Recently purchased the Zen Bidet Z-500 for my 90 year old mother. My mother is starting to lose control of things a bit and recently started wearing diapers, but I was very worried about how well she would follow through on the clean up required. Plus there is now more time spent in the bathroom using a lot of wipes -- a bidet seemed like a practical answer to the problem. She's 90 and never used one before so I was kind of worried that was too nouveau or a little much for her to accept. Thankfully she realized the benefits and adapted to a new routine pretty quickly. The packaging is professionally done and organized, all parts were in the box, instructions were clear. I will say that you probably need to know something about plumbing to install this item (or any other bidet for that matter) and every house and setup is different.. Still, what they provided was helpful to the average person to complete setup or get a professional to do it. It came with a few plumbing parts, a standard toilet line for a cold water connection and a hot water line that basically resembled the polyurethane line you might see run for an ice maker. All the parts pretty much address most home bathrooms, it's pretty well thought out, but you may end up buying a part of two at your home improvement store to match things at your house or install to your liking. I think we've all heard bad stories about ice maker lines leaking so I bought a long length stainless steel braided line instead of using the provided polyurethane tubing. I also needed to buy a T connector for my setup as my pipe size was different. The company will actually give you a different adapter if you call them, but since I was already buying the upgraded hot water line at the store I wasn't going to wait for another part in the mail. The instructions suggest that you don't need to run hot water to the bidet if you don't want to, but I think that it is a HUGE difference maker, especially if you are letting it run for a minute or two. I can't imagine how this would feel in the winter without it. I ended up cutting into my hot water pipes in the basement rather than tapping into the nearby sink line. I didn't want to run anything along the wall and I didn't want to drill multiple holes in and out of the bathroom. I used a SharkBite connector with a built in valve (they are pretty easy to install and very reliable), then drilled a hole behind the spot where the cold water line comes up from the floor to the toilet and connected it all up. The installation to the unit is very easy, a little plumber's tape, a wrench, you're set. The great thing is that there are no batteries or power sources to drive the unit, it is all based on water pressure alone. All the controls on the unit work very well. It has solid construction and feels firm. The hot and cold adjustment works as expected -- it was easy to find a warm water sweet spot. The nozzle cleaner works as advertised too, simple. The control for the Rear and Front spray is very powerful, you could almost say that the dial goes from 1 to 20. Where 1 is light spray and 20 is a hard spray. For most people you can turn the dial to 5 or 6 and be really content with the action. 20 is almost like sandblasting -- this unit can deliver a lot of water pressure. You can adjust both the Front and Rear spray very easily, I'm still adjusting the Front to get it just right. A few minutes of use and you'll quickly get used to how it operates. The toilet seat now sits a little bit higher as the bidet is secured easily by the seat bolts. Some water may spray out the opening between bowl and seat as a result, depending on the pressure you use. I think this would happen with any of these bidet devices I've reviewed. I bought simple rubber weather stripping with backing adhesive, put a few strips along the sides and back on the underside of the toilet seat, problem solved. Overall, this is a very good item and I'd recommend it to others who are in the same situation.

I was envious of all the sophisticated Europeans with bidets and have been wanting to try one for a long time but was leery of the high prices $200 to $300 for full seat versions. So when I became aware of the mini versions getting one was a no brainer. I chose this one because it is non-digital which means no need to plug into an outlet or buy batteries. Despite its manual control it does have a water temperature setting but with the caveat that you need to run the water for a few minutes to warm up the line. After six months this unit has been sturdy and not difficult to install except for one error in the manual and needing to buy T-joint for the cold water line. After a person tries a bidet in place of toilet paper they won't go back. The result is a comfortable experience, a cleaner rear end and using 90% less toilet paper. This unit is well made, not too difficult to install and priced at a good value. This is my first bidet adapter so I wanted hot and cold water lines to make the experience comfortable in the winter, not electric powered so I don't have to replace batteries and durable. This unit meets all these needs. Installation under the sink was the biggest hassle as you have to crawl in, shut off the water, remove the existing line, wrap 3-4 layers of nylon tape over each of the two threads in a clockwise direction, insert the washer into the new T, attach the T and attach the smaller plastic hot water hose. The T they provided was the right one for my apartment but the T adapter for the cold water was the wrong size (mine is 3/16 inches so I had to purchase another one with the correct size). The manual was understandable however it had a mistake where they say the line connector to the plastic control ports are 1/2 inches but they are actually 3/8". Pressing the hot water hose into the metal connector requires a good amount of pressure so you'll need average hand strength to do it. If you have a cabinet you'll have to drill a small hole in the side to run the line (use a high speed drill and drill a pilot hole first to avoid splitting the wood). All said, anyone who is reasonably handy with a wrench and basic home repair tools should be able to handle it. I love this product. It is so nice never to have to buy toilet paper and the experience is much better. You get cleaner and only have to towel off after you use it. Another thing to consider is the trees you'll be saving by not using toilet paper. It is very liberating and at $67 I would recommend this product to everyone. Great job Zen.

