  • No Issues. Works perfectly No Issues. Works perfectly
Style: Dimmer + Motion (No Neutral Wire Required)
I use this product with the Google Home eco system. Was looking for a switch that did not need a negative wire and no additional piece to plug into a near by outlet. This met the those requirements. Almost didn't purchase after reading reviews stating product randomly activates/deactivates and intermittentoperation. I have 2 of them now and planning to purchase more. Never had issue with intermittent operation. Works every time. Light did turn off "randomly"... noted the switch was located where there is low activity. Looked in the cync app and found a set of options for motion control. Turned it off and never had that issue again. One switch controls six lights on one circuit a d another 3 lights on one circuit. Works great. Put the adapter that comes with the switch on only one light. No issues. Love the way they look, ease of installation, and google home automation. ... show more

  • Too Exensive and Proprietary!
Style: Dimmer + Motion (No Neutral Wire Required)
Goal was to replace a working motion sensor switch with one that promised dimming and wifi connectivity. The first "red flag" was a light socket adapter (for wifi compatibility, and not noted in product description). The light I have uses candleabra bulbs. The adapter is for standard base. I'm experienced with wiring, and install was straight-forward, but it was a pain to establish a wifi/ Cync-app connection and I can't use the "adapter". Several trys/resets and finally saw it in Alexa and the Cync app. The wifi and app show it, but when setting up the app, it says it isn't recognised! And then the functions didn't work at the switch. Press the switch "ON" and it lights for ten seconds and goes out, even when moving in front of it. Press it "OFF" and it goes out and then cycles ON and OFF throughout the day. It doesn't work consistantly in manual operation... The product and software app are too proprietary! Amazon Alexa app will set a routine and allow manual switching ON and OFF, but no dimming or sensor. The former sensor switch is going back in.... This was an expensive MISTAKE! ... show more

  • Great features, little room to spare for installation
Style: Dimmer + Motion (No Neutral Wire Required)
Absolutely love this switch for the alexa integration. Works great except when I have to use a generator. Not a show stopper, but the generator makes the light pulse intensely. Quite unsettling. The motion detection is great too, but had to disable it because it can't see me behind my monitors and the durations are too short for me. Installation is TIGHT as the unit leaves little room behind. If you can use a deep work box for installation, that'd be good. ... show more

  • Really good solution to smarten up old homes
Style: Dimmer + Motion (No Neutral Wire Required)
I live in a house built in the late 50s with very few updates done in the electrical systems. Wiring is hot, return, and grounded (MOSTLY). Just shameful. When we bought it, we took a few months to gut the kitchen and run a few electrical updates on the main floor before we moved in. But we didn't even consider running a neutral wire throughout, so lighting updates were smart at the bulb, not the switch. With our current renovation of the bathroom, the lighting had to be smart from the switch, since demand for light, night light effects, etc. requires an immediate response from a switch, but is great when smart, as well. Most units with smart features, motion sensing, and dimming capabilities, normally require a neutral wire. This switch does not. Compatible with Alexa, Google, etc, it also has great controls for motion sensing -- like, how sensitive do you want it to be, and whether it will turn on when there's already adequate daylight. Works like a charm! Currently (during testing) I have a simple lamp fixture wired in, using the socket adapter to an old dumb, undimmable LED. It's working flawlessly. I'll update once I get the full lighting system installed (5 dimmable LED puck lights, low draw). App and Alexa setup were quick and easy, though, yes, you will have to set up YET ANOTHER third-party account to link to Alexa through GE's Cync app. Not my favorite, and I really wish there was one app to connect allllllllll the smart home stuff. So far this works very well. ... show more

  • Not what I expected from GE
Style: Dimmer + Motion (No Neutral Wire Required)
Easy to install the hardware Awesome that it works with no neutral was perfect for granny's older house. BUT was unable to do the initial setup with 2 different Android phones. It would not asign the WIFI username and password to the switch and would tell me to retry. After wasting 4 hours trying with 2 different switches in 2 different locations using a motorola and a samsung phone I tried the setup using the I-Phone app and it setup flawlessly. Ok 👌 got it setup and configured, then updated firmware. Checked ping to both switches (connectivity test for networked devices) and had only 1 dropped packet for 5 minutes on the farthest switch. Not bad for a wireless connection to a IOT device three walls away and stuffed into a fourth Wall at a right angle to the router. I Logged back in with both of the Android phones the app says bad connection to switch kept going in and out was able to kinda turn it on/off adjust brightness in the brief connection periods. Alexa setup was breeze make sure you use C by GE skill there are other GE skills available. The switchs work fine from alexa app and from I-Phone app no intermittent connections but neither Android phone app showed a stable enough connection to the switches to function properly; which is fine I don't use the craptastic apps for IOT devices anyways. BTW using the Iphone app was not a perfect experience either. To login to the app after using a Android phone you may have to uninstall the app and reinstall as we had to do 3 times. Keeping the switches as they function fine with alexa app and with alexa voice commands. Grams and Gramps are happy they don't have to walk half way through a dark room to turn on the two lights in their house where the light switches were installed in odd locations. I tried to do tec support chat .......non functional. Only had a 1 day shot to do this for Granny. I am a professional I&E automation technician 30+ years experience and a simple light switch kicked me in the chops hard .......but I came out mostly victorious! Installed 1 switch on multiple dimmable led lights with the adapter (wasn't needed) and incandesend specialty bulbs for other switch adapter was not needed. Had no flickering issues in either install. If you enjoy a challenge go ahead and buy this overpriced product for speciality installs in homes that are older and don't have a neutral wire present. ... show more

