5 stars for abu gracia no stars for amazon let's talk about the packaging yall use. Which is no box just plastic wrap. My rod and reel could of been easily messed up on arrival.

This combo is great for beginners. But if you are like me and rest your pointer finger in front of the reel just under the line, this will be a problem. This is a super low-profile reel, so for people like me who put their finger in the front, you are going to have the line rubbing against your finger the entire time. If you are not a beginner, then there is no point in buying this.

We like the rod AND the reel. Unfortunately it was not shipped in a box but only had light plastic wrapped around the reel and a couple of places in the rod. It arrived broken. I chose the return option that didn't require me to pack it in a box. Now my return says customer packed. It DID NOt come in a box. Now the UPS store says I have to buy one. The replacement came with a broken eyelet too but we have decided to accept it and use it this way instead of attempting another return.

This review doesn't directly address the rod, but rather the handling by Amazon and Abu Garcia. If you order a rod from Abu Garcia from Amazon, it's simply delivered wrapped in plastic, and the packaging is poor, too. This means that a rod that costs a lot of money arrives already very scratched, and that's just awful. Abu Garcia simply sold me to Amazon and doesn't see any need for further action. You can simply return the item to Amazon, but that doesn't solve the problem of the poor packaging.

I’m sure the pole is nice. The problem is it is shipped in a plastic bag. Mine arrived damage, scratched, pole sticking half out the bag, and almost all the eyelits were bent or broken. I returned and provided feedback and requested a replacement. Second one came the same way. I was going to do it a third time but the pole was no longer available. If you order from Abu Garcia directly the pole comes strapped to a heavy piece of cardboard that is packaged in a cardboard box. Or if you order just a rod I comes in a heavy duty round container and would be very unlikely to get damaged. Do not order from here, no way to contact seller, I can’t imagine how many poles get returned. It’s not the most expensive pole in my arsenal but it’s not the cheapest either. I called Abu Garcia directly to make them aware of the situation. Don’t order on here.

I received this fishing rod just sitting in a bent up box with absolutely no protection to it. The box was so big around it was just bouncing around in it. 7 of the 8 eyelets were completely bent up against the rod. Oh and the shipping was delayed 5 days. They couldn’t even wrap this thing in foam to protect it. I read this in other reviews also and thought, “it’ll be fine”… don’t make my mistake. Order it from someone else. I bet they will try a little better to keep it safe. The product itself is amazing and cost effective. It will be my second one, if the eyelets don’t break from such poor shipping.
