I have one of these on my 2002 Grand Cherokee. I broke an axle shaft and had to winch up some slick rocks. This winch loaded up and pulled me forward 6 inches before cutting out. I has to let it sit for 20 seconds before trying again, and then it only moved me about 2 inches and died again. Wash rinse repeat, a 5 minute winch job turned into 30 minutes inch by inch. This is only the 2nd time I've used the winch too (first time was just to verify it worked sitting in the driveway). I've never had a Smittybilt or a Badlands at the same price point fail in 7 years of wheeling. Sucks to not be able to rely on this when I needed it most. Photo attached for situation I couldn't well winch out of (Jeep in front couldn't just pull me up over the rock as the whole trail was uphill).

This winch mounted to the SSO Slimline hybrid bumper with no issues, the fairlead and hook are very good quality. I chose to upgrade my setup to a closed shackle. The motor and gears sound great and clutch is smooth and free spools with ease. The remote is a great option it’s compact and seems to function without delay. I haven’t had a chance to use the winch out on the trail yet, I update this review when I do.

Love the synthetic rope. Had the steel cable winch from Harbor Freight before and hated it, but dealt with it. The wireless remote was smooth. In fact, I mounted this on to my trailer for pulling up non-running cars and this thing never hesitated. Just smooth and effortless.
