  • Easy to install, but watch a Youtube video on the wiring, as the schematic is a bit opaque
Needed to replace a mechanical Tork timer switch - which had problems almost from the moment it was installed - and figured I may as well go digital to avoid the aggravation of dealing with the switch-tripper things. The switch/wiring is located inside the garage, so won't be exposed to the elements - I mention this because the timer is in a plastic housing that seems fine for indoor use, but I don't know that it would stand up to more than a few New England winters. Installation and wiring this is pretty easy. There's a decent amount of space in the enclosure to accommodate the wires without things feeling cramped or the result looking like a rat's nest (though the location of the ground lug is a bit ungainly). The wiring schematics that come with the switch are accurate but also kind of useless - I'm not a novice with electrical repairs, but I stared at them for a few minutes before realizing I'd need to use some jumpers. A digression on that.. you *will* need to use jumpers, so ensure that you have spare wire and wire nuts handy before you start the project. Fortunately, if you google "Tork DTU40 wiring", the NSI company has put up some short, straightforward videos on Youtube that illustrates the wiring set-up from start to finish. Any homeowner capable of using a screwdriver and a pair of needle-nosed pliers can install this in about 20 minutes, including the time spent watching the aforementioned video... A note on something counter-intuitive - when I wired this up and turned the power to the circuit back on, the LED indicating power from the supply came on, but the LED indicating power to the Load did not, and trying to turn the switch on via the manual override button also didn't work. I figured I'd wired it up screwy, and was getting ready to do the whole thing over from scratch, but no... it turns out I just had to set the time. Once I'd done that, everything worked fine... I didn't see anything about that in the wiring instructions or on the videos, and it caught me off guard. Speaking of, programming the clock/timer is straightforward. If I had any complaint, it's that the switch offers a slight excess of options - I only need it to turn a pool pump on and off at the same time every day - but that's a minor gripe and too many features - while aggravating - is preferable to too few. The UI is pretty intuitive and if you can set the clock on a coffee machine and set it to make you a pot of coffee in the morning, you are well equipped to get this switch up and running. ... show more

  • Easy and multiple voltage ready
So I purchased this to install on an ERV so I could set the timer to turn on during normal operating hours and shut off shortly after the business closes. It gave me the option to run it as I wanted and even have it off during the weekends. Not difficult to program or wire. Basic electrical knowledge is plenty. ... show more

  • Slightly larger box than the mechanical timer it replaced
Easy to program and has a lot of timing options. It requires a separate power wire for each of the two relays and the clock power. Nice to have a pair of SPST contacts which can be separately used as normally open or normally closed. The case is about 1/2” all around bigger than the old mechanical timer casing that we replaced. It also had a tab on top that we had to remove to fit the space we had. But it’s a good rugged plastic case and so far it’s working well. ... show more

  • BAD EXPERIENCE!!!
I thought I bought a BRAND NEW piece BUT when I got it you could see a lot of damage to the box and I did not get the manual or instructions with it. It had openings on the plastic frame already which means it was already opened and tried to be used. I went ahead and installed it & it does look that it is working. BUT it is NOT GOOD BUSINESS PRACTICES to do this thing. IT WAS USED and I paid FULL PRICE. Luckily it seems to be working OK, BUT I am keeping a close eye on it to be sure. As soon as something happens to it I will be returning it for BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES. SORRY for all of the above but it is the truth. ... show more

  • Perfectly replaces manual timers.
Bought to replace old manual timers. Christmas display gets bigger every year and syncing multiple timers is nearly impossible. Now I have them within seconds of each other, and I can do multiple programs on each one. Also, there's a setting they don't talk about that will vary when they turn on/off for while your on vacation to make it look like someone is home. Other reviews said installation was hard. We had no trouble. ... show more

  • Faulty solder connection
The media could not be loaded. I purchased this this timer in February of 2021. Unfortunately I didn't have time to install this unit until well past the return time frame. I ended up replacing it with a different timer. Today I decided to troubleshoot this defective timer and find out why the output relay would not pull in and apply voltage to the load terminal. I could hear a smaller relay engage within the timer white controller. I removed the controller cover and found solder the completely missed the connection to the output circuit. Ten seconds of soldering fixed the problem and the timer now works. Tork your quality control leaves much to be desired. This is what happens when you farm out manufacturing to China. See attached pictures and video for details. Sad back in the day Tork was known for reliable products. Now their products don't work right out of the box when new. ... show more

  • Was great replacement for analog timer
Good product. Used as replacement for another brand timer that had to replace 1 year after installation. This one was fairly easy to install although it didn't work the first time I connected everything. It comes with instructions( I did read through them) and everything looked good. Ended up going to Youtube for instructions and saw that I needed a jumper wire from the incoming terminal to the light terminal in order to turn on the lights. Programs easily and works great. ... show more
