Old school "box spring" users relax, this is a great option. I had a steel framed with just a mattress which helped to convert my thinking. But, then a bed that required a foundation was desired. The first instinct was to drag one home from a local shop. So glad I didn't! Thiscame right to my door and has proved to be of better quality, lighter, easy to assemble (and will be if we have to move it as it is not one big structure that is a fixed form), love that you can remove cover to wash it when needed. It is a modern mattress foundation, not a "box spring". There are no springs in this item. For a king size, which I purchased, it's better than a two-piece box spring because it is level from side to side with no split frames running down the middle. This Zinus mattress foundation was relatively easy to assemble, it took me about an hour and I was in no hurry. It is aluminum with wood slats and when assembled properly is very sturdy. It is lightweight enough that one person can maneuver it (manufacturer recommends two people) but be sure you have adequate room and a plan to assemble and install it on your bedframe. I can’t believe how easy this was to put together. I did it all by myself with no issues (I’m a petite woman so this doesn’t take a lot of strength to build). The package arrived un-damaged and everything inside was in perfect condition except for one metal bar that was bent. I simply took a pair of pliers and bent it back into place and everything was fine from then on. I believe I just got a defective one or else it was a returned item that got sent to me. I’m still giving it 5 stars based on how nice this item is and the ease of putting it together. Unfortunately, when I put it on my daughter’s bed, I realized it was the wrong height box spring. I received the 7.5 inch one and actually needed the 4 inch one. Amazon was super helpful with the return process and I now plan on ordering the 4 inch for both of the twin beds in my daughter’s bedroom. This box frame is the bomb! So easy to put together, light enough to maneuver and the wood slats with the Velcro are genius! I couldn't be happier. Also, it comes with a zippered cover. Which will help keep it clean, however if you're into more of the industrial look you can skip the cover. I got a 6 inch very firm foam mattress and covered both the mattress and box frame with a 15- 24 inch extra deep pocket sheet. Arrived with the box a little beat up, but everything was perfect inside. Assembled it by myself in about 20 minutes. Paid attention to the comments regarding being careful with the zipper for the cover and had no problem putting it on the frame. The boards come as two sets connected by Velcro, making installation a snap. No noise from this sturdy foundation. After reading a lot of reviews, I was a little concerned about the assembly, but once I lined up everything, it was really easy to put everything together. The only part little tricky was putting the cover on, but once you get it underneath, it is not that hard. Love the product.

This is a great bottom base for my futon. it was very easy to put together. Directions easy and it is very well constructed. I can put together Ikea furniture so maybe I am just a Masters level kind of furniture putter together gal, but I was very pleased with the materials and how it was designed!
