now. I could imagine that any smartbase greater than 14" would give my bed a lot of height. Overall I am very happy that I got this base. You can probably tell that the black cat in one of my pictures is very pleased, too. I would argue that even if you don't need much bed storage space, this is a great bedroom essential to have because it is easy for one person to put together, dismantle, and move and you can easily add height to your bed without sacrificing its stability and sturdiness. And with a good bed skirt and comforter, you'll forget that you even have a metal bed platform! ... show more

I love this bed frame! The tool-free assembly was incredibly quick and hassle-free. It feels very solid, doesn't squeak at all, and offers great under-bed storage space. Excellent quality for the price!

  • Sturdy, and Perfect
Color: Black Size: Full Style: Tool-free Assembly
I purchased the full size bed frame set to go with my LUCID by LinenSpa 12" Memory Foam Triple-Layer Plush Viscoelastic Mattress. It has been absolutely perfect. First off it was very simple to put together. I did it all by myself and the directions were pretty sell explanatory. Only problem I had setting it up was attaching the frame to the headboard. I got the bracket attachment attached to the bed frame easy but was unable to tighten the but onto the bolt that attaches the frame to the headboard past a certain pint cause it didn't have the right shape or a screwdriver hole for me to hold it still. I will have my grandpa look at it when he isn't busy though. H e was a carpenter and I am sure he will be able to tighten it somehow. I also had a little trouble getting the bed skirt to stay still while I place the mattress on it. I plan on buying a set of sheet straps (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002DN6COU/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_5?ie=UTF8&smid=AHKISRTWHF3A0) to hold it in place better. It looks great though and is very sturdy unlike my old bed frame that was designed for a box frame and regular mattress. I love the height of it, perfect for people who store things under their bed. I actually have several storage bins under there and have filled up every inch. I used to require stilts that made my bed wobble to do this. Now I have that space allowed by the bed frame itself. I have had my mattress on the frame for about 2 days now and the combination is heavenly. It has just the right amount of support and I love the whole set dearly. I do kinda wish I could keep my mattress from sliding when I get on and off but the sliding is minimal and I think that fixing the bed skirt in place will help with that issue. Also even though the bed frame is the same height as my old frame with stilts the overall height is a lot less because you don't use or need a box frame with a memory foam mattress. Overall I think this is the best deal for this type of bed. I saw several other sellers for this design of bed frame on Amazon but after shipping they cost only about 10 or 15 dollars less and didn't come with a bed sheet or brackets. Since the headboard brackets alone cost $20 I consider this a way better deal if you have a headboard and or footboard. Plus it is nice to have a bed skirt to hid all the things that are stored under a bed this high. ... show more

  • Sturdy, high quality, easy to set up, and great price!!
Color: Black Size: Queen Style: Tool-free Assembly
We have purchased 3 of these and we really like them. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because the mattress will slip off this base very easily if you don't put a rubber rug protector between the mattress and this base. We bought this item SLEEP TIGHT King Size Non-Slip Mattress Grip Pad - Rug Pad which makes it so the mattress does not slip and we're very happy. For the price and the quality of this base, it was well worth the extra $20 for each bed. This base was really easy to unpack and setup. It is sturdy without being heavy. The placement of the legs make it very stable and also allow for easy under-bed storage of even large totes or boxes. We gained storage space in our bedrooms by choosing this setup. My husband had each base out of the box and setup in about 10 minutes. There is very little actual assembly required and it is really easy to figure out. With the king size base it was helpful to have a second pair of hands, but you can do it by yourself. This is the 14 inch model meaning you get 14 inches of clearance between the base and the floor. It's a great amount of space. We put these in our teenage children's rooms. In our room we ordered the 18 inch base and we are blown away by what we can store under there. Seriously, it's like gaining a whole closet in the master bedroom. The only down side to that is that it's really difficult to find a bed skirt for that height. Overall I highly recommend this base. I have not found anything close to this quality at this price. It made buying new beds very affordable for us. Our whole family got new beds and we're thrilled. We love the Zinus memory foam mattresses. We bought 3 and have been sleeping like a rock on them for six months! Unbelievable quality for the price! ... show more