This is our first time using a bidet. I have a 6 and 4 year old who have bathroom issues. The 6 year old sometimes says there's too much for him to clean properly, the smaller boy says wiping hurts. I, am a mom of 3 who had each of my kids the natural way. I though I'd purchase the bidet in order to help all of us in some way. I read the reviews of many bidets including the most reviewed one on amazon. I finally chose this one despite so few reviews, because of the lack of plastic parts described. I didn't want plastic that could split, cracked break or leak. I wanted conectors that I knew would be strong. Reviewers for the other bidets also mentiined that the force of the spray was extremely strong on eve the lowest settings. Knowing this, I decided to also purchase a 3 way t adapter with shut off valve. Not only to try to control the flow of water through the bidet, but to prevent my 3 boys from having a blast hosing down the bathroom on a daily basis, just for fun! This bidet is very powerfull, even qith the shut off valve barely open. I find myself only having the dial on the bidet turned up to the 3rd dot, max.. and even with the shut off valve partly open, the spray can be too forcefull at this setting. I can't say wether or ot this is normal for all bidets, again this is our first. My kids seem to be too small yet for the bidet to spray them in the right place so my 6 year old has to scoot back as far as he can, comfortably and wiggle around to get clean. He does perfect this over the alternative and tells me "this is awesome." The 4 year old prefers to not use the bidet. As for me, I find myself only using the female sprayer as it's slightly less painful when I accidently have the water pressure too high. I feel no need for both jets though as moving around to target the right places is easier and more direct. This bidet does have an adjustable sprayer.. the two sprayers are attached on a hinge so you can change the position more forward or more back.. it also changes the arc of the spray slightly. When I installed the bidet I didn't realize that if I had the bidet too far back against the bowl, that I couldn't adjust the sprayers. I had to then loosen the lid again, slide the bidet forward so as not to hit the bowl and then I could change the angle of the sprayers. The sprayers are also covered by a door.. which on the zin bidet isn't really a door as it doesn't open. Instead it's just a plastic peice in which the sprayers live which I will refer to as a "door". This peice acts as a shield to protect the sprayers from anything they might come in contact with which keeps them cleaner. The cleaning setting causes a waterfall like effect that runs down, over the top of this "door" to clean off the outside so you don't have too. I have an oblong toilet and the sprayer peice sits back, under the oiled seat with how I have positioned it so it's out of the danger zone. The bidet does raise my toilet seat at all so I didn't need the bumpers that many people have used with other bidets. That's not to say you wont, I just didn't need to. Installing the bidet was easy enough even using the valve I purchased separately. The bidet came with 2-3/8 inch supply lines in 2 seperate lengths (and they are metal not plastic), the conectors and the Teflon tape. Steps are easy enough, remove toilet seat, place bidet on toilet,position and replace seat. shut off water, disconnect supply line, wrap water line conectors and bidet conector in tape, screw supply lines on and tighten. Turn on water to check for leaks, tighten more if there is a leak. Test bidet position and angle. Now the shut off valve I bought was a 15/16 x15/16x1/2.. they stated that most bidets take this size but this bidet didn't. It is 3/8 so I also had to buy a 1/2 female to 3/8 male adapter. No big deal really, just a trip to our home improvement store and an additional 4 bucks. I could have used a faucet supply line for the same price but went this route so as to use the supply lines that were sent with the bidet. The bidet does the job but I won't let my kids do it without help. For an adult it's fine. The water is quite cold in my bathroom is seems so I wouldn't mind the one for warm water but I didn't chose that feature. If I could change anything about the bidet itself, other than the force of the spray, it would be the dial. It doesn't really click or lock into the off position so if you aren't looking or can't see it well, you won't really know if you have it in the off position before you have turned it to the other sprayer. There's no click, no stop..just a smooth turning. I am a girl with a wide backside and thighs, and the bidet controls are just a few inches away from the toilet seat which makes it a little harder for me to see the dials entirely. It's not a big deal but I do have to move my leg out of the way a little to look at the controls to make sure I don't miss the stop area. Overall I'm happy with our purchase.

