I bought this pen almost a year ago to the day. It’s held up nicely. The standard refill that came in the pen was nice but too thick, so I switched it out with Pentel Energel refills in .5 or .3. So much better! I never experienced any leaking with the original refill so I guess that some pens may come with this unfortunate and annoying defect. Fits nicely in the pen loop of my Filofax Malden and the gold color is elegant and looks beautiful. Not very comfortable to hold as there’s no grip; it’s decent but can get slippery in a wet/sweaty hand. So far barrel hasn’t chipped, scratched, or tarnished—still the same beautiful gold color a year later.

This pen feels very good in my hand. It's a retractable and full metal alloy pen so it has some weight which adds to the good feel. Be prepared to use a different cartridge other than the Zebra refills because so far all my Zebra cartridges have leaked greatly. I experimented by purchasing the Pentel Energel #LRN7-A 0.7mm black refill cartridges (the "N" in the part number denotes a needle tip) and so far so good. The Zebra cartridges were the full body tips and I will be trying the Pentel versions of these soon to see if they are any better. The needle tip cartridges can be damaged more easily if you drop the pen onto a hard floor. The only drawback to this pen was the shirt pocket clip. It protrudes up beside the retractable "clicker" getting in the way of my thumb. In my workplace it is a must to have a retractable pen that I use constantly all day long (literally clicking that thing every few minutes). So that can be a bit frustrating. I have taught myself to grab the pen in such a way as to minimize the clicking issue due to this design. Overall though the pen is solid, just needs a better ink cartridge, and redesign the clip.

This pen is a quality product for a relatively cheap price but for those who want Montblanc quality, don't expect the same quality with this item. It adds a touch of class to your daily writing, for those of us who have an appreciation for fine writing utensils but can't justify paying for a Montblanc. I am pleased with my purchase and do recommend this product. It can be used with the Zebra JF-O.7 or JF-0.5 refills. I would re-purchase. Hope this helps!

I’m not sure what’s wrong with the online purchase of this pen. I purchased one in an office supply store. That pen was perfect and easy to use. I purchased this pen and it had a weak mechanism which makes it difficult to turn on. Then I received a replacement and it also has a problem with the mechanism. I did not have this problem with the in store purchase. Not sure if the defective pens ended up here? UPDATE: I received a replacement pen, it too is defective. The ones that I purchased at the office supply store work perfectly.

I bought a couple of these pens because I love the looks, weight, size, and feel of the pen. It is the kind of pen that you can write a long time without getting tired. I made two modifications to this pen that made it near perfect. 1. The clip on this pen is the worst looking clip on any pen I have ever used. I can't describe how much I dislike it. So, what did I do? I bought a couple of the cheaper Zebra F402 pens and swapped the clips. Now I have two Sarasa's with a good looking/usable clip, and a couple of F402s in the junk pen drawer with stupid looking clips (I hope someone steals them). 2. The Sarasa refill is very nice, but I didn't replace it when it ran out. Instead, I went with the Pentel LRN5 Energel refill. This pen and that refill go together like apple pie and cheese. Yes, you have to trim the Energel refill slightly. Not a big deal. Of course, YMMV. Happy writing.

I have yet to find a pen that writes as smoothly as this Zebra Sarasa Grand Gel Ink Pen. The gel ink comes out dark and heavy, dries quickly, and looks amazingly glossy. I have yet to experience any smudging with this pen! The barrel comes in many different colors, and so far, the white, turquoise, and rose gold I have purchased look sleek and professional. One of the most unique features of this pen is the easy push clip that makes attaching the pen super convenient! The only drawback I can mention is that this pen does seem to lose its ink quickly or at least it seems that way, because it stops writing as smoothly and with as thick of an ink deposit much sooner than expected. For that reason alone, I think the cost of the pen could be lower to reflect its longevity of use. Regardless, I have already bought 3 of these Zebra Sarasa Grands and will buy more. Definitely recommend for pen lovers out there!

At almost $8, it’s a wee bit overpriced, IMO. It’s easy to hold, pleasant to write with. As long as It is durable & refills are easy to find, I’ll be happy with it for a long time! Love the color-very rich looking. Only one thing missing: a thin silicone grip. It would have been nice to have a choice between using it with the bare barrel (it does have a few grooves) or slipping on a thin comfort grip to ease the pain & discomfort of long writing sessions. The ink cartridge writes smoothly with no leakage or clumps. Typical Zebra quality, however, I’ve had Sarasa pens that had much more glide, so it’s not going to be my favorite pen but it does make my top 5. Update: A few pages in and the ink began flowing as smoothly as any Sarasa I’ve ever used. I would buy again & recommend it.
