  • This thing is terrible in many ways
Got this thing in the mail earlier this week The bar was much skinnier than I thought. Too skinny for my hands. Upon getting it out of the box the end links slid out of the manhandle with simply holding it. Then turning it vertically the very tiny spring (about the diameter of a ball point pen spring) was too weak to retract the extending connecting rods back into the bar. It looks like a cheap piece of pipe with two bars connected by a spring that does not work. The connecting rods were loosely screwed into an eye connector and I had to try to tighten it before installing it. Then there was the clamp that was too skinny and cheap and did not grasp my mower arm completely, I tightened it as much as I could and when I tried to extend my steering bar for turning, the clamp did not hold and slipped on the grip of my mower. The eye hole for the connection to the clamp pin is some type of swivel hole that is hard to move with movement of the arm and there is no way to keep debris from getting in it. The pin that atop the clamp slides into the eye hole has to be screwed into the clamp and there is no way to tighten it other than getting a pair of vice grips and screwing it in. There was about a half inch of threads exposed, as the pin seems to be a just a threaded round stud. There is nothing to securely keep the bar on the pin, so I think that may be an issue with it simply becoming disconnected with normal use. On the bar where the spring is supposed to be has both ends open to the weather and I expect it will slowly accumulate dirt and debris and make it even more likely not to retract. The spring is really cheap and looks like it will break quickly. Okay when I used it and tried to do a real turn, the slider stud attached to the spring came all of the way out of the handle bar and I was stuck having to stop the mower and take that thing off. The spring is almost broken in two and will not pull the slider back into the bar. My assessment. This is a real piece of junk. I am giving a 1 star rating only because there is nothing lower than that to register ... show more

  • Needs improvement
The idea of the product is great idea. Once the clamps are on the screw rods are too short and the main bar keeps coming off. No possible way to lock it in place. The ends of the steering rod are not secured and they keep popping out. There is a small spring that is supposed to keep the end connected and will not holdup. Just need to change a few things and could be better. The foam is very cheap and will not last. Needs improvement ... show more