  • Make Sure You Know what you are buying. This wont work with SmartThings, Hue or IFTTT
Style: Dimmer + Motion (No Neutral Wire Required)
I won't call myself a pro home automator but, I have been doing this for a few years now. I bought this to replace my (Non-Smart) motion switches. I was excited about the idea this has a ambient light sensor. For me that was big!!! I wanted to add this in the Kitchen and I don't always need the light as I get good sunlight during the day, so the ambient light sensor would be very nice. I ignored my better judgment when buying a WI-FI device. I personally don't trust WI-FI devices, but I thought, if I can use the ambient light sensor, and the motion to trigger other lights it would be worth it. WRONG! Ambient sensor only allows or 3 setting. No Light, Some Light and More Light. Like really? You have to install and setup a new account with C BY GE. Not a problem, but I have tons of apps and accounts, and it would have been nice to not have to create another one. But such is life. After installing the new app, it only works with Google Home, and Alex. And that's where the problem starts. If you have other devices, say Hue, Smartthings or whatever. This switch can't be used inline with those devices. I had this switch in the kitchen, I also have 4 other lights (managed by SmartThings). I would have like to have this turn on the other lights based on my motions. But it wont talk to SmartThings so, that won't work. It only turns the 1 light on that it is connected to. This was also very sensitive to power load. I had a Trackbar with 6 50-Watt Equivalent MR16 lights. The lights flash when the power is turned on. They provide this little adaptor that should fix this, but it only fits A19 type bulbs. So I went out to buy a new light fixture (Why not, I have gone this far with it). Well this time with 3 A19 LED Bulbs, the light still flashed. By adding the adaptor to one light, that issue was fixed, but by this time, I was really just done with this thing. I would not buy this at this time. I would like to see it provide more compatibility with other systems. Not ready for prime time if you ask me. Maybe if you just want to add a light, or one switch and you don't care about whole home automation. THis might be great. But not when you have more devices. I am returning them both, because they are just not ready for the smart home. ... show more

  • Best Option for Three Wire Installation
Style: Dimmer + Motion (No Neutral Wire Required)
Nice looking, clear instructions and easy to install. Best of three wire options I could find available (i.e., no neutral wire required). For some reason in my relatively new home the electrician made one switch three wire! Make sure to use LED bulbs with 15W minimum load so you can avoid using the provided adapter. Nothing wrong with the adapter per se, but in a visible environment with other bulbs it will stick out, perhaps, in certain cases, not even let the bulb fit inside the glass fixture any more. The CbyGE app is decent, but looking forward to Cync coming out. One nice feature is being able to key turning on and turning off based on sunset or sunrise, as the case may be. You can even 'offset' by an amount of time that you want so, say, lights come on 10 minutes before sunset or go off 5 minutes after sunrise, you can fade up or down over a period of time you determine, and so forth. I have the motion sensor version. That works well but I had to turn the motion activation off. It is coded by firmware that limits the time to 5 minutes. 5 minutes is not nearly long enough for our use (switch is in a hallway, not where the people are in the relevant room). I hope they will upgrade the firmware so you can alter how long the lights stay on. Would be perfect if they would fix that feature. ... show more

  • Beware the bulb adapter! Beware the bulb adapter!
Style: Dimmer + Motion (No Neutral Wire Required)
This review is for the single pole dimmer+motion sensor (no neutral wire). It's pretty...but not so smart! Installation was straight forward but it just doesn't work! The motion sensor is not accurate and WiFi connection drops/disconnects often. Be aware that the actual switch uses Bluetooth Mesh (as noted in the app). The WiFi connection appears to be only for voice integration and app control. This is is the MOST IMPORTANT part of this review...if you read the documentation, there's an included adapter that screws onto one of the bulbs, it's needed in most installations. The adapter is about half the length of a normal LED bulb and will effectively DOUBLE the length of ONE (yes, just one) bulb in your fixture (I've included photos of the adapter). It looks ridiculous and didn't even fit into my fixed ceiling fixture...a typical globe style light with glass cover. I installed and set it up anyway only to find that it worked for about 20 minutes before the connected bulbs started to flash then the switch indicator turned red and the lights remained uncontrollable in the on position. Even a factory reset of the switch didn't correct that behavior. I wasted about an hour on trying to resolve It, then just removed the switch and boxed it back up for return to Amazon. Save yourself some trouble and skip this item. Just trust the reviews and look for something better. Wish I'd done that also. ... show more
