Schlueter-Kerdi Niche 12"x12"

The Schlueter-Kerdi Panels combine into a great System. The 12"x12" Niche is an essential part to a complete shower - like all Kerdi panels it's easy to install and ready to tile once installed. It is NOT pre-sloped. A bit on the pricey side (like all Schlueter Products).

A Shower Niche Fit for a King (or Queen)
I've seen my fair share of shower installations. Some have been a breeze, while others... well, let's just say they've been a bit of a nightmare. So, when I came across the Schluter KERDI-BOARD-SN: Shower Niche 12"x12", I was both intrigued and skeptical. Could this little niche really live up to its claims of making new shower installations easy? Well, let me tell you, it certainly made for an interesting experience. First off, let's talk about the installation process. And when I say "process," I mean a breeze so refreshing, you'll forget you're knee-deep in grout. The KERDI-BOARD-SN came ready to install, with clear instructions that even a monkey (or a contractor with questionable DIY skills) could follow. Within minutes, I had it securely attached to the wall, ready to be tiled over. It was almost disappointingly easy. But here's the catch, my fellow adventurers of the construction realm - all this ease comes at a cost. And boy, does it cost. The Schluter KERDI-BOARD-SN is like the luxury suite of shower niches. It boasts the price tag of a Champagne-fueled jet ski ride through the Caribbean. Sure, it's worth it if you want your shower niche to scream opulence, but for the budget-conscious folks out there, it might be a hard pill to swallow. Now, let's take a closer look at the pros and cons of the Schluter KERDI-BOARD-SN: Pros: 1. Effortlessly Easy: Installation is a breeze, thanks to its user-friendly design and detailed instructions. 2. Aesthetically Pleasing: With clean lines and a sleek appearance, this niche is a sight to behold once tiled over. 3. Durable and Waterproof: The KERDI-BOARD-SN is built to last, offering excellent protection against water damage and moisture. Cons: 1. Costly Investment: Unfortunately, this niche falls into the "luxury" category and may not fit every budget. 2. Limited Size Options: The 12"x12" dimensions might not be suitable for larger shower spaces or those looking for more storage capacity. 3. Specialty Installation: While it's easy for experienced contractors, this niche may pose a challenge for novices or DIY enthusiasts. In conclusion, the Schluter KERDI-BOARD-SN: Shower Niche 12"x12" is a top-notch product that lives up to its promise of making new shower installations a breeze. With its easy installation process and durable design, it's definitely a contractor's dream. However, its hefty price tag and limited size options may deter those on a tight budget or with specific storage needs. If you're looking to add a touch of luxury and simplicity to your shower, this niche is worth considering, but be prepared to splurge a little. After all, who said shower installations couldn't have a hint of extravagance? ... show more

Kerdi Products are high quality, but at a price
I continue to use Kerdi solutions for waterproofing even if they continue to be pricey options. For niche, I can easily and quickly install combinations of adjacent horizontally or vertically with good alignment. You DO need to carefully cut tile around the fixed size to nicely fit, but IMHO it's a breeze to bypass manually constructing the niche. The rulings n the Kerdi surface really facilitate alignment challenges as well. ... show more
