Zebco is a name that is synonymous with fishing. But, lets face it, their newer stuff has been crap for so long that people like me look for their older stuff at yard sales and flea markets anytime we can. For budget fishing I have been using a lot of Shakespeare stuff and that has been pretty hit and miss. For every good Shakespeare in my shed is one that has needed tossed. Pflueger reels have ended up being my go to any time I can afford it, but they cost double what one of these reels do. My wife wanted this one and wouldn't settle on anything else, so I ordered it. I wasn't really expecting much out of anything with the Zebco name on it. The line that came on it, toss it, and put a quality line on there. Quality line isn't all that expensive and any reasonably good line makes this reel work smooth. It casts great, reels great, and hasn't had a single issue with the Berkley Vanish 12lb test that I threw on there. It impressed me so much that I ordered one of these reels for myself to replace a good Shakespeare that took me about 6 seasons of fishing to wear out. I dare say that this spincast combo is as good as my Pflueger President and is half the cost. Will it hold up over time, only time will tell, but it sure looks and feels like it is built for it. I liked what the reviews said so I figured I would give it a try. My son uses about once a week and it has held up nicely. Easy for him to maneuver and handle on his own, which is a big plus. The color is kind of cool too.