Ok Dan you ask me to review this so here goes, I LIKE it, but ......haven't connected the hot water the supply is to far away and the supplied hose wasn't long enough BUT it should be adequate for a vanity with 8-10 feet, and I probably won't bother because using the cold water only doesn't bother me (a male), the two spouts ( front or back) are a tad redundant they both "hit" within a half inch of each other so it really doesn't matter which one I use. Also I learned quickly to slowly turn on the water to adjust the pressure accordingly. Someone might have to add a rubber bumper to level out the toilet seat, I didn't bother. I LIKE it because it installs very easily, the instructions are adequate, the hardware is quality material, took all of ten minutes and 5 of that was looking for wrenches, (caveat here, do not over tighten the rubber washers, snug then quarter to half turn more) it does a good job for what it is intended, it looks clean and is reasonably priced. The warm water feature might be a nice touch but cold only is fine for me - not worth a trip to the hardware store so I can strongly recommend this model or the cold only one equally. A side note, I ordered paper towelettes (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BX6KOE2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) as someone suggested and I also recommend using them. Update: after this posting the review, customer service immediately contacted me and offered a longer hose, I procrastinated a while and finally decided ok, when I emailed back they immediately replied that they were sending it out. Not only a great product but really prompt customer service if you should need them or have a question UPDATE been using a while now, if something works as intended well, you're supposed to give it 5 stars, I would give this 9 stars, the only improvement I can think to make would be to have the water spray tweaked to give a slightly wider pattern

Nothing ruins my day like a post shower BM! I enjoy the feeling of being clean and this does the trick. There is something 3rd world about cleaning yourself with a piece of paper. The European's have figured this out and it's time we get on board. I love that this particular sprayer has 2 separate spray functions. I know many people use this as a diaper sprayer and I can't comment on that since we don't use cloth diapers, but I can say we have found other helpful uses for the sprayer. First, it can be installed in seconds with a couple of adjustable wrenches and the provided plumber's tape. The hose is fairly long and in small guest bath that comes in handy. We use the sprayer for rinsing the toilet, shower and sink after applying bathroom cleaner. It also works great for filling a mop bucket when we clean the tile floor. The quality of this unit is better than some of the others we have purchased. Even if you don't want to be clean or think that using something like this is un-American, the other benefits alone justify the price. I usually don't comment on this type of thing but I felt compelled by the excellent customer service. I received an email a few days after delivery to see if I was satisfied. I had a very minor issue, but one that I could live with. The rep was quick to apologize for the defect and promptly shipped a replacement head at no cost. In a marketplace with so many choices, little things like this go a long way. I recommend the product and especially the seller. Buy it! I will purchase another one when my other guest bathroom is finished.