  • Great frame!
Color: Black Size: Full Style: Tool-free Assembly
Four years ago during my time in college, I finally decided to step my bed game up and make the switch from a twin to a full, to a memory foam mattress no less. I had never really shopped around for mattresses so I naturally didn’t know the first thing about what is required (spoiler: traditionally a box spring), but I did know I needed a frame, and where else to turn to but the ‘zon I coincidentally bought a memory foam mattress under the same zinus brand, a 10-inch full size (while you may likely be safe with another full size mattress, it should of course be common sense that items under the same brand will be compatible with each other) and stumbled upon this frame and was immediately drawn to the note mentioning that no box spring was required, which was awesome as it was one less thing I had to concern myself with. It arrived in a large thin, square package and did take a few minutes to properly set up. The great news is that no extra tools are necessary! The directions were also really easy to follow as well. I eventually had it set up and it served its purpose well. You do get some extra room below for storage if desired, and while I may have hit my foot one time or another on one of the legs, it’s a major bonus that you don’t have any stray metal bars sticking out; the corners are all curved likely to avoid that from potentially happening. My 10-incher served me beautifully, but due to transit issues, I eventually had to leave it behind when I moved states, and when I placed an order for a new mattress, I neglected to note that it was a 6-inch instead of the 10 I was used to. I did, however, re-order this frame, and it was just as easy as before to assemble. It also does fold, for the record; it forms into a triangle at best, though you may need to unscrew a bolt or two if needed. I have had no issues with the frame itself, but I would caution you on checking how thick your mattress is. If it’s below 10 inches, particularly I would say an 8 or below, you may feel the bars against your body. However, this is coming from someone with a memory foam mattress, so this likely would be a mattress issue rather than a frame issue. If you have a regular spring one, I imagine you should be fine. Overall though, no real complaints! ... show more

  • Excellent
Color: Black Size: Full Style: Tool-free Assembly
First, a little note. When people review stuff online, it's usually because they totally loved the product or hated it. Unfortunately, that doesn't account for STUPIDITY, so reviews should be treated with caution. Personally, my favorite reviews are usually 3 stars. They're usually pretty honest. Here's how I use online reviews: a) I carefully read the full item description, features, and specs from the manufacturer, and look at photos of the product to check for consistency. b) I read five to ten of the 5-star reviews to see if what the reviewers enjoyed matched the item description. c) I read every 1-star review and use a rubric that scores on: i) the reviewer's intelligence level (not even highest education received and I feel like I'm very generous on spelling and grammar mistakes, as I think an average fourth grader is still competent enough to rate most products), ii) the reviewer's experience level with products of that nature (for example, if I'm buying carabiners and the reviewer says they know nothing about climbing, then I know I can't trust the review), iii) whether the reviewer is reviewing the product or the seller (yes, there is a different place to rate the seller, as well as the packaging and shipping speed, but some people don't seem to understand that, see above for stupidity), iv) whether the reviewer read the item description, v) and finally, what they were actually disappointed about. This bed is exactly as described. I bought it to replace a platform bed with wooden slats that I didn't feel confident would stand up again after another move and my career field leads to lots of relocations. Field technicians in biology, ecology, forestry, etc. have adopted the phrase "bio gypsy" and for good reason. I read multiple reviews for this product and loads of other beds like it before I decided to take the leap. And leap I did! 1) It is extremely easy to setup. I took about 20 minutes, diligently checking that I'd securely tightened all the foot-supporting bars' wing nuts: first when the two halves were upside down, then when they were right-side up and finally after I'd connected them. There were instructions for assembly, but only a very very dumb monkey would need them. The support bars for the legs are very obvious and if they aren't, try to imagine any reason for the wing nuts, to which the support bars attach, to exist on such a minimal design. Also, part of those 20 minutes were also spent making sure the thing would disassemble as easily as it setup. It passed that test. 2) I've had the bed for less than a week, but I've been testing it pretty thoroughly (though not in the "active couple" way quite yet, that will be next week (; ) by jumping up and down and rolling and bouncing. I've tried to make it squeak. I weigh ~140 lbs (which isn't particularly heavy, I know, which is why I've been aggressively jumping to try to get a squeak) and I can't get a peep from this thing. There are no pieces of metal to rub together to make any god-awful noise. There are some reviews that mentioned both creaking AND squeaking. I may be wrong, but I consider those to be very different. Creaking would occur if there was some part of the frame rubbing another and squeaking is when a joint or contact point moves audibly. There is absolutely no creaking here. Oh, but wait, I should mention that I took about two minutes to adhere a small piece of cardboard (cut from the box) to each of the twelve feet to keep the rubber feet from squeaking on the hardwood floor. I would've done that anyway to protect the floor. Also, I placed some to act as bumpers on the parts of the frame that could contact the walls during grown-up activities. A little bit of foresight should go a long way there, I think. If the bed starts creaking after a few months, you should check that all the nuts are still tight. It is normal for those things to loosen up. 3) This frame is not an eyesore. If it doesn't look like a fancy bed for your master bedroom, then buy a bedskirt. It does look metal. And it has lots of under-the-bed storage space. That matches the item description and the photos. 4) There are no brackets for head- or footboard attachment. Those are sold separately. 5) My mattress doesn't slide around. I'm not sure why that's an issue for other people, and there aren't any rails or listen lips to keep it in place, but it's still not an issue. 6) This product eliminates the need for a box spring. Some reviewers have said they feel like the princess and the pea because the mattress is so high when they use this frame plus a box spring. Also, there is no need to buy pieces of particle board to add extra support for the mattress (unless it is a foam mattress with absolutely no support for itself). The thin metal wires are strong enough for the job. 7) I expect the frame to be compatible with some wooden frames (probably if made by the same company), so I'm not surprised that some people couldn't get this to work out. Check the dimensions of the wooden frame you want to place this inside of and check the product specs before ordering. ... show more

