I've had expensive bed frames and inexpensive bed frames. I'd categorize this one as inexpensive. I would also categorize it as incredibly well made and easy to put together. A lot of care went into the design of this bed to ensure that one person of limited engineering intelligence could put it together (about 45 minutes). Additionally, the bed is machined with care. All the parts fit and the bolts thread well in the wood. Also, they provide spare parts and mark them that way....and a high quality ratchet (as well as the traditional Allen wrench). The bed itself is incredibly stable. I just moved to an upstairs apartment and i was afraid my old rickety bed frame was going to aggravate my downstairs neighbor (if you get my meaning). That's not going to be a problem with this bed. It is solid! Light weight, but tight as a drum! I don't usually right reviews, however, if you're on the fence about this bed, get off the fence and purchase it. ... show more

This Zinus platform bed is everything I hoped for in a quality bed. The assembly went very well. I had it completed in no time by myself, a 65 year old woman! The ratchet allen wrench provided was very thoughtful and easy to use overall. (I didn’t see it with the parts right away) The detail work on the upholstery is neat and clean with no puckering. The fabric is a tight weave in variegated colors of gray giving a rich depth to the coloring and is smooth to the touch. The detailing on the headboard is beautiful. The panel is stitched and tufted with the buttons firmly attached. One wish would be: a bit taller so I could see all the detail which is behind the pillows. The frame seems very sturdy and fit together seamlessly. It was very handy having the frame panel screws in place so all I had to do was loosen them with the allen wrench and slip in the appropriate piece. The Velcro attachment of the slats makes their placement very easy. The plastic legs are robust and screwed into place with long sturdy screws. I’m loving it so far. The bed is HEAVY. Nice quality and shipped very compact. EVERYTHING IS IN THE HEADBOARD. I saw some reviews stating there is nothing else, just a headboard, but whoever designed this thing, it's well done. So all the pieces fit inside the headboard. Took about a half hour to set it up. But there is a ratchet that is provided to put in the allen key screws and it made the install a breeze. I told my wife I was going to leave a review just because of the little ratchet. It made it real easy. Start to finish we had our new bed set up in about 1 hour. Only been sleeping on it one night, but I did the jump test (I love to jump into bed) [5'11", 230lbs) and the thing didn't even move. Here's to hoping it lasts a while. And after my wife saw like one review on here about someone receiving one of the Upholstered headboards and having it come with bedbugs, we are bed bug free. I'd like that's a pretty irrational fear, but I could be wrong. Nice bed, great price, easy to assemble, and THEY PROVIDED A RATCHET FOR EASY INSTALL. Oh yeah, the headboard is a decent height. About 5" less than our old IKEA bed. We think it looks just fine. Not going to get a royal bed for $225. If you want the headboard to cover the entire wall, this isn't the one for you. After debating obsessively over whether to spend $1k or $300 - I gave up. I couldn't figure out what to get so my mattress remained on the floor like a college kid... But my sister had bought a Zinus (different style) and loved it. I saw it in person the other day and was sold. For under $300? Huh! I figured it was worth a try with all the good reviews and having seen one in person. My gosh! I ordered a king size. It arrived in perfect timing with Prime shipping. I thought I would put it together (alone) while husband is out of town. I opened up the box and yes: HEAVY. I opened it all up in the hallway where my husband had left the box and carried it upstairs by myself, piece by piece, and so that was manageable. I loved the packaging BTW! It's adorable. It is currently in pieces in my bedroom and I plan to put together tonight. I jumped ahead to a 5 star because the shipping/packaging was stellar and (most important?) it is so PRETTY! Even prettier in person. Actually looks much nicer than I expected a $300 bed to look like! I don't think I would assume that price if I were to walk in and see this bed frame somewhere. The material looks quite thick and has a nice texture, I am now even hopeful it can hold up against my adorable furry monster-kitty with sharp little claws (also why I opted for a $300 bed instead of 1k!). This bed looks much sturdier than I expected to be honest. I will update my review with pics/comments once I get it all assembled and sleep on it. Update: Whoa. What a dream! I (solo lady) assembled in around 40 minutes. It was so easy!! And I kept muttering about the clever engineering of how they designed this bed. It was so easy, totally simple for one person to put together. Apparently my mattress is much softer than I even realized because I can feel the difference between this platform bed and my old box springs. It felt somehow softer and more even. Heavenly! Totally happy with this purchase. I will update again if I have any issues with it moving forward. August 2019 Update: It is holding up perfectly, even against sharp cat claws. It survived a move and reassembling. Just bought another Zinus model for our new guest bedroom because this brand is awesome. 2024: wooden supports have a little sag now, middle beam is noticeable through mattress. We're not heavy people, so probably just worn out. The frame is otherwise solid still. We're looking to replace for something with better supports. ... show more

I absolutely love this bed! It was delivered to my home in one box. After opening the box I saw the headboard and nothing else. When I turned it over all of the pieces were contained in the zipper section of the headboard. Everything was nice and neat and in perfect condition. The instructions, although no real written instructions, just photos, were very easy to follow. I assembled it by myself in 45 minutes. A ratchet was included for assembly and that made it so much easier than using a plain Allen wrench. Extra supplies were included in a plainly labeled package, but I did not need any extras. Super simple to assemble, very sturdy and I love the look! Would definitely recommend and I’m very pleased with the quality and the price. I did buy the Zinus 12” mattress and it is a perfect fit. ... show more

This was easy and intuitive to assemble. Stable and strong and looks quite nice. The only thing I notice is the stitching on the headboard isn't even all the way across. Also The headboard is quite short. My mattress is 14" so it goes high up on the headboard. Once I make the bed I'm certain the pillows will be close to the top of the headboard. I really like the fabric on the bed. It looks nice and I think if necessary it should be easy to clean. ... show more

Ok, ok, ok... first, I am so stoked. Let me chill and tell you why. 1st- arrived one day early in perfect packaging. 2nd- neatly packaged. 3rd- all parts accounted for, in pristine condition and all aligned. They even included an extra parts package. 3rd- instructions were drawings (so I freaked for a moment because I like sentences) but the drawings were clear and accurate and I am sure an 8 year old could figure them out. 4th- I did it all by my semi disabled self. Hell Yeah I did! This baby is quality parts and snapped together like a hand and glove. I mean, a breeze people. 5th... My big ole butt is not gonna break this, I think I could have rigorous sex on this bed and it not creek, crack, moan, groan or break! Yeah, my mattress is 80 pounds, and my partner and I combined are 450. They do say on the Zinus site that queen sized frames have about a 500 pound capacity, but it is a "suggestion" and I think they are low balling it. Check back with me in 6 months when I update this. Dude seriously... worth the money. Buy it. Just do it. ... show more