I am very pleased with this product. It is solid and well-built, the knobs turn easily yet are firm and solid-feeling, and I loved the look of the label as soon as I saw it on Amazon. It performs perfectly, although if you live in an area where water pressure is very high like me, I suggest turning the main knob for cleaning yourself INCREMENTALLY, so as not to get blasted. With a bit of practice, you can obtain a gentle stream that does not require a towel to dry off afterwards! Of note, too, is that it is not necessary to install a buffer under the front of the toilet seat as some models require, to avoid spray there, because the bidet arm that attaches to the seat is thin enough to not raise the seat at the front. I have a standard round smallish toilet. Customer support: This is an important aspect for any appliance purchase, for me at least, and this company does not disappoint. I had seen another reviewer mention his satisfaction with the customer support for this product, which prompted me to give Zen Bidet a try, after researching a number of other bidet products online. My bidet kit came with a 6' polyurethane hose for the hot water hookup, which was too short for my bathroom, since the bathroom sink sits opposite the toilet and I envisioned snaking a longer hose from the toilet around the perimeter of the floor to the hot water hookup under the sink. So I emailed the company asking for a 10' hose and got a reply within 1/2 hour, that they would be mailing me the 10' hose immediately. No extra cost. 2 days later it arrived. How often does that happen? Installation: Although it seems fairly simple and every review I read said the client installed themselves, I knew I would be calling a plumber because I am not looking for new adventures in plumbing at my age. The plumber was not impressed with my perimeter solution, he took one look at the bathroom and announced he would be drilling through the floor to the basement and connecting to a hot water pipe. (Plumbers have their pride.) This set me back $195, way beyond the price of the bidet, but it was a good decision. The job is neat, unobtrusive, and hot water readily available. Altho' a seasoned plumber, this was his first bidet install and he was impressed by the product, and took the references. His wife recently returned from Japan and apparently has been badgering him ever since for a bidet. He liked the Zen model, so may well be going for this one!

This is my 2nd non-electric bidet, the 1st (Clear Rear) was a cold-only to validate the concept, which was fine. Now six months later "upgraded" to this Zen Warm model and find the basic functions and install to be OK. However can't help notice my whole butt gets wet due to less focused spray. Now if this were my 1st experience I might think this is the way these bidets are, but not so. To see what's going on, held a bowl to catch & see the spray and found fine mist spraying outside the bowl all over. Same for both Front & Rear jets. Note my water pressure hasn't changed nor anything else, just the bidet. This thing was spozed to reduce TP usage, but now use same amount with all the drying. The 2nd observation is the flex of the white plastic which supports the valves/controls. It feels cheap, every time you turn a knob. Could they have used a tad more plastic or reinforcing? To be fair my previous model also flexed (but less), however I don't know (or want to test to find out) how much flexing the unit can take before it breaks. Will my guests be as gentle as I with it? For the spray issue I rate this product a "pain in the rear" and will prolly return it and try yet another vendor, as I doubt the mfr can resolve this (will give them a chance). The installation T's and other components are of nice quality, and I don't think the plastic hot water line should be of concern as it's quite stout (vs. braided SS line). In fact, you do want a small diameter line so it doesn't take forever to get hot water to the unit. The control-end of the unit is quite heavy, so it appears the valves are indeed all brass. BTW: Regarding every WARM WATER (non-electric) type bidet on the market... My install seems only feasible as the hot water tank is directly behind the bathroom sink. Any further away and either you must run the sink faucet until the line is clear of cold water, or run the Cleaning valve a very very long time until it gets warm. Just sayin.

This product is outstanding! It has taken my ADA-Compliant Toto Toilet and turned it into a Cadillac! It was very easy to install. I took my time and it took approximately 30 minutes. I could have done it quicker I'm certain, but I'm not Henry Ford. Concerned with some reviews about leaking, I used a higher grade Teflon tape than the one provided in the kit. I highly recommend this. You'll also note from my photo that my toilet seat is not Toto standard, but an aftermarket from now defunct Bed Bath & Beyond. However, the rubber seat stoppers are approximately 1/2" thick which keeps the seat off of the plastic containing the inner workings of the bidet at the rear of the bowl, so I'm confident in long term reliability. I recommend this as well since some of the slow-close seats are very low profile. I immediately knew after my first use that I had hit the jackpot, or bulls-eye! Now, after about a month, I can report that toilet paper usage has gone down 90%, while cleanliness and the need to no longer jump in the shower after a bombing run has increased dramatically. To put it simply, if you went out into the woods and rolled around in the mud, when you came home, would you just want to towel off, or would you prefer to take a shower? I'm so happy with this, I wished I had purchased and installed sooner. There's no runs, no drips, and no errors! I'm a rather large, beastly man, and my Toto toilet paired with the Zen Bidet is the perfect One - Two punch I needed to get out in the world each day brimming with confidence and cleanliness. Hell, I don't even want to leave home any more. Last note, my bathroom layout is such that the warm water option from a nearby sink is not feasible. However, I'm positive that this install would be very straight-forward and easy if I could. Don't wait another day, put it in your cart and join me in your own version of Xanadu!
