This is the smoothest reel that I've ever used, I've used 33 Platinum and others in that price range (or lower) for the majority of my life, they're all good and fine, but switching to this instantly felt like... like I'm suddenly driving an Audi or Lexus, after only ever having driven a 1992 Ford Escort before. The casting is as smooth as butter and added distance to my game. The reeling feels great as well. It's built solidly and precisely, and you can tell so by the weight (it's not overly heavy, but it doesn't feel like the tin can I'm accustomed to having on my setup), and the feel of the reeling action is tight and controlled. Paired with an ultra-light rod, I'm flipping tiny lures into far away, tight spots just as easy as you please! It's not cheap, but It's not cheap. If you can get one on deep sale, you've got a fine score indeed, but it's still worth the price if you can get it for under a bill. Fishing is one of my life's pleasures, and having this in my arsenal really helps it to be so! Highly recommended for anyone who fishes more than occasionally! As soon as I unboxed it, I understood, and the smoothness and ease of operating it has reminded me on every cast!

Just when I thought the Omega Pro couldn't get any better I bought this. I have two older Omegas and used them for 15 or so years. The new model is head and shoulders above the old one and accepts braid. The only improvement would be to make a lighter version like the magnesium Bullet. I use the Omega Pros over spinning and bait cast reels. Easier to use, less problems with line twist and bird nests, and casts just as far

I live on a lake. I fish quite often. I have many many fishing rods and reels. I have always used spinning reels and bait casters. I taught my wife to use spinning reels and bait casters. There are times and conditions that these reels are not optimum. And I was getting tired of the backlash from the bait casters. I don't use one enough to be proficient on every cast and when I use light weight lures, it's worse. I need a reel I can cast a long distance, without backlash (I want to spend time fishing and not detangling my line), and I can work the lure as intended. The Zebco Omega pro Spincast reel is fantastic. It is smooth. It will cast a long distance and is accurate. A long distance for me is 20 to 30 yards. You will not believe how smooth the line comes off this reel. I have changed all my favorite rods to a Zebco Omega Pro reel. They are not just for beginners or hobby fishermen. They are for any level of angler, beginner to pro. Don't get caught up on the hype that you must learn to use a bait caster. If you like them, use them. If you want a reel that is accurate, smooth, has no backlash, and can cast a long distance? Get this reel. And, the price is right.

This is the best spincasting reel I've ever used. I've been fishing for 3 decades, always loved a good zeb33, but this one is smooth and casts further than anything I've used besides baitcasters twice the price. And you can teach anyone to use a spincaster.

Update... the old version is better, two reasons... #1 this is heavier, doesn't need to be and the second is the stupid screw for the crank keeps coming loose. The old omega pro was a simple flat head, I usually just used a coin to tighten, new using a stupid square but and who the helI carries one of those when fishing? If I had to do it over again, I would have bought the older version of the omega pro 3, I liked it far better after using both. Original I have a delta and recently lost an omega pro 3(old version). And I was torn between this or ordering the bullet. Build quality is solid, what little I observed and tried (smooth drag) impressed me. I do wish the sent the extra spool and the nicer box that came in the old model, but I'm happy. The line that comes with it is garbage... Going to swap it out and give it a test run this weekend.
