I sprained my ankle a month ago. Was in a lot of pain. The doc gave me a boot which I used for about a week. I found this on Amazon and ordered it because the boot was starting to hurt. Once I received the brace I was able to wear it with my tennis shoes. And walk a bit. After a week I was able to play softball. No running of course. I’ve been trying to heal my sprained ankle for months now. This brace has helped me so much in the process. It does not fit in most of my shoes which is unfortunate but it’s a small price to pay for a durable stable brace.

After taking a nasty fall I needed a brace asap. I sprained my ankle to the worst degree and it has been incredibly effective in stabilising my ankle and keeping it from moving. I can still move my foot up and down so I can drive when I need to, but the injuries to the sides are kept in place. Using with a compression stocking and a cane has been nothing short of a life saver to keep me going. A brace from the doctors office would've run me $100+ and when I showed him that I was getting this one, he said it was the best option in the lower price range ... show more

I avoided walking for a few weeks to give some injuries a chance to heal, and noticed that it made me weaker. I really need to get moving again, without worrying about reinjury. This lace-up brace with ankle wraps is essential. Time consuming, but essential. A doctor of sports Medicine recommended a lace-up ankle brace with wraps and all, so I can wear different types of shoes and keep going. I picked this one from Amazon, and I am very happy with it. It is comfortable on bare skin or over a thin sock, fits inside my shoes and my boots, and restricts painful and damaging movement in my ankle. I had an injured tendon and it appears that my foot supinates and the ankle is really unsteady; both the foot and the ankle become painful. This brace relieves the pain by minimizing supination (landing on the side of my foot!) so I can keep walking and get things done. My foot and ankle can function, but don’t get hot and painful. This is the ankle stabilization I need. All of the similar brands of ankle brace are intimidating to put on, and none of them provide really good directions for the novice, but at least this does come with a step-by-step guide so you can look at the pictures while you panic. Take a deep breath, and don’t panic. 1. Careful which hole you put your toes through (not through the heel cup hole!). 2. There is a learning curve as to just how tight or loose the lacings need to be. Loosen them all and tighten them again as you move up to the top. This customizes the fit to your needs. 3. Then use the lower Velcro straps on the ankle to go crosswise across the top of the foot, underneath, and up the other side. First one, then the other. (Think of how you would bandage your ankle with a roll of stretch support wrap.) 4. Finally, there are Velcro straps around just the ankle. They secure the upright ends of the cross-straps. (I hope I have not further confused you — but these are directions I tell myself each time I put this brace on.) All these points are adjustable for comfort and stability. I don’t want to give any ankle brace 5 stars because they are such a royal pain to put on, but I give this a solid four stars. Highly recommend. ... show more