  • Super strong, yet lightweight, easily assembled/dissembled for moving. No motion transfer.
Color: Black Size: California King Style: Tool-free Assembly
Have been sleeping on this for 7 months, using a California King box spring and coil mattress. Really pleased. Was quick & easy to assemble. No shifting of boxspring, no sagging, no squeaks. The split frame secures together eadily & very well, no gap or pulling apart. Easy to store things below. No rough edges or stray wires catching on boxspring or bedskirt/linens. We're very tall, large framed people, almost 400lbs combined. Mattress + bedding + boxspring is ~160 lbs., + 80 lb dog who occassionally leaps onto the bed = ~600 lbs. Yet, this frame never sags, groans or shifts, ever. Unlike previous beds & frames of all types, husband can toss & turn, get in/out of bed, etc and the movement doesn't transfer to my side, so I can actually get a good night's uninterrupted sleep!!! We bought the accessory brackets to attach our new headboard, which work okay, but as the headboard is tall & curves back at the top (sleigh style) vs being flush against the wall, we had to put something behind it to keep it from tilting and being loose, since the brackets are a single attachment point in the bottom quarter of the headboard. This would be an issue w/any frame & tall headboard w/out a place for a 2nd attachment point at least 10" higher, so not faulting them for it. That's why most beds in stores w/tall headboards attach in multiple vertical spots on the frame, with side boards, for support. My only real problem - easily fixed - is that my toes find the support legs in the middle of each edge every time I make the bed or get up in the dark. Easily fixed by slipping a piece of black foam pipe insulation from hardware store over the legs to pad them. Is perfect diameter, 1 piece can be cut to cover all the legs, and matches the frame color. If not using a headboard, can also use this over top edge of frame to prevent scuffs on your wall. If not using a box spring/foundation, but you want to use a bedskirt try this: Either use long strips of fabric, long window valances, or a regular bedskirt with the flat middle cut out. Put sticky-back velcro onto the frame. Add some matching velcro onto the back of the fabric, and line up w/velcro on the frame. Very easy to swap out, remove for washing, etc w/out trying to pull over the frame, where it will catch/snag, like a traditional bedskirt. Also lets you thread thru & hide cords for heated mattress pads & electric blankets. ... show more
