  • Frustration factor five
I purchased this as a replacement for a much more expensive GE Z-wave switch that is no longer manufactured. The switch is a bit thinner than the previous switch which is good, because the GE switch consumed a lot of space inside the gang box. There are a couple of things I really don't like about this switch. First, since it does not have a neutral (or a ground for that matter), there is current leak. It's enough to cause the outdoor LED lights to glow even when the switch is off. Second, it came with zero printed instructions. Confused the hell out of the electrician who was installing it. The frustrating part came later, when I was attempting to link the switch to my SmartThings hub. As this is a Zigbee swiitch it should be pretty easy to join the network, right? Well, if you happen to know the secret, it is. However, the Martin Jerry website is practically useless when it comes to using their products outside of the SmartLife app (which, I couldn't get it to join). The easiest way to get this switch to join your SmartThings hub is to: 1. Press the reset button at the bottom of the switch for a count of 15. 2. Log into your SmartThings App on your phone. 3. Go into your devices and add device. 4. Scan for nearby devices. 5. Press and hold the power button (bottom part of the paddle) for about 5 seconds, until the reddish colored light starts blinking. 6. Within a few seconds, the new switch should show up in your device list as Zigbee Switch. I won't be buying any more of these switches because of the missing neutral (and ground). I thought I could get away without it, but because I use LED fixtures, the leaked current is annoying. ... show more

  • Easily control fans and lights with no neutral wire
I've been looking for a simple way to add a Smart switch which allows me to control my ceiling fans and lights from a switch with no neutral wire. Even though there are many on the market they are typically rather expensive and my plan is to convert all of the switches in the house without spending hundreds of dollars to do so. This switch meets my needs it doesn't require a neutral wire it's comparatively inexpensive, it uses the zigbee protocol so it was fairly simple to pair with my smartthings V3 hub. Once paired I was able to add it to motion based and time based automations that allow me to turn on ceiling fans and turn them off when the room is unoccupied. Since this switch is hardwired it will also acts as a repeater further enhancing the zigbee mesh in my home. I removed one star because the build quality is not up to par with other major brand switchs. Hopefully these will last. ... show more

  • Works perfectly
I got two of these switches to control two LED ceiling lights, and they work perfectly. They respond immediately every time, and there's no buzzing or flickering. My Zigbee controller is a SkyConnect on Home Assistant. Two things to be aware of - After pairing the switches, I did need to restart them before they could be controlled. Also, before installing, make sure that the hot wire runs to your old switch and not the neutral. That was an issue on one of my lights and I had to rewire it. ... show more

  • Working great with my Bathroom Fan and SmartThings v3 Hub
I just installed this Zigbee wall switch today. To use with a bathroom fan. I have a Sengled Temperature/Humidity Zigbee sensor in the bathroom. With the SmartThings hub I am able to have the fan turn on/off automatically, based on the humidity level. It's working great, so far. But I've only had it in use for a couple of hours. If something changes, I will edit the review. ... show more

  • First one worked for 4 days. 2nd one not at all.
Stuck without a neutral so I decided to try one of these. We use WiFi for just about everything, so Zigbee was new and getting it paired up with my supported Amazon Zigbee device was the most challenging part of the install. (I had to move my Echo pretty close to get it to find the switch). After I got it paired up, it was smooth sailing and it worked wonderfully for four days - easy to schedule with Alexa. (Just in case anyone is trying to do what I did and just connect via a Zigbee enabled Echo device - you just need to find the switch in the Alexa app; you don't use the MartinJerry app.) Anyway, four days after I installed it, it stopped working. It flips the circuit breaker immediately. Take it out, no problem. Re-install it, and it immediately flips the circuit breaker. I'm hoping it's just a bad unit and have started the return process. We'll see if the new one holds up longer than four days. Fingers crossed. **UPDATED REVIEW: I requested a return/replacement and the seller contacted me to offer a refund, which I accepted. Then they wrote back to ask me to update my review (before initiating any refund). I hadn't installed the 2nd unit yet so had no idea if it worked. It doesn't. It was dead on install and trips my circuit breaker immediately. Now the replacement is going back and I'll be getting a refund from Amazon. I would suggest staying away. ... show more

  • Two of the Four Switches I Purchased Do Not Work
I’ve installed hundreds of smart switches at this point. These are of the simplest I’ve installed. However, I purchased 4 of them, and two of the four do not work at all. They will not switch on the lights they are connected to. I’ve validated that this is an issue with the switch as opposed to an issue with the light or the wiring as I swapped other switches out for them and they work just fine. Don’t buy! Will be returning them. ... show more
