This foundation cost a little more than others available but it is worth every penny! The use of bamboo is absolutely brilliant! Very light and yet very sturdy. Fit and finish is very good. Very easy to assemble. All the holes lined up very well and the hardware is top quality. The use of alignment pins and velcro on the slats was also brilliant. Unlike other less expensive frames, this one has plenty of slats with only 4" gap between them. The cover is also very good quality with elastic corners that hold it tightly over the frame, This one gets 5+ star.

This was very easy to put together and is very sturdy. The 4-inch height was perfect. The only small issue was trying to get the cover on the box spring. We ordered a king size and it seems like it's too small. But we eventually got it on there. So far, it's been working great and doing the job we wanted it to do!

I searched and researched all the solid wood twin box frames out there. Most had the same negative reviews of cheap, splitting wood or misaligned holes etc. So I searched for bamboo box frames. Zinius is the only one I found. I ordered it from amazon, as Home Depot did not have the 8 inch twin in stock. This bed frame could not be more simple to put together, even if instructions did not come with it. It is literally two finished end pieces, two finished side rails, slats and hardware. It came with both an allen wrench and socket allen wrench tool. Those reviews complaining about the frame gaps at the bottom and wood not lining up have put the end pieces on upside down. Mine had large yellow arrows pointing which ends go up, but the screw holes are clearly not centered and they go in a specific direction... The frame was assembled in 10 minutes, taking my time. I cut off the pieces of velcro between each slat so I could position them where I wanted. The frame cover is a nice quilted fabric edge with breathable center fabric, and fits easily over frame. That being said, I would not recommend this for a large adult or anyone weighing over 115-120 lbs. It is ideal for a toddler or small child, provided they do not jump up and down on the bed. The solid bamboo frame is constructed with 1x2's, which are essentially furring strips and not structural wood. The wood slats are less than 3 inches wide and approximately 3/8 of an inch thick and easily broken by direct weight. My bed frame is designed to have a box frame sit inside without slats, but it has two end slats and a center that prevent a bed frame from sitting directly on inside rails. Given how thin the wood on this frame is, I left slats in along side the bed frame slats to even out the weight distribution on the bottom of the box frame. I also cut 1x4's to fit the top and placed them over each supporting cross member. The 1x4's sit about 1/16 of an inch higher than the zinius slats which is not ideal, but works. I didn't bother putting velcro on the ones I added. The box frame also comes with a legally binding agreement regarding lawsuits and arbitration oddly. This product will work for my intended purpose. It is bamboo and looks nice, not that you will ever see it once assembled. I would recommend it for a small human or child that does not jump on their bed.

We got this Zinus 8" frame to support the layered alternative to a conventional mattress we got for our 1940s twin bed. Our layered alternative is a new 4" traditional (all cotton) futon topped with two pieces of foam (1" high density, 2" memory) and a thick cotton mattress pad. The mattress ended up higher off the floor than we expected (a short person's feet sort of dangle). Even with frequent turning, if this futon is used regularly it'll compact some, so the 8" will work alright. But if we add another bed like this, we will probably get the lower profile 4" frame. Delivered in about a week, the frame was well packaged and not as heavy as we feared. A middle aged woman carried it in easily. It came with instructional diagrams (no text, so it's universal, language wise) – not that we needed them. The assembly steps are obvious. It went together quickly and easily. The frame's wood is straight, clean, and smooth with no obvious flaws. Presumably the original plan was for buyers to attach the four support pieces to each other using the included screws. Instead, two of the corners came pre-connected with hinges. Though this made assembly a wee bit faster, we would have preferred the screw method because the (low end, sort of flimsy feeling) hinges are on the loose side. Truthfully, this is probably irrelevant because once in place, the frame isn't going anywhere. One note of caution though: make sure to support the hinged pieces along their full length so that one (probably the short side) doesn't flop down and stress the hinge. Otherwise the hinge could twist or break and you'll be drilling your own hole and reaching for one of the extra screws that is included. The slats, for the twin size anyway, come in two sections. The slats in each section are connected together with a flexible fabric tape (if I'm remembering right). Once the sections are unfurled, small pieces of Velcro on the bottom attach to corresponding Velcro pieces on the top the frame itself (the sides pieces that are now connected). The slat sections went into place easily (with only minor effort required to match up the Velcro) and seem perfectly sturdy. Instead of installing the cover, we opted to "dress" the frame with a spare fitted sheet made of microfleece for now. We thought the pressed (not woven) fabric/papery material that forms the cover's sides (similar to what most reusable, biodegradable shopping bags are made of) might prove too tempting for our cats' claws. Now we wonder not only if the wood itself might be even MORE tempting, but also if the cats may decide to climb up through the frame's openings and perch tree-limb style on the bed's original slats, which we left in place (probably unnecessarily, as it turns out). This likely won't hurt the cats OR the frame, but it could present a problem on vet visiting day! So, the assembled box frame is sturdy and fits perfectly where the bed's slats normally go. Guests have reported sleeping comfortably on it, and test naps have been successful. Even though this product had ZERO Amazon feedback when we ordered it, we chose to go with the Zinus version instead of the other – heavily reviewed – manufacturer's version because it cost a little less and looked like it was made at LEAST as well. And we like supporting new vendors if we can. We highly recommend this to anyone who, like us, has opted out of expensive, often unsatisfactory mattress/box spring sets.

I like this as it’s not as high as other box spring designs, thus it makes it easier to get in and out of bed. Very good quality construction and easy to assemble. Quiet as well- it makes no sound when using the mattress.

Truly easy to assemble. I am 80 years old and put it together in less than 30 minutes and was able to put it in place on the bed. Nifty little ratchet allen wrench tool included made the task easier. Quiet with no squeaky or creaky sounds after mattress put on top.
